Sagging face

droopyface · 23/09/2019 11:17

I avoid taking photos of myself now but on the rare occasion I have it is obvious that my face is sagging a lot. It's all happened so quickly over the last few years. It is stress jay has caused the aging I am sure. I am 44. What can I do to reverse or at least stop it from getting worse?

Facial yoga/exercises? Facial massage with oil. Are there specific massage techniques or any specific oils/creams that can help.

It's quite demoralising that my MIL who is 71 has better skin and an uplifted face than me.
Would appreciate any tips.

Botox. I am 48 and felt just the same about my face, especially in photos. I’m really pleased with the results I’ve had from my first injections, forehead, between brows and side of eyes. It’s no facelift but I look fresher. In a few weeks I’m going to have my top up and another area to sort sides of mouth. My doctor also advised filler to give my ‘flat’ cheeks some definition.

Branster · 23/09/2019 20:44

There might be a combination of procedures that would help including threads possibly fillers as well.
Facial massage will absolutely help to lift the contours of the face and slow down the sagging process but you must be religious about doing it regularly. Yes use some oil to get a bit of slip, you can remove excess afterwards. Any oil would do and eventually you can buy an antiageing mix you like or make your own. Use your hands and make your own routine with inspiration from books, YouTube videos or a professional
facialist.
Do it every day, start with 3 min a day and increase to 5/10 min a day plus a longer session once a week. Sleep on your back (this is the hardest thing in the world to do but so worth it). I don’t follow an official technique as such but have incorporated face massage ideas from various sources over the last two decades which is not a very coherent system but works for me. Also pulling funny faces, gentle slapping of under chin with the back of your hands, alternate hot and cold water on the face finishing with cold and so on.

I've just got one of those roller micro needle things it came with the acid and it does seemed feel plumped up. I have also had the hifu treatments which are good to look fresher .

I bought Eva Fraser facial exercises book from Amazon.

Have yet to try it but it's supposed to be good & I want to prevent jowls.

It was about £6.

PippiDeLena · 23/09/2019 21:35

I do Facerobics face exercises from YouTube. You have to do it every day (takes 5-10 minutes) and you could really see results after a couple of months. Unfortunately I got complacent, stopped doing it, and my face started looking like a melted candle again, so I'm starting anew!

Also try to eat lots of healthy fats, like salmon, avocado and full fat coconut milk. These make a massive difference to your skin.

Another YouTube channel you might find inspirational: The Face Yoga Expert Danielle Collins

Following with interest - fellow stressed and tired 44 year old whose face is melting...

Sarcelle · 24/09/2019 00:00

I am 54. I have very good skin, just tiny wrinkles fanning out from corners of eyes. Thought I was doing ok.

However DH took a photo of me recently. I am getting jowly, just a little bit, just to the side of my chin, the flesh is slipping down. Depressing. It is going to start sliding down like melting snow down the mountainside.

Goes off to look at You Tube.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 24/09/2019 00:04

I have no idea if they work but you can get slendertone for the face, more drastic measures I would imagine would be fillers or if you have a severely sagging neck and jaw then I guess only surgery would fix it.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 24/09/2019 00:07

I’m the same Sarcelle wrinkles I can cope with, embrace even! they add character (to a point!) but the sagging.....and it really shows up on photos, so much more than when I look in my kind friendly mirror.

Sarcelle · 24/09/2019 00:08

Yes my mirror is fond of me, but the camera less so!

morrisseysquif · 24/09/2019 00:15

Lots of face yoga on youtube, kiss the ceiling exercise is quite an easy one.

I'm doing some exercise in this book

RonaldMcDonald · 24/09/2019 00:53

Thread lift with filler works very well
No down time and good, natural results

Using a dermal roller also helps but it is a pita - ditto facial exercise

JMAngel1 · 24/09/2019 05:46

I have had giod results with the following
No sugar - sugar destroys collagen
Water
Collagen protein powder
Microneedling fwice weekky - really plumps
Abigail James YT massage videos - I swear my cheeks lift in front if my eyes
Radiofrequency facials
NuFace and Dermawand
LED mask
A good retinol product - so individual but Poppy Austin works for me
Lots of good fats. avocado, flaxseed etc
Weight balance - if I go over my ideal weight I can look jowly but if I go under my ideal weight, I can look saggy and gaunt.

AutumnRose1 · 24/09/2019 05:50

I'm 43, embarking in weight loss but aware that fat is probably helping my face!

I thought about microneedling but the description is scary. How does it feel?

JMAngel1 · 24/09/2019 06:51

It's not painful - you start out with 0.25mm length and run it gently over your face - no pressing. I go over each area ariund 10 times - 20 under my eyes and it's massively helping my eye bags and nose to mouth lines/sag. Plus under jaw much firmer.

RuggyPeg · 24/09/2019 07:46

Microneedling isn't a bit scary. Once you try it, you'll quickly see that it's fine.

Miniloso · 24/09/2019 07:54

@JMAngel1 where do you buy your rollers from?

I take marine collagen supplement and it really helps. I don’t eat sugar, eat lots of healthy fats. Facial yoga has been great too.

droopyface · 24/09/2019 08:04

Lots of great advice here and I admit a lot of things I have never heard of. I am going to go and investigate.

Following as I've noticed this year joels are appearing. Aged 48.

BobbyDazzler99 · 24/09/2019 08:11

Jowls

AutumnRose1 · 24/09/2019 09:30

Thanks
Sorry I should have been clearer

It bothers me because it looks like it might damage the skin. My skin is fragile and if get a cut or something, I literally can't get rid of the mark.

madcatladyforever · 24/09/2019 09:35

Me too OP, it started in the menopause and now I can't even look at my neck. I did think about a neck lift but decided I can't be bothered Grin
I'm not planning on having any more relationships and makeup, figure and the way you dress go a long way to help.

katseyes7 · 24/09/2019 09:35

l've got one of these, and l got such good results with it (one day l noticed l actually had 'my' chin back!) l bought another one as a backup. Worth a try, it's cheap as chips and you only need a couple of minutes a day. l do it more than that when l remember. www.wish.com/product/5a1bd57a8654036442a8da19?hide_login_modal=true&from_ad=goog_shopping&_display_country_code=GB&_force_currency_code=GBP&pid=googleadwords_int&c=%7BcampaignId%7D&ad_cid=5a1bd57a8654036442a8da19&ad_cc=GB&ad_curr=GBP&ad_price=2.00&campaign_id=6493229882&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2LbXtobp5AIVUkPTCh33Lw9gEAQYAyABEgKuk_D_BwE

KatharinaRosalie · 24/09/2019 09:42

Fillers. Honestly, I can't imagine what a difference just 1ml in my cheeks made. All the sagging jowls lifted right back up.
