Argh! Fine hair : Looking for a good shampoo & conditioner

Can anyone recommend a good shampoo and conditioner?

I have fine, lifeless wispy jaw length layered bob. If I shook my head my hair would not swish about or drop back into place, it would sort of 'stay' where it was swooshed to, defying gravity, if that makes sense. It is weightless fluff at its worst.

I have tried, amongst many others:

Body shop banana
Pantene
Body shop strawberry
Dove
Togo
Fudge
Herbel essences
The roundish bluebottle argan oil appx £7 in supermarkets.
VO5
None make it slightly glossy or swishy, ones like dove and herbal essences make it hang really flat...

I'm fed up of wasting money, can anyone recommend a (not too expensive) type?

@LoveGrowsWhere The OGX bamboo shampoo is on the boots website at the moment

AVEDA pure abundance shampoo
Mint and Rosemary spray leave in conditioners
AVEDA pure abundance prep spray then follow that with the thickening lotion.

It’s pricey. But it works.

Have tried NIOXIN didn’t love it. Biotin supplements are supposedly good but I didn’t notice.

I have similar hair but I've got good results from using Palmers Coconut shampoo or the shea butter shampoo (sulphate free and in the afro hair section at Superdrug). They give my hair oomph and moisturize so I don't use a conditioner as such. Then I spray on some Revlon Unique one (red bottle - don't use much) before drying and it makes it look like I've got more and better hair

I have fine hair too and really like TIGI - they have 3 sorts depending on damage. The bottles are huge too so I like to think it's in some way helping with my plastic consumption.

OGX Bamboo here too. It smells lovely as well. Also like the Lush Montalbano shampoo bar but more as a clarifying shampoo.

I alternate between Aussie mega and Aussie volume.

ThisEnglish thank you!

Agree with @cujo - defo tk maxx high end stuff without the cheap silicone they put in patene etc. Ruins your hair.

QuickThinkOfAName · 24/08/2019 19:14

I feel your pain.

I'm on team nioxin all the way but also - sorry I know you didn't ask for this but my hairdresser and I have the same bloody conversation each time - blunt cuts tend to work better on fine hair not layers.

I hated him for saying this. But have to admit he's right. I lost loads of hair post childbirth and had blunt cuts since then. It definitely helps otherwise my hair goes very wispy.

Sorry. It's slightly off track but had to pass on my hairdressers advice (damn him he's always right about my hair)

I find the best cheap one for my fine wispy bob is tresemme (deep cleansing) comes in big bottles and is cheap. Just use a small amount of conditioner on the very ends

But I find products more important to giving my hair body than actual shampoo - dry shampoo, dry texturising spray (charles worthington at Boots) and hair powder at the roots. Those help hugely

Same hair here and agree with previous poster...get rid of layers! My hair looks a lot fuller now all layers have grown out. I've used redken allsoft shampoo & conditioner for past 2 years and love it. It's the only shampoo in all my 47 years that I still liked after I finished the first bottle...

After washing hair I use either Percy & Reed volumising no oil for fine hair or label m blow-out spray.

wineoclockthanks · 25/08/2019 11:20

Having tried every shampoo for fine hair known to women, I now use Body sHop gInger shampoo and conditioner which are fantastic.

They also give small samples so you don't need to shell out before discovering how great it is!!

NearWildHeaven · 25/08/2019 21:42

Like a PP I have fine hair but just lots of it. I use Charles Worthington and love the scent and the feel. Doesn’t make my hair feel like I’ve rubbed a balloon on it
