I had lashes, the individual type, applied two days ago. It stung at the time, like it does when I've had them tinted, calmed down but now they have definately caused both upper lids to swell and be very sore and itchy.
The one other time I had them done it was ok but I did find them a bit itchy and hence the 12 year gap .
I think I have reacted to the glue.
I need them off and fast don't I ?

Don't take them off. This happens to me. Its the fumes you are allergic to not the glue. Taking them off is a no no as the removal solution is stronger than the glue itself abd will cause further reaction. In 3 or 4 days the swelling will subside in the mean time take an antihistamine . When these fall out don't get them done again.. Just use strip lashes

Never ever try to remove it yourself as that glue is way stronger than average glue in Boots. If you want your lashes stay in tact I wouldnt advice you. Better go to someone so they professionally remove them. Regarding patch test- if she hasnt done it her insurance will not cover her. Also, many places dont do patch tests anymore as patch test doesnt guarantee you wont react, technicians only place 2-3 lashes on each eye and there is so little glue that you might not even reacted. But if you had previous reactions from any other treatments you should have informed your technician beforehand, as she cannot guess what experience you have had. I would advice to go to pharmacist and tell them that you had a reaction as they would give you something to calm it down. But in meantime wash them as much as you can but dont rub! I am a lash technician myself so if you need any further help let me know

I just seen you’ve ripped your own lashes out removing them. Give your eyes a rest for a few days but whiles you waiting for your lashes to grow back which can take anywhere between 4/8 weeks use strips, attach them to your eyelid little bit of liner to hide the band and nobody will know the difference Smile. Always request a patch test for things like lashes, tinting, lash lifts (perming) & the new brow lamination thing ☺️.

Okay lash queens - so I mentioned above that I've also had horrible reactions to lash extensions, even after a patch test.

For the ale of the OP and I and a one else who can't do extensions, what's the next best thing? LVL I hear is really dull in comparison.

The magnetic ones that you stick on either side? The ones with magnetic eyeliner that you stick lashes onto?

Something else even weirder I've never heard of?? Wink

I'm a qualified eyelash technician and firstly they should never hurt or sting. You should always have a patch test done 48 hrs prior and the technician should apply one eyelash to each eye. They should never put a spot of glue behind the ear as the glue shouldn't be placed on skin, its placed on the eyelash. Make sure your technician has insurance also! To remove them, use oily products or ask your technician to remove them as they should have special remover. X

Did you take photos? You need to complain to salon get your money back and take this further. To not offer a patch test is awful. Go to the salon raise merry hell.

I think that they look lovely but am amazed by the amount of people now doing them with very limited training etc, there is a girl local to me who advertises on FB, people go round to her house where she does fake tans, acrylic nails, and now lashes, the training she has had comprises of a couple of hours training by an 'academy', complete with a certificate that you download and print off. She is cheaper than a salon and seems to have lots of clients, but I can't help wondering how little value people put on their sight just to save a couple of quid. There does not seem to be any regulation for anyone to set up as a lash technician?

I'm also allergic to something in the glue, I can't wear false nails either. I had eyelash extensions done and my eyes swelled, went red raw etc. I ended up buying Eyelure Individual eyelash glue remover, which I rubbed on with a cotton bud - it really stung where my eyes were raw but got them off in minutes!
