As always, let's critique the clothes and not the wearers.

PS: I also live in England! Have been here for about eight years, but out of Ireland since I was 19, so 16 years (yikes).

BigGreenOlives · 27/09/2019 14:24

I’m not Irish at all.

I like the threads because the women, although ultra rich and living very different lives to me, are more relatable than soap opera stars, Hollywood actresses or Kardashians.

I even bought a Beulah London dress in the sale, £135 instead of £450. I’ve worn it twice so far.

TheOliphantintheRoom · 27/09/2019 14:27

I caught a bit of a programme about royal dressmakers last night. I realised that whilst both Kate and Meghan are attractive women who can look very glamorous, they don't have Diana's star power and just never will. She was so charismatic that, although she wasn't a classic beauty, you couldn't take your eyes off her.

TipseyTorvey · 27/09/2019 15:31

How many regular members of this thread are there? I rarely contribute but bloody love them. Light relief in choppy seas. Also am a similar colour and body shape to Meghan so using her as my personal shopper but at JL prices 😂.

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 27/09/2019 15:57

100% lurker but originally from Belfast and now living in Scotland.

latedecember1963 · 27/09/2019 16:07

I love this thread too, it's my first port of call each morning. I agree with Green Olives that the women are more relatable than film/ tv stars.
I saw a bit of the dressmaking programme but not all as my mum phoned part way through. I agree about Diana's star quality. I remember seeing her on the news getting out of the car in that strapless black dress shortly after they got engaged and thinking what a transformation.
She was just so beautiful.I don't think the technology for touching up photos was particularly advanced in the early 80s so she must have been radiant in real life.

latedecember1963 · 27/09/2019 16:14

I can't claim any Irish heritage. I'm mostly English with a Welsh maternal grandmother.

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/09/2019 16:15

I watched a documentary on the house of Windsor recently and several of the talking heads said the only member of the royal family who's ever matched Diana for charisma and star power was Edward VIII when he was Prince of Wales. He was massively popular and photographed everywhere he went too.

I'm American, but my great-grandfather was Irish, and I have kissed the Blarney Stone. Smile

Wetdogloveshubert · 27/09/2019 17:10

The landmine clearing must have been an emotional visit for Harry.

But I still think he needs a better haircut; it's just too fluffy!

Inniu · 27/09/2019 17:29

@SenecaFalls

Although I am definitely Irish I was born not far from your username.

frugalkitty · 27/09/2019 17:33

I'm not remotely Irish but I am half Cornish.

JaimeBronde · 27/09/2019 17:39

And you have Norwegian in your airing cupboard @frugalkitty 🤣

JPduck · 27/09/2019 17:56

100% lurker, love the royals🤴🏼👸🏻, normally too slow to post as its already been shared 🙃

frugalkitty · 27/09/2019 18:04

Yes that's true Jaime Grin

PhannyMcNee · 27/09/2019 18:41

100% lurker here as well. Not Irish though - Yorkshire born and bred but living in Cornwall.

Neither stylish nor beautiful but hugely Royalist. I enjoy the gentle gossip of this thread along with following what the various royals are up to Smile

LaPampa · 27/09/2019 18:49

Mostly a lurker occasional commenter. Kate and Meghan are the same age as me so interesting to see how they deal with similar age related issues.

keiratwiceknightly · 27/09/2019 18:53

I'm a quarter norn Irish which is a good metaphor for my input to the threads... love reading them/looking at the pics etc but rarely comment 😁

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 27/09/2019 18:59

Not a bit Irish either - English living in Canada. These threads are lovely. Looking forward to another Royal Bride and all accompanying outfits.

AngelaScandal · 27/09/2019 19:00

@Senecafalls kissing the Blarney Stone qualifies you for an irish passport ☘️

I love this thread. The first thing I thought of whenever i saw the Bea engagement pictures was oooh another royal wedding with the style and gossip gang

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 27/09/2019 19:08

haha me too Bosco Grin

DuchessDumbarton · 27/09/2019 19:51

I'm 100% Irish living in 100% Irish-land- I've lurked and commented since the first thread.
Which is funny, cos I wouldn't pick up "Hello" or the like, at the hairdressers.
I think it the mixture of style, history and the lack mainly of bitchiness or gossip. Love these threads.

lakeswimmer · 27/09/2019 20:03

Another lurker here - no Irish in me as far as I know - English with a bit of Scottish.

I've been here from the beginning - no idea why as I really don't have any interest in clothes or make-up - but like @DuchessDumbarton I enjoy the gentle mix of gossip, history and escapism.

AdaColeman · 27/09/2019 20:18

I’m not Irish at all, but I’ve followed Ireland’s rugby team for years, and always make my porridge with Flahaven’s oats, does that count? 🇮🇪 🇮🇪 🇮🇪 🇮🇪

EmGee · 27/09/2019 20:34

I have British, Irish and French nationality! And I was born in Wales, brought up in England but went to university in Scotland. It's quite handy when the rugby is on.....I can switch allegiance according to who is winning!

I don't post much but like other PPs, I love these threads. They are my 'go to' on Mumsnet so thankyou Queen for creating them, and all the regulars who tirelessly post pictures and links to all things royally sartorial (and dare I say, gossipy!!)
