Argh! Fine hair : Looking for a good shampoo & conditioner

Can anyone recommend a good shampoo and conditioner?

I have fine, lifeless wispy jaw length layered bob. If I shook my head my hair would not swish about or drop back into place, it would sort of 'stay' where it was swooshed to, defying gravity, if that makes sense. It is weightless fluff at its worst.

I have tried, amongst many others:

Body shop banana
Pantene
Body shop strawberry
Dove
Togo
Fudge
Herbel essences
The roundish bluebottle argan oil appx £7 in supermarkets.
VO5
None make it slightly glossy or swishy, ones like dove and herbal essences make it hang really flat...

I'm fed up of wasting money, can anyone recommend a (not too expensive) type?

I have fine hair and I use Dove 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner. Doesn't weigh it down but leaves it smoother than just shampoo.

I stopped using conditioner which made a massive difference.
Occasionally use roots by lush which is amazing.

HundredMilesAnHour · 22/08/2019 22:08

I use Redken Extreme and the difference is amazing!!!! It's worth the extra money (I get mine from lookfantastic.com when it's often 30% off). The difference in results from salon shampoos compared to high street brands is significant if/when you have 'problem' hair. Try it, you won't regret it!

JoyceDivision · 22/08/2019 22:27

Thankyou! I'm.goi g to try budget option of dove 2 in 1 first, and then if that doesn't help I'll look at splashing out on redken.

Thank you for replies, I don't use straighteners, hairdryer etc everyday so I guess I can manage without conditioning all the time.

I haven't tried it but my colleague recommended simple shampoo

JoyceDivision · 22/08/2019 22:58

Tried simple, seemed really harsh! Quite drying, which was odd.

Also tried tressemme

I was a a big fan of Aussie volume but they seem to have changed it.
Then I was very taken with Ogx roundish bottle green which was with bamboo fibre. Just the shampoo no conditioner. That definitely gave volume & brightened colour but that seems to have disappeared off the shelves everywhere.
So I'm watching with interest.

Topbird29 · 22/08/2019 23:09

I also have fine hair that goes limp really easily. I quite like the elvive fibrology (think it's currently on offer in boots). Only use a tiny bit of the conditioner on the ends as otherwise my roots look greasy really quickly. Never got on with pantene - think the silicon in it just made my hair look greasy!

Topbird29 · 22/08/2019 23:10

I use the blue bottle.

whattodo2019 · 22/08/2019 23:21

I second Redken Extreme - fabulous
I also like the black bottle OGK

RockysMa · 22/08/2019 23:46

I've started using Nioxin. It's pricey but def making mine nice and shiny and I think I can see a bit more body (but that could be wishful thinking). I'll stick with it and see how it goes, but watching with interest in case it goes tits up

PandaDec2018 · 22/08/2019 23:53

I have very fine hair and I love Aussie Miracle Moist

earlgreymarl · 22/08/2019 23:55

Kerastase the one in the pink bottle. It is expensive but lasts ages , conditioner lasts ageb too

FeeFee832 · 23/08/2019 00:09

Nioxin - £19.99 a bottle from TK MAXX, lasts 6 months and is a game changer!!!!!!!

Thin hair to thick hair in a month!!!

RockysMa · 23/08/2019 00:18

Oh that's good to hear @FeeFee832 Hope it's the same for me Smile

SuzeD29 · 23/08/2019 08:36

I've just started with nioxin too, pleased with it so far

TheresWaldo · 23/08/2019 08:43

I use Head and Shoulders 2 in 1 and it makes my hair soft and bouncy. I discovered this by accident (I don't have dandruff) when I bought a bottle on holiday.

SoftBlocks · 23/08/2019 08:47

Jason’s Lavender shampoo and conditioner.
Roots from Superdrug.

FenellaMaxwell · 23/08/2019 08:48

Lush bars - I can’t remember its name but it’s yellow and smells of lemons, and the ‘Big’ conditioner bar, only on the ends.

Cheesymonster · 23/08/2019 12:40

My hairdresser recommended Nioxin but I haven't tried it yet. Will look out for it.

I have been using head and shoulders (the citrus one is nice) or Aussie mega. Have ditched conditioner and rarely blow dry it.

cujo · 23/08/2019 13:02

Fine hair is best if you avoid silicones, parabens, sls type products. So look on ingredient lists.

I frequently go back the the green people daily aloe stuff but I very often just see what they have in tkmaxx - the higher end ranges are more often than not silicone and sls free.

AnyFucker · 23/08/2019 13:06

I like Aldi anti frizz shamppo and conditioner in the purple tubes

I am trying to grow my hair out after years of keeping it very short because of my crap, kinky, candy flossy hair

It's pretty good and not many £££

Thesuzle · 23/08/2019 13:11

Just bought the frizz ease stuff weightless, will be trying it soon
Have fine hair in its thickness but actually loads of actual hair.
Sometimes think shampoos mean fine as not much actual hair on your head !

NotquitewhatImeant · 23/08/2019 19:44

My hair people! Dove pro-age is nice when I can find it (ignore the age bit) and when it’s on offer I like Kiehl’s amino acid shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo doesn’t foam as much so it takes a bit of getting used to but my hair definitely is more manageable, less floppy and shinier with it

thisenglishlife · 24/08/2019 13:44

Charles Worthington Everything Gentle weightless

Ogx Thick and Full or Bamboo (both on Boots at the moment)
Redken High Rise
Soap and Glory Pink Big
Trevor Sorbie Thicker and Fuller

Grow Gorgeous (half price on Lookfantastic at the moment) and Swell are supposed to be good too.
