Cushioned boots and Brogues for bad joints

Sickoffamilydrama · 19/10/2019 11:26

Has anyone come across fashionable Cushioned boots and brogues? I've looked at Geox but not sure if they are cushioned of just clumpy soles.

I'm 40 and have hyper mobility I've upped my exercise recently to try and prevent my joint symptoms getting worse and to get generally fit switched from an on my feet job to office with lots of travel so lost fitness . But my joints particularly knees really ache that's just from a brisk just over a mile walk to the station in Clarks brogues.

One foot is developing a bunion so need lace up or straps to prevent it getting worse.

The brand's for 'older people' often make them to wide and I don't usually like the style.

It's a bit depressing because I love shoes and fashion but I don't want to have crippling joint problems as I get older.

Any thoughts? I don't have a clue on budget (usually buy from eBay/ sales cause I'm tight but would pay anything for some comfort Wink

*cushioned or just clumpy soles.

Stupid auto correct 🙄

I have just this moment ordered a pair of boots from the “forever comfort” range at Next. For similar, skeleton-in-increasing-rebellion reasons.

Obviously I can’t comment on what they’re like yet, but I’ll mark my place here and update when they arrive.

Sickoffamilydrama · 19/10/2019 11:47

Thanks Tottie haven't looked at next shoes in a while kind of gave up but might take a look.

2020 is going to be the year I get fit I was but then mucked it up having DS3, changing careers and doing a master's all in last 3 years. Got to finish my dissertation by January then I'm free.

And then maybe I'll be able to wear than just lace ups!

I wish I’d achieved as much in the past three years! You definitely need comfortable shoes.

MontyPythonsFlyingFuck · 19/10/2019 11:58

Hotter are normally hideous but comfortable, with a few less grannyish styles. Eg how about www.hotter.com/gb/en/padstow-boots?fit=Standard+Fit&colour=Dark%20Tan

Sickoffamilydrama · 19/10/2019 12:00

Thanks wasnt planned that way Grin I think I need my head read or Gin

Good thing is with the next one's I could buy a few for the prices.

They’ve got every style on earth, haven’t they?

MontyPythonsFlyingFuck · 19/10/2019 12:10

And Ecco are also comfortable but more spendy. I rely on these with Birkenstocks in the summer - hypermobility & arthritis here, have had 1 hip and 1 knee replaced and will soon need other knee done.

Heavenly feet boots from shoe zone.

stripes1 · 19/10/2019 12:17

Haven’t tried them but Skechers do boots not just trainers and I think they have the same cushioned soles that the trainers have.

picklemepopcorn · 19/10/2019 12:18

I need to be on this thread! My Rieker boots are disappointing- ok but not squishy or bouncy as I need.

Hotter have been brilliant.

Both !! .. my friend has them and apparently very comfy

Sickoffamilydrama · 19/10/2019 12:51

Yes Tottie next never used to have this many shoes or maybe I didn't notice them.

Thanks Monty I have some Ecco knee boots and a pair of summer Mary Jane type trainers I sometimes find they can look good in the image then they come and are hideous.

I'll look at heavenly feet thanks Skye.

The Skechers trainers I have seem to have to stiff/big a sole so they kind of send me off balance which isn't good for hyper mobility I probably just need to try some other styles thanks stripes.

Pickleme yes it's the squishy shock absorbing I'll have another look at hotter.

Gubby not more next the delivery driver will hate me 🤫 and if my very tight never buy anything even though they have the money DSis in law and MIL see that delivery they won't stop dropping annoying hints about my overspending Hmm

I like vionic shoes . They are often wide fit and feature arch support and a heel cup. I have flat feet and am starting to get arthritis and was having knee issues until I started wearing these. They are also really stylish and so much nicer than hotter. Lots of them popping up cheaply in the Tk Maxx website at the moment.

Pancakeflipper · 19/10/2019 12:56

Have a look at Heavenly Feet, obe of my relatives has similar issues to you and has some new winter boots by them that are comfy and wide for space. They have brogues from Rieker which are well thick inside for comfort

Sickoffamilydrama · 19/10/2019 13:52

Sorry to hear so many others are having joint issues.

Teta I've heard of vionic but never tried them I'll go have a look. Pancake I'll definitely check them out thanks.
I've been doing a bit of an eBay search and these came up as Skechers, they aren't cushioned and a bit marmite but I love them... may have to hold myself back from buying them. rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F312807584744

There are lots of boots in tkmax website, but none have reviews. I've had rocket dog which were wonderful for a month or so, but then the soles crumbled.

Sickoffamilydrama · 19/10/2019 14:26

Love these from heavenly feet

Those are nice. The shoezone site is more searchable, and has great heavenly feet boots, too.

TileFloors · 19/10/2019 17:29

Lots of lovely hiker style boots in M&S at the moment. I have these and love them. They’re quite a narrow fit and are very cushioned:

I’ve also got and wear constantly these brogues, which are also very cushioned and comfortable:

MontyPythonsFlyingFuck · 19/10/2019 20:25

Meant to say earlier that these are also very good: www.boots.com/pain-relief--1/pain-orthotics-insoles/boots-pharmaceuticals-1

alphaechokiwi · 19/10/2019 20:43

Vionic Serena ankle boots, stylish, hard wearing and designed to support your feet. I love mine...

Skyejuly · 19/10/2019 20:51

I've just worn my heavenly feet boots all around rome and I was the only person in the group with no foot complaints!
