I think if your 16 year old loves them then that's all that matters... she has her own sense of style, that's a good thing.

Ellapaella · 29/11/2019 22:03

Sorry but I can't imagine coming on here to ask random strangers on the internet to back up my opinion on my 16 year olds style choices... why would you do this? If she likes them that's all that matters! She knows her own mind. Asking everyone to critique her style choices will do nothing for her confidence 😥

partysong · 29/11/2019 22:04

They're awful, but I'm 40 and presumably she's not after impressing a bunch of middle aged women so ... 🤷🏻‍♀️

Th1me · 29/11/2019 22:06

I will quite happily buy them - as you say it’s her that’s wearing them. I’m glad she has her own style really just finding it strange as it’s nothing any of her friends would wear.

My first thought was Mary Poppins!

Th1me · 29/11/2019 22:08

Ellapaella she is sat with me reading and finding it hilarious. We may need style advice but I certainly don’t need parenting advice - thanks

Fair enough... just think it's a strange thing to do, especially as these sort of lists usually end up getting the usual 'vile' 'hideous' comments etc etc.
Hardly parenting advice...

BeatriceTheBeast · 29/11/2019 22:21

The thing is, that it totally depends on how toh style them. If you don't like or get them you will look a twat in them, but if you really love them, you will probably make them work. With a goth look, yeah, I think they would look good.

I also don't get why you're asking us...of course a grown woman isn't going to have the same taste as her goth 16 yo Confused.

heyjude12 · 29/11/2019 22:28

Where are they from. I might have to buy a pair

Greenglassteacup · 29/11/2019 22:30

When I think of goth boots ( ex trad goth in the 80’s) I think pointy. These are what we used to call ‘spoony’, really round toed.

Greenglassteacup · 29/11/2019 22:31

But if she likes them, let her like what she likes

Th1me · 29/11/2019 22:32

We were just having fun on a Friday night. As I was gathering opinions on here dd was gathering opinions form her friends and we were sat together comparing and laughing.

Heyjude12 they are from irisruby- not a site I’ve ever heard of but she found them whilst looking for boots.

I'm 53 and I like them. And I'd wear them!

Which might put your daughter off them now Grin

Lololololola · 29/11/2019 22:50

Hmmm. I kind of like them, but they would be better taller. I have a great long black skirt with sticky out under skirts that would go with them, but taller would be better.
Disclaimer: I am an aged goth with a mainstream day job...

Hotapplecider · 29/11/2019 22:58

@Th1me I’m curious as to what her friends think of them!

runoutofnamechanges · 29/11/2019 23:05

Go your DD! It's great that she has her own style and confidence to know her own mind.

I quite like the style and I'm sure she'll look great in them but the buttons do look a bit cheap. Maybe there is a better version of them out there somewhere.

runoutofnamechanges · 29/11/2019 23:06

I’m curious as to what her friends think of them!

Does it matter? Smile

Hotapplecider · 29/11/2019 23:08

I’m just interested to know! :)

emilybrontescorsett · 29/11/2019 23:12

If your dd likes them and they are comfortable then but them.
They remind me of boots my mum would wear.

LitteStarShine · 29/11/2019 23:22

I like them, but they would only be good for a very specific look with the right outfit IYSWIM. I think they would probably only really work with a dress or skirt in the outfit - can't see them ever going with trousers. They are "dress" boots as it were.

Hithere2 · 29/11/2019 23:24

One vote for ellapaella. If she likes them, it is all that counts.

I like them v much, btw

LitteStarShine · 29/11/2019 23:25

They are quite Victorian in style but Victoriana is trendy - look at all the high neck, frilled, cotton, lace, pouffy long-sleeve and midi skirts that are in at the moment. Actually with a dark floral midi dress/skirt, a leather jacket and a chunky hairband they'd be pretty good.

LitteStarShine · 29/11/2019 23:26

*long-sleeve tops/blouses/jumpers I should have said!

PeopleWhoRun · 29/11/2019 23:26

Hahaha really not my cup of tea at all. But then I'm much older than a 16 year old girl 😂
Definitely take pictures of her in them - they'll be grand to take out when she's 30 Grin
Maybe she would like Morris dancing classes too Grin

carolina21 · 29/11/2019 23:28

No I think if she got them she might try them on but then never wear them
