Personally I think the issue is bigger than individual brands.

What brands are part of your affiliate programme? Why is this not clear?

Do you not agree this takes away from the objective opinions of other posters that many users saw as your USP?

I'm also kind of concerned you don't see affiliate marketing as a form of advertising!!

Actually I think it's more detrimental to your brand as it weakens your position as voice of the ordinary woman.

@RunningOutOfCharacte I am a human person who buys clothes. Shoot me, they do not pay me! I think it's you who are being slightly over defensive of your position. What the heck does it matter? MNHQ have stated now, having mistakenly not, that the Hush sale thread is sponsored. Do you never ever see any adverts! Click nothing not ever? I'd rather MN made a bit of money through me clicking through a link than by accepting adverts from say the Brexit party or nestle or amazon. I click links on the guardian, red online, all sorts of stuff. MN has to make money or it would fail.

I also love Boden and 80% of my clothes come from there, if they are Reading this id be happy for them to pay me as I buy tons more from there than from hush. I cannot get to a real life shop so am absolutely at in online shopping and the recommendations of others as to what is good out there

You just seem to miss the point spectacularly.

Yeah hush is better than primark. But it's a heck of a lot more expensive than primark. I expect better. And it seems I'm not the only one.

You love it. Good for you. Well done. I'm happy for you. But you keep popping up here to defend it which makes you sound a trifle obsessed.

Yeah I know a lot about advertising. I work in it. I know how it works and I also know how detrimental it can be when sites aren't scrupulously clear.

And let's not forget where this started. Mumsnet broke ASA rules with a sponsored ad. I have a right to enquire seeing as how it's fairly basic stuff I shouldn't have to point out.

I think I'm bored today tbh and you are entertaining me because you are soooo annoyed about people earning money from brands, especially given you work in advertising! I'm really defending MN which needs an income stream to keep going. I would hate to see it go under. I don't care if Hush survives or not. Although I like their t shirts and jeans. It hardly provides much of a service to humanity and if it fell then someone else would pop up to replace it. Unlike MN. After all, we wouldn't be happy on Netmums would we?

Yeah I just like to see people play by the rules. And if mumsnet can't abide by ASA regulations maybe I should report them. Wasn't going to mind. But your constant waffling has pushed me over the edge.

Your backtracking over hush is pretty amazing. If I were them I'd be asking for my money back.
