What shampoo and conditioner do you use?

I’m after a new shampoo and conditioner, I’ve used Herbal Essence for the past few years but recently my hair has lost its shine and my roots are starting to go greasy after a day. I’m not sure if this is due to my shampoo / conditioner or age...but want to switch up my routine.

Does anyone have any recommendations or tips on what to avoid? I’ve been suggested the Body Shop Banana shampoo and conditioner but not sure how I feel about banana scented hair!

Ogx orchid oil shampoo and conditioner, it really is amazingly good!

Superdrug own brand coconut

Also body shop shampoo is good - the scent doesn't stay for ages

Matrix Color obsessed
Really does stop my red colour fading

I don't have a particular conditioner

But I use vosene shampoo. Really good quality for money. Just a little bit goes far. And it's not too expensive for a good shampoo

Aussie Moist - it makes my hair really silky. I used top user the Extraordinary Clay L'oreal one, but it has started to make my hair like straw dloor some reason.

Live Clean shampoo and conditioner, oys the only thing that stopped my hair loss

Vellichor · 25/11/2019 05:06

I love the smell of the red L’Oréal elvive shampoo and conditioner and I notice the smell on my hair for the rest of the day. That’s my day to day shampoo and conditioner that I get in the supermarket. I also used to like the green bottles of garnier fructis but they seem to have stopped making those.
My hair always feels really nice after using the body shop banana and, if treating myself, I like Paul Mitchell lavender and mint, Wella System Professional, or Kerastase. I also find that my hair benefits from occasionally being washed with a coal tar shampoo. It seems to get it really clean and shiny but using it too often dries it out. I have fine, quite curly, hair that is prone to frizz and I wash it every day.

Aldi copy of Aussie everyday shampoo and conditioner. I used to spend ££ on Kerastase from the hairdressers and then switched to Aloe from Forever Living. My hair is no different since switching to Aldi.

@melissasummerfield 100% agree, the Ogx orchid oil is hands down the most amazing smelling shampoo I've every used. I sometimes add some purple shampoo into though to keep the brassiness out of my hair.

I use L'Oreal extraordinary oil conditioner with it, which I don't really like the smell of but it keeps my bleached hair ultra soft and shiny like nothing else.

Aldi copy of Aussie everyday shampoo and conditioner.

I have to say the Lidl version of the Aussie range is brilliant!

WalkAwaySugarbear · 25/11/2019 12:30

Lush soak and float shampoo bar and lidl elvive rip off colour conditioner.

I have complicated hair, sensitive scalp with dandruff, greasy and coloured. Very thick hair that takes an age to dry so prefer to wash not as often as it needs.

The soak and float bar calms my scalp but I double wash to get it squeaky clean. Shampoo the roots and condition the rest. I get 2-3 days before it needs washing again.

ClientListQueen · 25/11/2019 13:00

XHC conditioner. I wash and condition with it

Karmatime · 25/11/2019 22:06

I’m using the Beauty Pie one for fine hair, it’s as good as a Bumble and Bumble one I was using and much cheaper. I need SLS and silicone free - still on the look out for a cheap drug store option.

Rosere · 25/11/2019 22:15

My hair went a bit like that. Had to buy a few shampoos til I found "the one". Ogx was a disaster on my hair. Made it very sticky.
Ended up buying Boots Expert clarifying shampoo. Use it every few weeks, but surprisingly enough, went back to Herbal Essences, the clear 0%parabens mint one. No conditioner, all sorted.

slinkysaluki · 26/11/2019 17:32

Best i e found for my thick coarse hair is Kerastase Bain Satin or Magistral but its £££££ so unless im flush i use Dove intensive repair shampoo and usually a rich conditioner and a bit of coconut oil smoothed through after its dried

bobstersmum · 26/11/2019 19:30

Op as you mentioned greasy roots have you tried a little bit of dry shampoo? The xl volume one from batiste especially is so good! My hair gets flat the day after washing it but this gives it so much volume it's really amazing.

stripeypillowcase · 26/11/2019 19:32

whatever is on offer.
tbh what helped my hair most is using shampoo/conditioner only twice a week. rest of the week hair only gets rinsed in the shower.

JewelleryQuarter · 26/11/2019 19:33

Olaplex, Davines and NL ouia (pricey but lovely).

MorrisZapp · 26/11/2019 19:35

Could olaplex users expand please? Do you have to use the whole system or does it work on its own?

HotMess21 · 26/11/2019 19:41

Olaplex, Maria Nila (both vegan). Expensive but worth every penny.

BubblesBuddy · 26/11/2019 21:19

Aussie. I only buy them on offer. Best products in the supermarket.

Faith by Nature as its the only one that dosnt make my eyes sore

Rosepetals30 · 26/11/2019 21:22

Started using Olaplex 5&6 a few months back with no regrets. The conditioner is sometimes not quite enough to feel (even though it’s job is working internally) and I do like a bit of silicone so I sometimes back it up with another high street conditioner.
