Would you botox these eyes?

Hello all!

A WWYD.

I have (not a boast) quite high cheekbones and strong muscles in my cheeks. It’s hereditary, my brothers and dad have the same facial structure. Since my late twenties I’ve noticed that when smiling my eyes wrinkle deeply and are disproportionately wrinkled/ageing compared to the rest of my face.

I had Botox around my eyes few times when I was 30/31 and it was amazing ! The problem disappeared . But it was expensive.

I’ve since had two babies a year apart, am tired , haven’t had botox while pregnant or BF obviously (am no longer BF). I could afford occasional botox but it’s so hard to find the time to go without my kids ! It would be much more convenient and affordable if I could find a topical solution (I don’t believe one exists - mild peels help a little bit don’t take away the deeply folding skin when smiling). Even better id love to learn not to care ... But I can’t. My eyes are really getting me down... just so wrinkled and ageing when I smile. I’m only 34!

When at rest I don’t have any wrinkles / crows feet. Pics attached - would you just start getting botox again or Should I be forcing myself to rise above it (I wish I could)?!

Genuinely sad you feel like this. You have beautiful eyes and look very healthy from the photograph. It's getting you down? Is it something else that's getting you down and you're projecting on your eyes?? I only ask as if there was an actual problem or scar or whatever that drew attention to your face then I would understand but you're upset about having laughter lines?????

I am not trying to me arsey I just am a bit incredulous. Enjoy your health and youth and children Flowers oh and of courseif you do want Botox - you can have it!

I remember feeling I looked rough when kids were little and I was tired....

Like you I have high cheekbones/prominent cheeks Grin and they push wrinkles around my eyes when I smile

At 48, I can say I can happily live with this, people have actually said I have an expressive face and the high cheek bones look nice in photos. So am counting the positives 🙂

The best thing for my skin is sleep and exercise, getting hot and sweaty improves circulation and really improves skin more than any cream.

What you can do for your skin from the inside (good food, little alcohol, good sleep, exercise) is more effective than any cream.

No. I think laughter lines around your eyes are beautiful. A frozen face and wasting facial muscles not so much.

Mopmum35 · 26/10/2019 11:51

**Only blond or red heads get loads of smile lines in their mid 30s so in my view it is ageing

Ermm really Hmm

Inthemoment38 · 26/10/2019 11:55

No absolutely not.

Your natural face and its expressions are the natural you. Better to focus on feeling comfortable and proud of your lovely natural self. Also do you want to teach young women and girls that they have to pay to modify themselves to feel good?

I hope we can get rid of this idea for future generations.

The thing is, what happens later on in life. A little bit now looks natural but that amount will keep increasing and the frozen face will come eventually. It’s a very hard look on almost anyone as the human expressions we give to one another when we communicate are no longer there.

I think you look lovely.

The only person that I know who has Botox looks very wax like. And it's obvious when it needs topping up as her lines look worse than if she'd left them IMO
I'm another advocate for excerise, water and skincare.
These are my 48 year old eyes, relaxed and smiling

However good Botox and your practitioner is, to stop those lines, the muscles that make your face do that would have to be paralysed. Therefore the smile in your eyes will stop or at least be affected. Surely this is a good reason not to do it!

Ikeameatballs · 26/10/2019 17:09

RogueV it was suggested because I asked to just “look fresher” as I felt that I looked really tired, I couldn’t really put my finger on what had changed about my face! The doctor I saw, who I went to med school with so I trusted him, suggested fillers over where my natural cheek pads are because as we age we tend to lose fat from there and it then makes those folds at the sides of your nose more prominent, a bit like your face melts downwards in the middle...my dramatic description! I think it made a massive difference and I also had a small amount of Botox on the sides of my face next to my eyes to reduce the “crows feet” wrinkles. I’m really pleased with the result, it’s subtle but effective.

Cleverplayonwords · 26/10/2019 17:40

No, I wouldn't get anything injected into my face ever tbh.
They're laughter lines anyway, not wrinkles.

TheStuffedPenguin · 27/10/2019 08:50

I know many people who have botox and not one of them looks "waxy" . The only horrors I see are the TOWIE etc over pumped idiots . People who find out I have botox are amazed . They say " but you look so natural" . I go to a facial and dermatologist consultant and it is no more expensive than dentists , nail spas etc . It is everyone's choice what to do but people should not be made to feel as if there is something wrong with them if they choose to do so . It would be like me saying " your wrinkles are really deep and age you , have you never thought about getting them seen to ?" . However as the OP asked I answered.

neighbourhoodwitch · 27/10/2019 08:53

NO!!

Teacakeandalatte · 27/10/2019 08:59

I wouldn't, I bet no-one else even notices those lines. Save the money for something you will really enjoy.

Craftycorvid · 27/10/2019 09:03

You have lovely eyes, OP, and smile lines are beautiful in my opinion. They are also inevitable no matter how young you are!
