How to obtain tretinoin?

LaVieilleHarpie · 13/09/2019 14:36

I really want to start using it. I have no acne, but the anti-aging effects are supposed to be amazing. How do I obtain tretinoin without a prescription, and how much does such a pleasure cost?

What is it

Rosiemary · 13/09/2019 14:40

You can order it from here. My prescription has just run out so stocked up while on holiday in Spain.

Riverviews · 13/09/2019 14:53

Over the counter in any farmacy in Spain, if you have any trips planned. Just make sure you only apply at night and use high spf

PennyNotSoWise · 13/09/2019 15:29

I have it, but it's a prescription from a cosmetic dermatologist for acne and pigmentation. Cost me £30. £200 for the appointment though

I think a lot of people on here buy it abroad because it's available over the counter there, and seems risky buying it online.

I will say as well, for me, it's not the miracle people make it out to be. I've been using the 0.050% for the best part of a year now and haven't got the glowing skin everyone raves about, and I'm only 26!

humanfemale · 13/09/2019 17:53

@Rosiemary do you know if that pharmacie sell 0.1%? Tried searching the website but didn't get far...!

Rosiemary · 13/09/2019 18:18

Hi, yes, they do here you go

Haworthia · 13/09/2019 18:19

I asked my parents to get me some when they were in Alicante.

ZaraW · 13/09/2019 18:40

I get mine from Boots when I'm in Thailand.

dermatica.co.uk
Is your best bet. They will help you with a prescription.
Excellent customer service.

thenorthernluce · 13/09/2019 21:08

Second the Dermatica recommendation - I’ve been subscribed for about six months now and it’s wonderful.

mommybunny · 13/09/2019 21:17

How much do Dermatica prescriptions cost?

Swiftier · 13/09/2019 21:21

Yup, I was going to say Dermatica too! It’s about £22 a month for Tretinoin, you get one smallish bottle dispatched every month. I end up pausing my prescription every few months as the monthly amount they give me lasts a bit longer than a month.

Probably more expensive than getting it from Spain etc though. But it’s on prescription so personally I feel it’s less risky.

BeeFarseer · 13/09/2019 23:18

Dermatica isn't a guarantee though, I was prescribed Differin instead, which contains a retinoid-like wotsit but isn't the same.

You aren't locked into buying their recommendations though, so it is worth seeing if they think Tretinoin is right for you.

TimeForNewStart · 13/09/2019 23:31

I get it from an online Spanish pharmacy.

withlotsoflove · 14/09/2019 02:32

Bee. Are you suffering with acne?
And maybe you are a bit younger? 🙂

BeeFarseer · 14/09/2019 07:50

I'm mid-thirties with acne prone skin, yes. I know why Differin was recommended for me, just making the point that you can't guarantee you'll get Tretinoin from Dermatica. I do have wrinkles around my eye area which is why I'd love to try Tretinoin.

hotcrossbun4321 · 14/09/2019 13:09

Does anyone know if you can get it OTC in the USA? DH is off there for work soon. I was reading rave reviews about this helping with blocked commedones elsewhere

Fatshedra · 14/09/2019 13:39

You avoid eyes, nostrils with the lotion I get from Dermatica. So, personally, I don't do the lines round my eyes. Have only used it for a few days so can't advise if it works or not.

ZaraW · 14/09/2019 14:22

I use a tiny amount around my eyes with no issues. Hot and Flashy does it, and she's the expert on RetinA.

withlotsoflove · 14/09/2019 18:08

Well bee l imagine they assumed you’d want to treat your acne first?
Did you upload a picture?

withlotsoflove · 14/09/2019 18:10

Tret spreads anyway... so you don’t have to apply it right up to your eye area.

mommybunny · 17/09/2019 16:15

Off the back of this thread I signed up to Dermatica (horrified myself with the photos I had to take and upload!😱😱) and am excitedly waiting for my first purchase to arrive! I think I’ve been prescribed 0.25%? Will it increase as time goes by?

I figured that I spend more than £22 on a tube of La Roche Posay Redermic retinol. That does last a bit longer than a month but I know otc retinols are much weaker than prescription retinoids. Hoping the cost sort of balances itself out on that basis...

Thanks for the recommendations! 🙏

mommybunny · 17/09/2019 16:19

Typo - I think I meant 0.025%! Doh!

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 17/09/2019 18:47

I signed up to Dermatica, and I'm loving the tretinoin my skin is looking great, very glowy, and I think the fine lines are becoming less obvious.

princessTiasmum · 18/09/2019 15:47

I have seen tretinoin on ebay but don't know how good or genuine it is,
Look at reviews,
