What’s your regime?
Where do you shop?

Thank you 😊

Appointments, appointments, appointments.

Otherwise I have every intention of doing home beauty treatments on myself and then taking a month to getting round to doing it, if ever. Book in to the salon for, nails, toenails, lashes, waxing, hairstyling.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 26/11/2019 15:37

I don't know if I am traditionally what you might call high maintenance or glam - eg, never wear heels, don't have long swishy hair - but I think I am pretty well put together.

Regime:

Hair cut every five weeks - I book my next appointment as I leave. I colour it myself with salon stuff from Sally's that my hairdresser recommended.
Pedicure at home every weekend
Nails at home twice a week - I occasionally get gels done if I am going away
Skincare routine as soon as I get home from work rather than just before bed, weekly clay mask/sheet mask
Hair washed daily in the shower, blow dried, run straighteners over it
Eyebrows threaded at a brow bar once a fortnight, tint them myself, plus also tint lashes
Makeup every day unless I am just at home - always wear red lipstick so even if I don't wear much else it brightens my face
Currently lazy about hair removal because it's opaque tights season, so tend to shave my legs/bikini line once a week, underarms every couple of days. In summer I need to shave my legs daily and hate it!
Dentist every six months for air-flow polish.

In terms of shopping I like:

Cos, Other Stories, Topshop, Whistles, Zara, Warehouse, odd bits from H&M, Jigsaw, All Saints, and Uniqlo.

Ninjakittysmellz · 26/11/2019 15:44

I’m probs considered high maintenance, but I do it all so on a day to day basis I can be lazy!

Nails - gels every 3 weeks. Pedicure at the same time.
Eyebrows - threaded and tinted every fortnight
Eyelashes - natural looking extensions (no Russian volume malarkey!) every 3 weeks
Fake tan - spray tan Or home tanning session once every 5 days.
Body hair - buy a Phillips lumea and never have to deal with it again!
Skin - facials once a month at Elemis. Double cleanse and tone when I get in from work as supposed to before bed. Skin oil and night cream.
Hair - I’m pants at this. Trim every 2 months, colour from home on my roots and then at a salon every 3 months ish. Wash daily and dry with babyliss big hair.

Just means when I wake up I put on a bit of foundation, blusher and lip gloss and I look quite put together.

peaceanddove · 27/11/2019 08:24

I always keep on top of the basics, so have regular waxing, teeth whitening, eyelash tint, pedicures and I do look after my skin religiously. Also have regular colour and cut at a good salon. This means that on a day to day basis I need to do very little in order to look well groomed.

Elbeagle · 27/11/2019 08:35

Watching!

JoJoSM2 · 27/11/2019 09:41

I’ve got a friend who’s got the housewives of Cheshire type look. She just spends a lot of time in salons and seems to get a plastic surgery done every couple of years. She has a personal shopper/stylist to put her ‘looks’ together but it tends to be quality high street stuff rather than designer.

I’m quite presentable and it was best when a beautician came to mine 3 times a month to do my nails, waxing, facials etc + regular visits to the hairdresser, fillers and botox. I tend to wear make up daily and do face masks once a week. In terms of clothes, I lean towards a high quality capsule wardrobe as it saves me time and I’m not that into trends.

RoseyOldCrow · 27/11/2019 09:50

Bloody hell, I must look like I'm falling apart - hair cut & lowlights twice a year, legs waxed maybe 3 or 4.
Nails & eyebrows - all natural, give or take the odd file or pluck.
Face - always cleansed & moisturised twice a day, so that's something I guess!

Genuinely, for those of you with multiple weekly appointments, how on earth do you fit it all in?!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 27/11/2019 11:18

rosey I am pretty DIY, but i go to a walk-in brow place in my lunch hour. It takes ten minutes. Hair cut usually on a Saturday, and I can do other things (shopping, meet a friend for lunch) before or after. Everything else I do myself, usually sitting watching TV, or faffing online at the same time.

