Is it a case of just using make-up remover on them or is there some other special concoction I've yet to hear of?

I just use hot water and baby shampoo, works fine for me.

CremeDeSudo · 01/10/2019 17:09

Me too. Although I have wondered if I could just chuck them in the washing machine!

PurpleDaisies · 01/10/2019 17:11

I never clean mine...

BlingLoving · 01/10/2019 17:12

I don't do it often enough but use warm water and shampoo.

TheMonaOgg · 01/10/2019 17:13

Warm water and antibacterial handwash.

PullingMySocksUp · 01/10/2019 17:13

Hot water and washing up liquid. Careful not to get too much hot water on the part the handle meets the top bit of the glue falls apart.
Or surgical spirit works too.

skippy67 · 01/10/2019 17:18

18 year old DD uses baby shampoo and hot water.

GlamGiraffe · 01/10/2019 17:24

For a proper clean shampoo and water. I wrap them in tissue when drying to keep their shape. For a quick clean, Primark make up brush cleaner spray and cotton wool. Spray on liberally and swirl brush on cotton wool pad, repeat until clean. Doesnt really take any significant time to dry.

TacoFlavouredKisses · 01/10/2019 17:24

Hot water, shampoo and a little washing pad thing to rub them on from that was about a quid from Primark.

ExplodingCarrots · 01/10/2019 17:27

I have a proper brush cleaner which is hard and foams up with water.

I clean my make up sponges with hard soap. The best ones are them small soaps you get free at hotels. It's been a game changer for me.

Sparkey47 · 01/10/2019 17:31

I just use hot water and shampoo and give them a really good scrub! I don’t do it as often as I should though, and it’s probably gross but I actually think my beauty blender applies so much better when it’s already caked in foundation 😬

thisenglishlife · 01/10/2019 17:32

Sponges can go in the machine - put in a delicates bag.

jalopy · 01/10/2019 17:34

Hot water and washing up liquid.

Ridingthegravytrain · 01/10/2019 17:55

Washing machine and then tumble drier in with towels wash or something. They haven’t fallen apart yet

TacoFlavouredKisses · 01/10/2019 17:59

Washing machine AND tumble dryer!!! Shock Noooo!

HundredMilesAnHour · 01/10/2019 19:53

I use Trish McEvoy make-up brush cleaner. I also use Trish make-up brushes and they're still going strong 20 years later!!

ReeRi · 02/10/2019 08:52

Washing machine?? Is that a joke?

I use a gentle shampoo once a week 🧴 In between I clean them on a kitchen towel or wet wipe.

I also have a colour switch which is a fine with a dry sponge in it and you swirl the brush to take off the colour so you can switch colours eg for eyeshadow brushes without wetting the brush.

HomerDancing · 02/10/2019 09:26

For my brushes I use Fairy liquid and for my foundation sponges I put them in the washing machine

TattiePants · 02/10/2019 09:58

I put neat washing up liquid into the palm of my hand then lightly scrub the brushes into the liquid, rinse in warm and repeat until clean.

championquartz · 02/10/2019 10:01

Ooh! I know! I know! I know a great hack!
Fairly liquid and oil. My expert Hmm teen makes a concoction of fairy liquid and oil. Any oil will do, (atm is sunflower oil), just a tiny bit. Mix together. Clean brushes. Rinse. They come up like new in seconds. It's quite amazing.
So far my brushes are fine.

Clickncollect · 02/10/2019 19:20

Shampoo for me too! Literally put the shampoo in a sink filled with warm water and swirl the brush round - watch the water turn orange! Keep emptying and refilling the sink and swirling until the water is clear.

millymoo1202 · 02/10/2019 20:55

Mac do a fantastic brush cleaner, literally melts it away, if I don’t have that I just use baby shampoo but not nearly as good. X

frugalkitty · 02/10/2019 20:56

Hot water and baby shampoo here.

ReeRi · 02/10/2019 21:13

They often have them in TK Max as well as other brands

Slightly off topic but TK Maxx has some nice real techniques brushes in, not the standard ones but ones from other ranges. The blue ones are lovely
