When did you get your first line or wrinkle?

Did it make it change your skincare routine or make any lifestyle changes (eg. reducing smoking or less time in the sun)?

OP posts:
Oldraver · 15/09/2019 20:21

54....still waiting. Ive never been a sun worshiper though also dont regularily wear anyhting with sunblock. Never smoked which I think really helps.

My skin is very blotchy and very reactive so I think lack of wrinkles is my pay off

mindproject · 15/09/2019 20:28

I've had frown lines on my forehead since I was a kid. I'm now nearly 50 and they are still my only wrinkles. I don't drink, smoke, spend time in the sun or eat an unhealthy diet, plus I'm bit chubby which helps to plump out the wrinkles. I have very olive skin which never burns. I don't wear sunblock, but I do moisturise well.

The day after I had my cataract removed

thedevilinablackdress · 16/09/2019 09:17

I think I've always had the grumpy-face line between my eyes.
Otherwise can't say I ever noticed a 'first line'.

SilverCrushedVelvetX · 16/09/2019 09:24

I'm 28 and have a deep line across my forehead. Honestly can't remember how long I've had it but I've had a very stressful adult life so far so i do think being stressed has caused me to age prematurely 😂 I am considering botox in the near future lol

SistersOfMerci · 16/09/2019 09:37

Mid 50's and don't have many but yes I rejigged my skin skincare routine to include actives and an oil at night. I also use factor 50 on my face now if leaving the house.

Delatron · 16/09/2019 11:48

Hmm I’ve always been a frowner so definitely had fine lines in this area from late 20s.

Botox helps now I’m in my 40s but it’s no magic bullet and now I can’t frown as much i appear to be scrunching my eyes up and creating more wrinkles here. I may need to just stop moving my face!!

Elmo311 · 16/09/2019 11:55

My crows feet started when I was about 25!
I'm very pale/ have freckles and smile a lot.

ShippingNews · 16/09/2019 12:03

I'm 60 and have very few - maybe some crows feet when I smile but otherwise my skin is still pretty smooth. I've never washed my face , just rub it with a hot face cloth at night, and I've always used Nivea cream as a moisturiser.

I was lucky with the gene pool - both parents had good skin. And I've never been a sun worshipper .

sugarbum · 16/09/2019 12:15

I can't say when I first noticed. I have a few fine lines on my forehead. I have no crows feet (unless I crinkle my face up. If I keep it still there's nothing) I'm 45. I am getting more and more skin tags though.

This is ENTIRELY genes. I smoked like a chimney for 15 years. (I stopped because of pregnancy, not wrinkles) I love the sun and I have always drunk too much (not so much now, but particularly in my 20s) I don't drink enough water and I have no skincare regime other than whacking some moisturiser on when I remember to.

I have no doubt that I SHOULD change my ways, but I'm crap at it, and no doubt I'm going to regret it really soon when it all drops at once and I go white-haired overnight.

Greenvalleymama · 16/09/2019 20:10

I'm nearly 40 and have started to notice face creases in the morning, from sleeping on my side. They do lessen throughout the day, but I expect they'll get deeper and more obvious from now on. I'm scared I'll end up with a face like Gordon Ramsey 😭
I use retinol at night and hylauronic acid in the morning, almost always use SPF and avoid the sun at its hottest times. I eat well and have a relatively stress free life.
On the up side, I haven't got crows feet or wrinkles on my forehead yet! The best thing I've found to help wrinkles is to not look too closely 😂

ComeOnGordon · 16/09/2019 20:20

I’ve got terrible lines under my eyes when I smile that have been there since my mid 30’s but I’ve been using a cleansing oil for the last 4 years & that seems to have stopped them getting worse

LoreleiRock · 17/09/2019 06:05

So what is a wrinkle? Because on this thread you have 50 somethings claiming they have none and 20 somethings claiming they have some. I have yet to meet a 50 something with none and a 20 something with some.

Delatron · 17/09/2019 07:19

I was thinking the same Lorelei
What are we defining as a wrinkle? I’m really talking about ‘fine lines’.
I guess a ‘wrinkle’ is a fine line that just gets deeper.

frugalkitty · 17/09/2019 07:47

Mid forties here and I'm just getting a bit crepey under the eyes from having had hayfever my whole life so lots and lots of rubbing itchy eyes. Bugger. Face is wrinkle free but that's down to my mum who is nearly 80 and not wrinkled yet, or grey haired either, she's about 40% grey I reckon. My Dad on the other hand went grey in his 30s/40s so is white now, but still has a full head of thick hair. I definitely think genetics plays a huge part in how well (or not) we age.

My chest on the other hand has proper lines on it from being a side sleeper Confused

JaceLancs · 17/09/2019 07:47

I’m 55 without any yet but am about a stone to a stone and a half over the weight I’d like to be so think that plumps out my face a bit
I don’t have a skin routine or moisturise - but wear factor 50 on face in summer
If I get dry patches in winter use Nivea or E45 cream

frugalkitty · 17/09/2019 07:51

Lorelei I think of wrinkles as what you can see on a resting face, all skin wrinkles a bit with natural movement. But I don't think it's defined by age, there are lots of factors which contribute to how our skin looks like weight loss or gain, genetics, how we sleep, skin care etc.

Xitt · 17/09/2019 07:51

I only have one wrinkle and I’m sitting on it.

lurker101 · 17/09/2019 07:52

I’m 26 and have prominent smile lines. I guess it means I smile a lot Grin

Branleuse · 17/09/2019 08:02

late 30s I think i started noticing slight marionette lines. Im in my earlyish 40s now and I dont think im wrinkly, but I dont look in my twenties either

barkingfly · 17/09/2019 08:14

at 19.

kjhkj · 17/09/2019 08:20

I have a deep line across my forehead which I've had since my early 20s. I am now 46 and have botox and so it isn't there but my practitioner says its because I have very strong forehead muscles.

I agree with pp. I don't know any people in their 50s with no wrinkles at all. I have very few in comparison to my peers but still have them.

AuntieMarys · 17/09/2019 08:24

Can't remember! Was more concerned about the first grey at 41.
I have decent skin for my age (60)

When did you get your first line or wrinkle?
Delatron · 17/09/2019 09:14

Amazing to have no wrinkles at 80?

newmefor2020 · 17/09/2019 11:44

I have a few very mild fine lines at almost 40, but lots of my friends have quite deep ones, especially the ones who are outdoorsy and runners interestingly. They still look gorgeous though as they’re fit, slim and often quite bronzed Grin