UnashamedLabelHo · 27/11/2019 13:26

I’m not glam unfortunately but I am high maintenance nonetheless. It is time consuming and boring but means I don’t have to make so much day to day effort.

Dry skin brushing daily, Aveeno moisturiser daily, retinol (the Ordinary) every other day plus buffet and hyaluronic acid.
Hair mask once a week
Eyebrow shape and tint and shellac nails every 2 weeks
Leg wax every three weeks
Eyelash tint every 4 weeks
Facial every 4 weeks
Haircut and colour every 6 weeks
Pedicure every six weeks
Lash lift every six months (usually for Christmas and just before summer holiday)

Gym membership: three reformer Pilates a week and 2 cardio classes.

Shop at; Jigsaw, Gap, Boden, Plus a few pricier one off pieces for weddings / Christmas parties.

RoseyOldCrow · 28/11/2019 13:29

Thanks to your influence I have booked hair, waxing & pedicure. Here's to being a bit more "put together" !

Itsjustmee · 29/11/2019 06:19

I don’t think I’m high maintenance but l like to look nice so I have
Facial every month
Eyebrows eyelashes every 2/3 weeks
Nails every 10 days -2 weeks
Pedicure every month
Botox and lip filler as and when but normally twice a year
Good cleansing routine
Not a heavy make up wearer

Sittinonthefloor · 29/11/2019 06:42

Wow! It all sounds very expensive & time consuming!
OP - are you planning on starting this?!

Honeybee85 · 29/11/2019 06:59

I used to be!
Nails & pedicure every 4 weeks
Hair dye (roots) every 4 weeks
Sunbed every fortnight

Now I do my own fingernails, don’t dye my hair anymore, just get it trimmed every 3 months.
Pedicure every 6 to 8 weeks.
I stopped tanning.

Still I look better now then when I did my glamourous regime.

memaymamo · 29/11/2019 07:15

Curious as to whether the high maintenance women work outside the home or not?

ploopsie · 29/11/2019 07:48

I'm not high maintenance as ultra groomed is not particularly the look I would aim for.

I do spend ££££ on my hair, I have highlights & balayage. I get my eyebrows threaded & tinted fairly regularly. I would like more facials but struggle to find the time. Don't bother with manicures & only occasionally paint my nails. Pedicures only through the Summer months. Very lazy when it comes to hair removal but i'm fair.

ploopsie · 29/11/2019 08:17

Forgot to add I'm quite like products but they don't have to be expensive, like some of the ordinary stuff.

Clothes wise I have a lot of Topshop, then maybe Cos, Whistles, Zara. I also use Matches for Isabel Marant Etoile, Maje, APC & Acne. Like Scandi brands such as Ganni, Stine Goya too. Shoe wise, Topshop good for boots. Like Russell & Bromley for flats, SW for heels as they have padding. Sandals from K Jacques, AGS & Topshop normally have nice ones.

Pukeworthy · 29/11/2019 08:40

Wow yeah this is an eye opening thread! I like to look groomed for work so i
keep my hair trimmed
keep on top of leg shaving (use beard trimmer to avoid tights-pokage if i run out of time)
do a quick make up routine
moisturise skin after shower, esp face
Occasional hair mask
File nails
Pluck eyebrows

...need to book waxing!

DickAmbush · 29/11/2019 08:55

Haircut and Olaplex treatment - every 6 weeks. Salon colour/root stretch - every 3 or so months. My hair is a very bright red, so I slap a temporary dye on it and Olaplex at home once a week. Wash it every other day, straighten it every so often.

Gel nail extensions - every 4 weeks. Gel toes when I can be arsed, but I tend to keep on top of that in the summer.

Waxing (Hollywood, full leg and armpits) - as often as needed in warmer weather. I'm naturally dark haired, so shaving constantly is a ball ache.

