Help - Eyelash extensions hurt like hell

I had lashes, the individual type, applied two days ago. It stung at the time, like it does when I've had them tinted, calmed down but now they have definately caused both upper lids to swell and be very sore and itchy.
The one other time I had them done it was ok but I did find them a bit itchy and hence the 12 year gap .
I think I have reacted to the glue.
I need them off and fast don't I ?

How can I remove at home ?

Use something oily - olive oil, coconut oil etc. Soak a cotton wool pad in it and they’ll come off.

Goandplay · 08/12/2019 18:45

Oily make up remover will also help. It’s going to take ages though to break the bond. Good luck.

Did you have a patch test?

Goodnightjude1 · 08/12/2019 18:45

Yes get them off ASAP. I reacted badly to the individual ones and now stick to strip lashes. Much prefer being able to take them off at the end of the day and give my eyes a good rub

BennyTheBall · 08/12/2019 18:46

If you can wait - I’d go back to the technician tomorrow to get them removed. I’d be worried you’ll take your lashes with them.

The glue is super strong and probably needs something equally strong to remove it.

Luckingfovely · 08/12/2019 18:57

I've had this a couple of times and have had to finally accept that I'm allergic and can't have them any more Sad even with the extra sensitive glue.

Have always been advised to use baby oil but you will end up pulling a lot of lashes out. I would call your beautician and ask if she has any better product to break the bond.

Looneytune253 · 08/12/2019 18:59

I get this now, didn't used to. It was getting to the point where the irritation was lasting as long as a week before dying down so I don't get them anymore. I miss them

nononever · 08/12/2019 20:09

I haven’t ever had a reaction but the last time I had them they lasted ages and I decided I wanted to remove them. I tried everything suggested and nope, stuck fast. They literally grew out. I definitely suggest you go back to your beautician.

MrsBungle · 08/12/2019 20:11

I get a bit of a reaction. I use opticrom eye drops and anti histamine and it usually subsides in a day.

Ticklemeelmo · 08/12/2019 21:04

Yes that doesn't sound right to me, I had them continuously for about 3 years and think it's normal for them to sting a little when you first shower after having them done- but definitely not to swell up and itch.

I'd call the technician and get them removed

habibihabibi · 09/12/2019 03:58

So I used olive oil and tweezers and got them off but am still left with clumps of glue and have lost alot of my own lashes.
I took anti histamine too.
Feels much better after a nights sleep but eyes are still very puffy and red rimmed.
I will get some drops today.
Not mucking around with lashes ever again.

OP my lashes were really short and stubby after having extensions on for almost two years. I can highly recommend revitalash for helping them grow back again.

SpaceDinosaur · 09/12/2019 04:39

Did you not get a patch test???

habibihabibi · 09/12/2019 09:19

Nope and they did not offer one.
Total waste of money and time and now my lashes are worse than ever.

OP posts:
Srictlybakeoff · 09/12/2019 09:21

I hated extensions and now go for lvl. Not the same but better than my straight lashes.

Luckingfovely · 09/12/2019 09:28

Terrible that they did not offer a patch test - I would warn everyone not to go to anyone that doesn't offer this.

Having said that - the last time I had them done, I had a patch test one hour before, didn't react, had lashes put on, woke up the next morning with eyes so swollen and gummy I couldn't open them. So it doesn't always help sadly Sad

EpcotForever · 09/12/2019 09:37

They should have done a patch test, I would take this further as it's compulsory for insurance. Imagine how many People they could do this to!!

EpcotForever · 09/12/2019 09:37

Patch test should be done 48-24 hours before

Sammi38 · 09/12/2019 09:50

Yes they definitely should have done a patch test, it’s the most important thing before carrying out a treatment that has a potential to cause a reaction. Was it done at a salon?

Hope your eyes feel better soon.

habibihabibi · 09/12/2019 11:08

Yes it was at a salon .

KirstyH1312 · 09/12/2019 11:43

LADIES PLEASE
If you get lash extensions ALWAYS get a patch test 24-48 hours before an appointment. If they don't offer a patch test don't get it done. Research lash tech before booking.
You could take them off with oil but my lose a fair few lashes. Or find a trusting lash tech to take them off for you.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 09/12/2019 12:33

You haven’t had a reaction have you.
Did they do a test before with the glue.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 09/12/2019 12:36

They didn’t do a patch test I thought they had to. It clearly shows they’re not a competent salon. If they lacking in doing patch tests. It has to be said what else are they lacking in.

BuildBuildings · 09/12/2019 12:36

Sorry you've had a reaction. I agree with other posters, always get a patch test. If they don't offer or want to give one go somewhere else!

Thedeadwood · 09/12/2019 12:36

They didn't do a patch test? That's appalling. Frankly I think you're lucky it's only a minor reaction. These things are not to be taken lightly, especially with your eyes.
