I'm trying to diet and then up pops a family meal, long day out, Christmas etc. So many events but nothing compared to most celebs social life!

If you're referring to media pics of celebs dressed up at fancy dos, then that's not their social life, that's their job. They probably don't eat at them, only stay for the half hour or so it takes to be pictured with the right people, then get driven off to possibly another PR event or more on the same night.

They also don't work like that every single week. They'll have a few months of hardcore work and promos then they'll go off the radar for weeks at a time - which is when they will eat and drink like normal people, maybe gain weight, maybe not. Then get back into shape for the next project.

@Beatrice and @BeatriceTheBeast, you are both saying the same, but determined to disagree.

Comfort eating, as I understand it, is that packet of crisps or a slice of cake eaten with friends in a peaceful moment away from the maelstrom of children and work/domestic responsibility. That's quite enjoyable and not a problem. It becomes an issue when you bring home (and hide) a 500ml tub of icecream, and consume it when no one is looking, on a regular basis.

Don't, please, read this as critical. Food is great. Food is love for your family if you like to cook. Food is fuel for us all. Well prepared, it's delicious, and indulgent, and some things are treats, not to be eaten every day but to be savoured and relished. I love oysters, but they cost so much that a few, once or twice a year, become a delicious extravagance. I am less interested in sweet foods usually
because sugar tastes sweet however it's prepared.

Many apologies, that should also have been sent to @TileFloors.

In celebrity interviews, they always say that they eat fish, chicken or turkey for lunch and dinner (with salad or vegetables).

That and not doing exercise but "running after their children" keeps them thin even if said children are teenagers who probably don'tmove from the sofa Hmm
I'd actually love to hear some honesty variation. "I lost weight because I'm only eating a lettuce leaf and 3 almonds a day/ a personal trainer does 3 hour gym sessions with me every day/ I did a bootcamp in Turkey and got d and v " etc.
I also think a lot of celebs have ED. I remember about 15 years ago Geri Horner (was halliwell) lost a considerable amount of weight despite not being at all overweight to start with. She attributed it solely to yoga.....but years later admitted it was due to an ED. Nearly every celeb is wheat/lactose intolerant/vegan etc (conveniently meaning their diet is very limited)

ploopsie · 24/11/2019 18:30

This may help @Skinnychip

Julianne Moore once told eve magazine, "I still battle with my deeply boring diet of, essentially, yogurt and breakfast cereal and granola bars. I hate dieting. I hate having to do it to be the 'right' size. I'm hungry all the time. I think I'm a slender person, but the industry apparently doesn't. All actresses are hungry all the time, I think."

BeatriceTheBeast · 24/11/2019 18:34

@XingMing

@TileFloors only made one comment and I responded to it. Thank you for trying to mediate, but I think you only mean me who is being disagreeable! I can live with that by the way.

It was cornish I was talking to earlier and then tile only made the one comment.

Comfort / as in emotional binge eating is not what cornish said. She said she never eats for comfort, only for fuel. I was countering that point by saying I don't actually think eating just for fuel is anything to aspire to.

BeatriceTheBeast · 24/11/2019 18:35

never seen food as comfort or tasty just fuel.

This is what she said sorry^^.

breakfastpizza · 24/11/2019 18:40

Definitely some drug-related assistance. Amphetamines, ECA stack, Clen, DNP. Modafinil for appetite suppressant.

I met a very famous celeb who I'd always considered normal-thin. In person, I thought she was going to collapse under the weight of her own head. And when food and drink were served, she was very good at distracting others while she avoided eating a thing.

DisgruntledGuineaPig · 24/11/2019 20:24

There was a trend a few years ago to lie about how much exercise female celebs did, however the drive generally towards more fitness has meant it's more accepted to admit just how much they do. I've read a few "day in the life" interviews and every female celeb seems to have an hour a day of exercise in as the norm. Combine with keeping strict on not overeating as well and you can see how its easier to keep the weight off.

Sorry, there really isnt a secret pill or injection, it's generally hard work in the gym combined with self denial of a lot of foods. If my income level was determined by my arse size, I'd probably be going for a run right now....

Womenwotlunch · 24/11/2019 20:26

Cocaine, diet pills , personal trainers , dieticians, starvation, surgery

analopes · 25/11/2019 23:55

I actually take the same supplements as some of the Love Island stars... i thought it would be BS but it really worked and I lost 4st in 4 months xx

powershowerforanhour · 26/11/2019 00:15

Genetics and ambition. Sometimes cocaine and eating disorders.

Same as a jockey, basically. Quite a lot of jockeys quit as they can't make the low weights required long term, or they can but it affects their life too much. Some of them have spoken about how they fantasize about food all the time and are miserable and angry a lot of the time when they have to make a very low weight. Most of the jockeys with mental health issues cite the unrelenting struggle to keep their weight down as the major cause of their MH problems. At least it is recognised that it's hard, and they are often pictured doing laps of the racecourse on the morning of a meeting or saying how they are only going to celebrate a win with a cup of black tea as they can't afford the calories in a glass of champagne. They aren't conditioned to talk shite about how they stuff in burgers and simply burn it off running around after the kids- it's acceptable to tell the truth.

powershowerforanhour · 26/11/2019 00:28

From a Rolling Stone interview with Kesha:

She remembers it all coming to a head at a dinner party with friends and family. She sat there, pretending to eat, trying to figure out how she could hide her food. “And I was like, ‘Oh, my God, what if they walk outside and see this food in a bush? Or they see it in the garbage can?’ And I just had all this mounting anxiety. And then finally I was like, ‘Fuck. This. Shit. Fuck this shit. I’mhungry!’ And I am so anxious that I feel like I’m going to explode from all the secrets. All the secret times I’m pretending to eat or other times I’m purging, and I’m trying to not let anybody know. And I’m just fuckingsickof this shit.

powershowerforanhour · 26/11/2019 00:29

Same interview:
Soon afterward, she pulled her car in to a gas station parking lot and asked her mom to meet her there. She needed help. “I didn’t know how to even eat,” she says. “At that point, I’d forgotten how to do it.” Her mom flew with her to rehab, where a nutritionist taught Kesha how to keep herself alive. “I just remember crying into a carbohydrate,” she says, “being like, ‘I can’t eat it. It’s going to make me fat, and if I’m fat, I can’t be a singer because pop stars can’t eat food – they can’t be fat.'”

earsup · 26/11/2019 02:24

Photoshop...saw Gemma Collins recently in local restaurant and she was huge and podgy with a fat Face....all recent pics of her looking slim are faked !!

CruellaDeVille2019 · 26/11/2019 05:01

I saw Katie Price close up about 11 years ago just before she split from Peter Andre.
I couldn't believe how tiny she was. She was probably smaller than I was back when I was a very slim young teenager. This was after she had produced at least 3 of her kids! Her head looked ridiculously big on her body. She was also a lot shorter than I expected so I think she must be naturally petite anyway before doing whatever she does to keep the weight off. I'm pretty sure that the only way anyone could be that tiny would be diet pills and constantly working out, along with not eating normal food.
Would anyone actually want to be that thin with how much you would need to restrict your life? Personally I enjoy food and lots of it. I'd rather have a slight mum tum and a bigger arse than I'd like than deprive myself to the point where I'm miserable.
