Does anyone else have a complete ban on character clothing and accessories?

Or would you buy items like umbrellas, bags, towels, hats, sunglasses, gloves, scarves, pants, vests, socks, pjs, dressing gown, swimwear, raincoats, puddlesuits, wellies, slippers etc with tv characters on?

Not really, m8ne have never had much, more pjs, socks, pants. We do have a ban on clothes with slogans- particularly sexist rubbish like 'girls like sparkles and mermaids' or random hastags that dds wouldn't even understand!

Yy slogans are a real PITA. Many a lovely article ruined by random or offensive text.

Doesn't bother me in the least - why would it?? Dd1 mostly wears band t shirts, dd2 wears what she wants - today was an oversized t shirt with Jerry mouse on it.

I don't mind if the child is old enough to like that character but I'm not a fan of babies wearing Minnie Mouse or whatever the parents like.

Nah. I’m not keen on it, but I’m not so miserable to stop my children choosing items with their favourite characters on just so I could prove a point

No, its daft, Dd had akk kinds of character clothing when she was little, she liked it.
Now she's a teen she mainly wears skinny jeans and DMs with TV/band/film t shirts!

It would never occur to me that it might be a problem, there are more important things to get uptight about

Before I had kids I would have said no way but now these actual people in my life love these things, I do. I limit it, and it took me a while to accept, but now I happily buy them from time to time as it is what they want for birthday etc.

I always think these rules are ridiculously snobby, and it achieves the opposite to the desired effect - it really doesn't make you seem classier. This is an issue people are keen to virtue signal about in real life too, which is very useful in working out who to avoid. I don't go out of my way to buy character clothing, but if we've been in the supermarket and DD sees some Moana pyjamas or whatever I'm not going to say no because I think people might think I'm the dreaded 'common'

I don't particularly like character stuff & I have tried to restrict it to mainly underwear & pjs. But they now do have the odd shirt with characters on & now wellies too 🙈

Children love clothes with characters on them, wheres the problem

I’m not keen but I’ve witnessed DD (just two) going up to other kids to point out their shirt/wellies/whatever and say “Peppa”, “George” etc so if she enjoys it and it doesn’t look garish then I’d allow it.

It's never bothered me, DD1 is 21 and still wears character stuff, mainly Harry Potter and Marvel.
We both wear band t shirts and I'm currently sitting in Snoopy pyjamas.

Aww so much misery! Mine love character clothing - they get so much joy from it!

I don’t allow shit sexist slogans though.

I don't like it at all, but most of my DSs' clothes feature either Pokemon or Minecraft. It makes them happy so I have learnt to live with it!

DS1 never liked any of it except pants (Thomas the tank engine), so I never bought any of it. I quite liked that he didn’t like it, to be honest.

DS2 loves wearing Thomas the tank engine and The Gruffalo clothes, socks, pants, but especially pyjamas. M and s does a decent quality range of Thomas clothes, which helps.

But essentially, they’ve worn what they wanted to wear.

I don’t mind it, character clothes are not particularly aesthetically appealing but my son likes paw patrol wellies and knickers, and his batman jumper and he’s the one wearing them so I don’t care really. (I was not allowed character clothes as a child sob sob)

A complete ban sounds unnecessarily harsh to me. It’s hardly just Asda you need to avoid.

Usually characters mask poor quality IMO. I don't mind a a subtle character logo t-shirt but squirm at the acres of polyester in Disney clobber and the like .

I haven't bought any character outdoor wear for our son yet. He has Thomas the tank slippers and PJs and a gifted pair of batman PJs.

I personally think there are such nice clothes out there, that the character ones aren't in the running, but as our son gets older, if he wants them I suppose it would be his choice.

Wow, people actually care about something so pretty as this? My dc wear characters, they wear camo, they wear band t shirts....

So long as its age appropriate and not offensive I dont care

I don't love them and certainly they tend to stay 'in the wash' longer than than clothes I've chosen. I feel bad completely banning them though.
My 8 year old is crazy about football and would happily wear full football kit daily if I let him. I really hate it unless he's actually playing or going to watch.
