Best Body Moisturisers?

Can anyone recommend me one? DP complimented how soft my skin felt last night, and whilst it was nice to hear, it made me realise that I actually don't take good care of it so I want to start.

I did try a Palmers Cocoa butter formula one once, specifically for the body, but it was so greasy and made my fingers drag across my skin weirdly (if that makes sense). It didn't really feel like it sunk in either.

I only really moisturise my face and neck with the Nivea blue tub stuff, so would love to hear what others use for body that doesn't feel sticky or greasy. Thanks :)

The Shea Moisture ones are really good - especially the coconut hibiscus ones. Moistures and smoothes without leaving a film or stickiness.

Lush charity pot for me

CinnamonSweet73 · 11/10/2019 19:13

Nivea Soft is lovely.

Exercise will make your skin soft.

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 11/10/2019 19:16

Aveeno is lovely, especially the cream one or the one with almond oil

Neutrogena hydro boost body lotion. It sinks in quickly with no residue and it's hyaluronic acid based, so really hydrating.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone :)

This one's interesting. Is a body lotion as good as a moisturiser? Are they the same thing?

Doesn't sound like you need one or at least not a really thick one like I need.
This Sanctuary one is my no.1
www.boots.com/sanctuary-spa-ultra-rich-wet-skin-moisture-miracle-200ml-10263337

No. 2 is Body Shop Shea Butter.
No. 3 is Palmer's, but not the normal body lotion - I use the little tubs for dry parts of the skin all over.

RuggyPeg · 11/10/2019 21:13

You need one with something active in it, like one of the acids. So ameliorate, the new salicylic acid Cerave one or the Dove one with acids in.

Garnier 7 day moisturiser (green bottle) is fab and often on offer. Really effective, cheap and last ages. Much better than the L'occitane shea butter I was using.

dementedma · 11/10/2019 21:23

I agree that exercise helps make the skin soft, weirdly. Also exfoliating with a scrubby glove and then coconut oil. Dead cheap, no chemicals, recyclable glass jar.

BlackSwan · 11/10/2019 21:25

How does exercise make your skin softer? Increased oxygen?

I agree exercise makes your skin soft, I recently started walking, body pump and running, I only do the park run which is 5k one episode a week . My skin is smooth, cellulite free and very soft, I can hardly see the pores.

TheWashingMachine · 11/10/2019 21:29

L'Occitan is rubbish, Vaseline intensive care for me, in the white bottle, plus it doesn't smell strong.

sproutsandparsnips · 11/10/2019 21:31

And I like the garnier 7 day moisturiser yellow bottle.

Gwenhwyfar · 11/10/2019 23:15

I've never had that particular benefit from exercise. If anything, I think it can do the opposite if it leads people to having to shower more often. Two showers a day are not good for you.

Glitterb · 12/10/2019 10:31

Nivea has a good body moisturiser, which is often an offer

I also love the body shop ones as well but they are pricey for an everyday one

Try bathing in magnesium flakes, makes your skin really soft.

Just Googled those and they look cool, too. I'd never heard of them! I'll definitely give them a try., thank you.

You have to buy loads of magnesium flakes just for one bath. I don't think they're an easy option.
Please try the Sanctuary one I mentioned above - best body lotion I've found in a lifetime of trying different ones.

JeSuisPrest · 12/10/2019 11:13

Nivea Rich Nourishing body lotion 500ml bottle is about £6. Smells lovely and not greasy. I think you need to try a few for your skin type though - the Nivea blue tub stuff goes on me like lard and takes forever to rub in.

crimsonlake · 12/10/2019 11:14

I can purchase one bag of magnesium flakes for £4.50, usually can eek 3 baths out of it. However it is generally used as a stress reliever, aching muscles and a restful nights sleep. It is wonderful stuff, although I have occasionally used it as a body scrub mixed in with olive oil.
As a money saving exercise I usually make my own scrub using a jar of coconut oil bought from the supermarket and brown sugar. I simply combine both and store in tub, works great.
If I am being lazy I just slap on some baby oil in the shower after I have turned the shower off.

Annasgirl · 12/10/2019 11:18

I agree with the poster who said Nuetrogena Hydro Boost in the blue pump bottle. It is amazing - I say this as someone who has tried them all over 30 plus years.

Also, body scrub every shower with gloves (best one are Soap and Glory in Boots).

You will then get compliments from everyone you meet about your amazing skin (I do!).

I wouldn't use the body lotion on my face but it is based on the facial one.

thefamousfiveplusone · 12/10/2019 11:25

My all time favourite body moisturiser is actually Hawaiian Tropic aftersun body butter. It smells amazing and leaves your skin silky soft.