I cleanse my face twice a day, and use a combination of La Roche Posay, Clarins, Vichy and Polaar products. Retinol and niacinamide every day. Going to start doing weekly face masks. Body lotion and skin brushing every day.

Clothes, I like to wear bright colours but look well coordinated.

It can be time consuming and my hair alone costs a bomb, but I look better at 36 than I did in my early 20s, and it does wonders for my confidence. It's for my pleasure and nobody else's, although DH does appreciate having a wife who takes care of herself - he's seen me in terrible states mentally and physically, so it makes him happy to see me looking 'well'.

alreadyinchristmasmood · 29/11/2019 09:08

I'm quite high maintenance as some would say, but I don't really think I am (definitely no botox, lashes, or fake tan - not into it )

Blowdry at the salon x2/week (my salon does blow dry 8x packages/month)
Nails every 2 weeks - shellac - always red, burgundy, pale pink or nude (rarely something different)
Pedi every month
Facials every 2 months
Haircut every 8-10 weeks
Dye every 3 months (v natural colour)
Eyebrows monthly

Cleanse my skin (double cleanse) 2./day, proper dental hygiene (no whitening, fortunately they re quite white), In the AW season I use acids (retinol, azelaic), and I moisturize properly.

I shop from Next, Zara, topshop & I try to make as many outfits from the clothes I already own. I always make sure to have quality underwear & bras, shoes & coats & bags. I do have quite a lot of accessories but my go to are wedding band, engagement ring, stud earrings.

I have my favourite makeup kit and I rarely try new stuff. My makeup kits contains: foundation, mascara, face powder, blusher, eyebrow pencil & eyebrow powder kit, a few lipsticks (red, coral, nude, lip gloss).

GiveHerHellFromUs · 29/11/2019 09:16

@alreadyinchristmasmood how do you find the time and money to do all of that?

Excuse me if this is rude, but how much a month would you say you spend?

alreadyinchristmasmood · 29/11/2019 09:45

@GiveHerHellFromUs

Not rude, don't worry!

it takes me two hours to wash and style my own hair, at the salon takes 40 minutes and my nails are done at the same time, so yes, it takes much less.

I spend £100 monthly, roughly, the package is 80 (my friend is the owner). I don't live in the UK, much cheaper here.

Eyebrows around £15, facial around £50, then normal haircut & dye. I don't spend a lot & save a lot of time actually.

alreadyinchristmasmood · 29/11/2019 09:50

@GiveHerHellFromUs also, the girl who does my blowdries also cuts & dyes my hair, so that's just like a regular appointment. Not as fancy as it sounds, I'm afraid.

Purplecatshopaholic · 29/11/2019 14:13

I don’t think I am high maintenance but I guess it’s all relative. Get hair cut and coloured every 6 weeks. Facial peel every 6ish weeks (SK:N clinic). Nails every 3 weeks and toe nails every 4ish but less in winter. Do my own brows. Leg hair etc sorted with Phillips Lumea. Skincare routine morning and night - mix of high end and high street products. Make up every work day - love make up !

happytobemrsg · 29/11/2019 14:34

Thanks to this thread I’ve booked lash extensions for next week! I’m currently doing teeth whitening with my dentist & really happy with the results so far. My clothes are quite put together- I dress for my shape & colours rather than trends. I buy clothes from the high street but a lot of my accessories/jewellery are high-end. I’m good at my day to day makeup BUT my skincare regime is pretty terrible. I need to sort that really

nzeire · 29/11/2019 19:31

Once thought about, I do do quite a bit, just to look halfway decent and not frighten the children

Brows, every month
Hair cut twice a year, colour myself
Have had ipl on underarms and bikini line
Botox to soften witches line every 3 months
Nails do myself
Hair masque one a week
Face mask one a week
Regular sin routine morning and night

Lovely clothes (nz designers)

Can’t afford to do any of it
Can’t afford not to do any of it!
