Need a new cleanser for sensitive skin

Help! I have been using liz Earle cleanse and polish and their related products for my skin for 5 years or so, I have recently been having allergic reactions and I think I’ve narrowed it down to the cleanse and polish causing the reactions.

I know I am allergic to methylchloroisothianozole, and I react to products which do not state this as an ingredient, so there are unknown allergens as well.

Does anyone have any skin care recommendations for someone with allergies. I am desperate at the moment, my skin is hot, itchy and I look awful.

I would avoid 'natural' skincare brands like Liz Earle- they usually contain essential oils like lavender, citrus, eucalyptus etc. which are known irritants.

I have a Rosacea like skin condition.

I use Paulas Choice in the main. Clinique work for me as well- if you pick carefully and avoid the all the toners except the mildest one.

Another vote for Clinique Take The Day Off. Its unfragranced and is fine on my sensitive skin.

I second dermalogica calming range.
I also have sensitive skin and have also discovered super facialist products. I adore the cleansing oil. And will definitely look to trying more from their range.

The Body Shop camomile balm is the bees knees. So gentle but removes my waterproof mascara really well. I rub it in and take it off with wet cotton wool.

Haven't read all the responses but I'd definitely try la Roche posay . I use the toleriane cleanser but pretty much all of it is excellent, much of it suitable for very sensitive skin, often fragrance free

@totallyradllama I take mine off with a warm flannel.

Wow, so many helpful replies. I am going to go through all the posts carefully to find something which might work for me

I have also had the skin test which is how I know I’m allergic to MI.

I totally agree with the shampoo issue, My allergen is in most budget and high end products and even when not there I can suffer. I was trying to use silicone free etc products but still reacting, so now I use t-gel sensitive scalp shampoo (although at first I used the coal tar one, which was massively calming to my scalp, but switched once my symptoms had stopped as it was making my hair colour brassy) and a boots own brand sensitive conditioner, and no longer have an itchy often bleeding scalp. I would recommend them to anyone struggling with scalp itchiness.

In other news, I contacted liz Earle, and they have been very helpful, so I would definitely buy from again (but do a patch test in future).

Just went back and read through all the replies.

I have tried and failed at a few of the products already mentioned, Paula’s choice I am allergic too (although my sister tried them at the same time as me, and has worked wonders for her skin, so if anyone is suffering from adult onset acne should def give a try)

Also allergic to the lush balm one, allergic to some Clinique products as well, although these would be easy to patch test as there is a counter I can easily get too, so maybe a good option.

With all the responses and descriptions of skin types (that has been really helpful), I am going to try patch test the la roche posay. Wish me luck!

Clinique have great cleansers.
I have very sensitive skin and am allergic to Liz Earle

I always turn to La Roche Posay for troubled skin moments of any kind, (generally am another Liz Earle fan) Have a good read of all their products and see.

I also love the body Shop chamomile balm mentioned above but for a skin that's reacting suddenly I'd stick to a LRP or Cetaphil.

To the poster who asked about the balm, I use it like any hot cloth cleanser, I do find it leaves more of a residue so you need a wipe of toner or a second cleanse

Just as "natural" ranges can cause reactions because of the potency of the ingredients, remember ranges like Clinique and Simple were originally formulated for "problem" skin as in oily, acne prone etc. Hence the white coat uniforms that Clinique sales assistants had. So their products tended to be harsh and oil stripping. Clinique have moved away from that now, but don't just assume either they or especially Simple (which sometimes is anything but) are going to be gentle.

I’m allergic to fragrance (diagnosed by a 5 day patch test) and have dry rosacea skin and have also had seborrhoeic dermatitis in the past. Cerave moisturising cleanser and DHC cleansing oil work for me.

The real game changer was finding a fish oil/EPA supplement (Igennus Restore) that improved my skin’s moisture levels. It took a couple of months & it was a complete accident as I’ve previously taken fish oil with no impact. Having a stronger moisture barrier helps with allergies.

Dauphin rosewood cleanser (a wash off one) and Waitrose own brand sensitive cream cleanser are my current ones. I use the Waitrose at night, then the dauphinois in the shower in the morning as the smell is so good.

I use Cerave Hydrating Cleanser and Cerave spf25 moisturiser currently. I think they're brilliant. Also Clinique cleansing balm is excellent and I don't react to any Clinique Cleansers ( but do to the eye make up).
I have Rosacea with very sensitive reactive skin and also have reactions to shampoos. I also find T gel shampoos very effective and use Nizoral occasionally if things flare up. Kalme cleanser for Rosacea and the shampoo for a reactive scalp is also very good.
Simple products are a complete no as the whole family reacts to them.
Also I find avoiding dairy helps reduce irritation.
