Has anybody used reusable cotton pads?

Hello! I get through no end of cotton pads, with cleansing, make up removal etc. I really like the organic ones but at £2.50 a pack, I was getting through a pack a week, i was feeling very guilty about the amount I was getting through and throwing away. I bought these. Has anybody tried them? Do you like them s d do you continue too use them? Thanks Ali x www.<a class="break-all" href="https://amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07F5FLJTT?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-style-and-beauty-3754414-Has-anybody-used-reusable-cotton-pads" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07F5FLJTT?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

I will bump for you as I'm interested in the same thing! Smile

AwkwardPaws27 · 27/11/2019 14:26

I use them - I bought mine in Holland and Barrett. I find one reusable pad removes more makeup than disposable ones as they are thicker and a bit bigger. I really like them.

I chuck mine in whatever wash I'm doing, regardless of colour (as I only have six) and they've gone a bit grey. I might buy six more, and then I'll have enough and can hold off and only put them in a white wash.

I use an old muslin from when the DC were babies cut into eight pieces.

blueskiesbrighteyes · 27/11/2019 14:30

I got mine from Honour Your Flow. They're amazing, I'm never using cotton wool pads again!

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 27/11/2019 14:30

No but I have a reusable makeup removing cloth I love

peachgreen · 27/11/2019 14:31

I have Cheeky Wipes and they're great. Wash really well.

Brownsauce83 · 27/11/2019 14:42

I have some and am a total convert. They work better than cotton pads, easy to wash and dry super quickly.

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 27/11/2019 14:47

I bought these recently and really like them. I love the little pot for my dressing table and they come with a bag to wash them in: www.amazon.co.uk/Bamboo-Make-Remover-Pads-EcoPanda/dp/B07NHYB1BN/ref=sr_1_6?crid=20EKNLCTL1ZZZ&keywords=bamboo+make+up+pads&sprefix=bamboo+make+up%2Caps%2C184&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1574865918&sr=8-6

In retrospect I should have bought another set as I tend to use 4 or so to take off makeup, tone etc so would be good to have some in the wash/some clean.

Keeponpottingon · 27/11/2019 14:50

Yes, bought some at the weekend actually - so far I love them. Got the bamboo ones from beau eco and they take my makeup off beautifully. 😊

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 27/11/2019 14:51

I use the soft fleece baby flannels from Poundland, remove make up really well and wash great and because they are a pound for a pack you can have a lovely pile of them in a basket in your bathroomSmile

JeSuisPrest · 27/11/2019 14:55

I used the el cheapo make up removal cloths from B and M. £1.99 for 3 I think. Removes EL DW and waterproof mascara with no extra cleansers, though I do sometimes use a bit of hot cloth cleanser if I've used layers of mascara 🐼

I've got loads of the reusable pads and love them. I keep them in a cute glass jar. I have a mix of the small ones and some large 4inch ones too for when I have lots of make up on.

Just chuck them in the wash with everything else and good to go.

JaimeBronde · 27/11/2019 17:16

I like those @MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet
Can they be tumble dryed when the weather is bad or do you just put them on the radiator to dry?
Never had anything bamboo before (well apart from plants in the garden) so that's why I'm asking.

givememarmite · 27/11/2019 17:51

I've got these bamboo ones from amazon, they're great!

I bought some from eBay cheaply and they are brill. I pop them in the wash once a week along with the children's school shirts, so they haven't created any extra work for me.

My tip is to buy enough to comfortably see you though your normally laundry cycle. In my case, I do a white wash once a week and have enough pads for 1.5 weeks.

onemouseplace · 27/11/2019 18:42

I've got some bamboo ones from Amazon - they are ok. I only use mine to remove eye make up though and, like a pp, I find them a bit rough and they seem so absorb loads of eye make up remover so I feel like I'm getting through that a lot faster.

They are really easy to wash and care for though - I wait until I'm on my last couple and then stick them in a small laundry bag in a lights wash and they come out fine.

SpeckledyHen · 27/11/2019 18:45

I use white flannels from Ikea . £1.40 for 4 I think. Wash up well.

HermioneWeasley · 27/11/2019 19:05

I take make up off with flannels, but use these pads to apply toner. They’re great - better than cotton wool

Destinesia · 27/11/2019 20:30

I got the ones from Two White Bears on Amazon, they come in a box of 18 and are black, white and grey. The black ones are specifically for eyes and are very soft. The packaging is biodegradable and nicely presented, would make a nice Xmas gift.

Themarvellousmrsm · 27/11/2019 20:35

I use bamboo ones similar to those linked earlier in the thread-they came with a little wash bag & I throw them in with a normal wash. They are a little rougher than the cotton wool ones but I don't mind that.

I also have a separate set that I use to remove nail varnish; these are a textured cotton made locally which I did find a bit too harsh but are brilliant at removing nail varnish.

Solihooley · 27/11/2019 20:41

I use my washable bamboo breastpads now I no longer need them as washable cotton pads. I think they are basically the same thing and they’re good. Have you heard of double cleansing? I always used a pad to remove eye makeup but recently switched to double cleansing. You use an oil cleanser (I use the simple one, very cheap) and that removes all makeup, spf etc and then a hydrating cleanser after. It’s cut my need for cotton pads massively. I now only use them for applying my glycolic acid 2 or 3 x per week.

woodhill · 27/11/2019 20:42

I use them. Very pleased

Fridakahlofan · 27/11/2019 20:53

I have them and like them but prefer old cheeky wipes. I use mine for toner and eye make up remover.

BelfastNonBlonde · 27/11/2019 21:01

@Solihooley yes oil cleansing has been a game changer for me! So efficient at removing all traces of make up and so quick! The huile prodigeuse is v good.

Great tips on the reusable pads thanks all! Guess what I’m asking for Christmas!
