Would you wear this to a winter wedding?

I'd be grateful for opinions, I guess my concern is that it's not 'dressy' enough. For reference, it's a church wedding followed by the reception in a barn type of building later this month.

Ooh, yes good suggestion from Dogandcatperson on velvet jacket.

Alsohuman · 12/11/2019 10:56

It’s definitely Marmite, isn’t it? It’s right up my street but then I’m someone who bought the Zara spotty dress in white and loved it (and the endless compliments) so much I bought the black one when they brought it out. Dresses like that can be dressed up or down.

Knee length boots, a shearling gilet, good jewellery and red lips would look amazing. Now a bodycon dress and stilettos would look frumpy and dated,

cushioncovers · 12/11/2019 10:58

Nope sorry but even the model wearing it looks hideously grumpy and shapeless. It's awful.

banivani · 12/11/2019 11:36

I wouldn't wear it but that's because I hate that kind of tiered ruffly style. On me. Wore that stuff as a child. ;) Granted I'm in Sweden but with the right accessories I def think it's winter wedding suitable. Only concern is if cotton might make it feel too casual?

SallyWD · 12/11/2019 12:22

I think if you're tall, slim and willowy you could look lovely. I'd look like a sack of potatoes in it. I wouldn't wear it with those shoes and socks at a wedding.

maternityleavequestion · 12/11/2019 13:05

Just a warning, I've been to a barn wedding in winter- there was no heating, whatever you wear - remember your thermals just in case!

BeatriceTheBeast · 12/11/2019 13:12

I love it! I would wear it to a wedding in a barn, yes. If it was at the Savoy or something, no.

Also agree that you need to have warm clothes with you, in case it's cold there.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 12/11/2019 13:34

I'm not keen on it OP and I think you'd be freezing. The ceremony is in a church ? I think that dress, boots and a shearling gilet is way too casual for a church wedding. And I agree with a PP about the reception in a barn - do you know if it's going to be hay bales and straw on the floor, or in a barn that's been converted in some way?

MrsMaiselsMuff · 12/11/2019 13:39

Handy if you want to blend in with the curtains.

ViserionTheDragon · 12/11/2019 13:45

Hi all, thanks for the replies. The reception is in a converted barn and is quite fancy. I wouldn't have worn it with the boots the model is wearing, just for clarification. I think it probably is a little too casual so I will carry on looking 😁.

Ah, fancy barn. Yes, I'd also keep looking.

Alsohuman · 12/11/2019 14:18

Fancy barn is surely an oxymoron?

BeThere · 12/11/2019 18:01

Now I keep getting ads for Toast Grin

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 12/11/2019 18:15

onehundredandseventy pound for that?? It looks like a PippaDee nightie!

and if it's cotton you are going to freeze to death! The other colour is even worse!

user1471449295 · 12/11/2019 18:19

It’s not a wedding guest type dress. Looks very shapeless
