Are Seasalt coats worth the money?

I see Seasalt coats a lot on here. I need a new decent waterproof coat but it just seems a lot to spend on a coat. Are they worth the money?

Yes

DerbyshireOatcake · 13/10/2019 18:54

I think so (and I live somewhere very wet 😁).

Chottie · 13/10/2019 18:56

Yes, I bought a waterproof coat from Seasalt and it really is waterproof even in the heaviest downpour.

Xiaoxiong · 13/10/2019 18:57

Yes. I just bought a Janelle coat from Seasalt and it is brilliant. It's warm but not too hot and it breathes, it's completely waterproof and it looks good.

littlecabbage · 13/10/2019 18:57

I bought one but didn't think to check the hood size. It didn't rain for a while, and when it did, I found the hood too small. I do tend to wear my hair up, but still think it should have been big enough to accommodate that, with an adjuster buckle or something.

I had mainly bought it for wet weather, so sold it on Ebay.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 13/10/2019 18:58

Yes. I live in Cumbria, which should tell you all you need to know about the efficacy of the coats!

slipperyeel · 13/10/2019 19:21

Yes, I was only this morning thinking what a great purchase mine was!

shoofly · 13/10/2019 19:23

No, soaked through in first heavy rainfall. It looks so much nicer than other raincoats though, which was so disappointing!

slipperyeel · 13/10/2019 19:24

I have a coverack coat

FeltCarrot · 13/10/2019 19:31

Mine is about to see me through my 6th winter, I work with reception children so am outside in all weathers. When it’s really cold I just wear extra layers, always stay dry.

Bananasandchocolatecustard · 13/10/2019 19:36

They are worth the price.

Auldspinster · 13/10/2019 19:36

My mum has one and loves it.

CrazylazyJane · 13/10/2019 19:37

Worth every penny.
Also a Reception teacher and out in all weathers. My Seasalt coat keeps me absolutely dry. 3 years on, I'm still shocked when I take it off after a heavy downpour and I'm dry. I've just bought another one in a different colour and length to go with other outfits.

8by8 · 13/10/2019 19:42

They’re lovely, warm and dry.

The hoods can be a bit small though - I do have a big head to be fair (have to wear men’s hats), but worth checking the fit.

They last well so would be fine secondhand, there’s always some on eBay.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/10/2019 19:49

I bought a Janelle coat last year, I've worn it all winter and summer as it's roomy enough for a jumper but light enough for a spring/autumn day without. It's great. In the heavy rain last week the water was literally running off it into my boots but I was Absolutely bone dry underneath. And it's windproof.

piefacedClique · 13/10/2019 19:50

YES YES YES

Cahira · 13/10/2019 19:53

Yes. I currently alternate between the Seafolly light raincoat and Spinnaker lined waterproof coat. I like the Spinnaker as it has an additional flap on the hood that gives extra coverage in heavy rain. As well as it being windproof and comfortable.

Flyingsouthwiththeswallows · 13/10/2019 20:03

Yes.

Tested my new Plant Hunter during a week of walking on the very wet Suffolk East Coast two weeks ago and again today walking into Town.

Looks wise it worked for both and left me toasty warm and dry.

I even got a compliment on it from my teenage Grandaughter yesterday.

Worth every pound I reckon !!

Redbrook · 13/10/2019 20:13

Definitely. I have a plant hunter and a jacket whose name escapes me. Both are totally waterproof, and the plant hunter is toasty warm all winter. Would definitely buy from them again.

So, blue or green?

Green. Everybody and their dog already have the blue one, I’d get green just to be a bit different.

Doubleraspberry · 15/10/2019 19:25

They are quite often on sale near me (mine was half price) so depending on how urgently you need one you might want to keep an eye on it for a bit.

LoyaltyBonus · 15/10/2019 19:26

Yes, a good coat that actually does what a coat should do is quite literally life changing

I have a Janelle. Pretty waterproof in my view. Great length too. Reaches my wellies so I’m dry!
