It has to cover my dark circles but not settle in my wrinkles underneath my eyes?! I use Mac foundation and currently their concealer but it isn’t cutting it and sits in my creases.

Has anyone found the dogs bollocks of all concealers?!?

I find the ALL do that! I've started putting a little finishing powder over the top with my finger. That works.

BusterGonad · 05/11/2019 09:30

I've heard that using joboba oil before make up stops the creasing, I've never tried it so cannot vouch for it, I personally prefer a highlighter under my eyes as I have dark sunken circles rather than puffiness.

GlitterSparkle85 · 05/11/2019 11:06

Maybelline under eye eraser comes with a spongy brush x

MilliiMoo · 05/11/2019 11:16

I found it's the mineral power that's used in most concealers now. I have concealers from years ago and they fk t settle in creases but new versions do. Make up artist told me it's the mineral powder

XingMing · 05/11/2019 11:54

There was a thread about this last week, try reading that for recommendations.

Cinammoncake · 05/11/2019 14:54

The Bobbi brown one, in a pot - pinky colour that looks like it'll be odd but it works and gets rid of my dark circles totally. You can put concealer over it.

Wonderingwhyme · 05/11/2019 17:36

My concealer looks ok ish but it’s the settling in wrinkles/creases that I want to stop!

The Maybelline one as above is fab

Wonderingwhyme · 05/11/2019 19:32

Thabks I’ll have a look at it. I haven’t bought high street stuff for ages so as there’s no one there to help with shades, what’s the best way to chose the correct shade? I already will have make up on at the shop so I can’t go applying to my under eyes?

Look at colour of your inner arm. Eye eraser is excellent- cannot tell you how much better it is than most. I can use it with no other make up at all and you can't see it.

Invisimamma · 05/11/2019 20:05

I like NYX colour correcter.

Wonderingwhyme · 05/11/2019 20:12

Didn’t know that about inside the arm thanks I’ll try it. Iv tried nyx before for other things so will def try that plus the maybelline one.

I like the one from the Rosie range in M&S and use primer underneath and a small amount of powder to set. Doesn't settle into my wrinkles Smile

Aus84 · 06/11/2019 06:27

I use a colour correcting palette. It has a light orange, green, pink and violet and each colour has a purpose. Very light but very pigmented and sits well under foundation.

Wonderingwhyme · 06/11/2019 06:33

I have a colour corrector palette I bought for a Iv bruise I had. So try lilac? I’ll give that a go this morning thanks for the reminder.

I have tried concealer under foundation (as per Mac counter) over the top, primer, normal powder, setting powder but none of them make a difference. Weird how Mac counter sold me the setting powder for this very reason yet when I went back the other week to ask they said don’t touch the under eye with powder as that causes it to sit in the crease!

Pixi do an amazing one. It's a tiny jar but you don't need a lot. My jar from 2017 is still going and I use it almost every day

Wonderingwhyme · 06/11/2019 07:56

Used my colour correcting pallet and it doesn’t look any better Sad

It cosmetics Goodbye Under eye. It’s incredible. When I first bought it, I was hesitant to use it because I thought it made me look too good (Confused) and that people would know I was wearing concealer. Can’t recommend it enough

Wonderingwhyme · 06/11/2019 08:45

Thanks guinea never heard of them. Do they have a counter? I don’t like to buy online as you can’t tell the colour?

Guineapiggiesmalls · 06/11/2019 08:53

Yeah, they’re in some of the bigger boots. I wear the CC by them too, I’m a complete convert

The Collection eye concealer from Superdrug is cheap as chips and very good

Halo2459 · 06/11/2019 14:20

I'm a former makeup artist and dark circles are always a problem for us tired mom's. Like others have said; colour correction before concealer is always a good base. However, make sure you work in thin layers so it doesn't look cakey and creased. To correct dark circles you have to use a peachy tone if you're pale skinned or an orangey colour if you're darker skinned. Then put concealer over the top.

Charlotte tilbury magic away concealer is really good for anyone over the age of 30 and she does correctors aswell. But that's the higher end of anyone's budget.

There are however loads of really good concealers you can get in boots/superdrug. The Collection one has won beauty awards for many years and the maybelline fit me concealer is a dupe for the Nars creamy concealer. Don't get roped into the painting your whole face and undereye with the concealer though. Put it on the darkest areas and blend out with your finger or a damp beauty sponge. Then set with a small amount of powder. The bourjois healthy mix one is great for this, but remember to go for translucent or a lighter shade than the rest of your face.

Hope this helps Smile

Thanks halo, what about helping it to stop sitting in my creases under my eyes? Iv tried setting powders and make up brushes, using my finger, printers but it looks awful? Also my skin under the eyes gets dry but I look after it, it’s no dry one minute but after makeup the concealer looks like it’s sitting on dry skin and sort of scaley looking?

Hi,
Let me tell you no matter what the concealer, it will always settle into the creases. It's all about the prep before applying the concealer. It's basically the same when you apply eyeshadow. Moisturize your eyelids and under eyes. I usebClinique gel moisturizer. Then I take my Smashbox colour correcting primer and again apply it on top and bottom of the same area. Next I apply my Bobbi Brown weightless skin powder on the primed eyelid and under eyes using the sponge that comes with the powder compact. That's the magic trick. The powder acts as a barrier between the primed eyes and the concealer which stops it from settling into the lines. Once you've powdered then apply the concealer. Because our eyelids and under eyes produce oils the powder helps to remove the excess oils. I swear by this trick as it works for me. I used to have the same problem as my concealer used to crease underneath the eyes and I would get creases on my eyeshadow. Hope this helps.

MiaSalvatore · 06/11/2019 14:38

Just to add once the concealer has been applied use the same powder to set it. I don't use setting powder as it just does not work for me.
