Do any of you wear brogues to work?

Do they look good?

I see them on models and think they look so comfy and stylish but feel I will look like a tit.

If you wear them are you super skinny and tall and 20?

Or are any of you slightly 'curvier' in your 30/40s?

I really want to wear them to work with a suit, dress etc but I need to know others are successfully wearing them that don't just look like Kate Moss!!

So I have ordered some suede ones that I found yesterday and I'm now thinking of getting some burgundy ones. I think burgundy goes well with black, but I also want tan ones to go with navy.

Definitely need comfort when I'm at work I do 10,000 steps easily. I have never needed heels to get where I am in my job (despite some of the men thinking it will look prettier) and I'm quite senior so I also want to show the younger women you don't need tight dresses and heels to get promoted if you don't want to. I go against the mould as all the senior women I work with all manage sky high heels every day (no idea how!)

The men who think high heels look prettier are free to wear them.

Hope you like your new brogues.

I wear them all the time and have several gorgeous pairs (Sam Edelman are my fave!) but I haven't managed to make the transition to wearing them with skirts/dresses yet!

I have black patent Hamble Oaks, Tan and my favourites are these silver ones. Looking for navy for the autumn. Wear with all sorts of trousers, skirts and dresses. Can no longer bear painful shoes. Mid 40s quite senior role. I think high heels look dated ( depends on style obviously but they are not nearly as frequently worn now as say 5 years ago in my profession).

They are lovely in the silver. Good for when it’s technically summer so you don’t want to wear black all the time but you can’t wear sandals because it’s wet and cold !

I have a burgundy patent chunky pair of brogues that I love - perfect for office wear. I am going to get a black pair to wear for clinical work as I really like them.

The more women in senior roles wear them, the more acceptable they’ll be. Which is bloody good news. Having said that, I worked with a woman at director level who wore nothing else over 20 years ago. Obviously well ahead of her time.

I have several pairs, black, oxblood and pale pink - all from Next. They take a while to break in but are wonderfully comfortable when they've softened up. I'm late 40's, 5'5 and a size 12/14. They're brilliant for autumn/winter and for days like today where it was 12 degrees and raining when I left for work.

I wear them all the time with everything, and I'm short, fat, and old! I have foot problems so trainers, brogues or loafers are pretty much all I can tolerate, but even if that wasn't the case, I would still wear them. Why wouldn't you want to be comfortable??

I wear them with ankle length trousers but also full ones, as long as the hem covers the top of the shoe I think it can look smart. Also with skirts and dresses of any length. I don't go bare legged anyway because my legs aren't good enough, so it's always tights of some kind for me.

The only thing I wouldn't wear flat shoes with is pencil skirts, but I don't wear those anyway!
