Olay Beauty Fluid- Is it really THAT good?

I have been on the hunt for a moisturiser/skin care product that is "the one"

One that keeps cropping up is the Olay/Oil of Olay/Oil of Ulay Beauty Fluid, the one that everyone's mum and grandma used to have in the little white bottle

Question- it is really that good? Will it actually change my life like people that have been using in for 40+ years claim? Or is there an alternative that is better?

Thanks in advance!!

I used to love the Olay 7 Signs of Ageing creams but I started getting concerned about the chemicals in them and whether or not they were cruelty free. I stopped using them but they were good.

This brings back memories.
My mum used Olay, she also used nivea. Mum had beautiful skin.
Sorry I'm not much help.

kjhkj · 08/08/2019 11:34

it is just a basic moisturiser. It is not going to change your life in any way.

TSSDNCOP · 08/08/2019 11:48

That’s not true kjhkj I wore Olay B&B tinted moisturiser to an interview last week and got the job.

Coincidence? I don’t think so!

eddiemairswife · 08/08/2019 12:03

It's a reasonably priced non-greasy moisturiser. I've used it for years.

Ragwort · 08/08/2019 12:05

I’m over 60 & have (mostly) used Nivea or Olay all my life and have very good skin .... very occasionally I allow myself to be conned into buying Clarins or similar but always go back to Nivea.

kjhkj · 08/08/2019 15:10

Wow TSS. I take that back then OP. It actually will change your life.

thedevilinablackdress · 08/08/2019 15:41

When my Mum and Gran had it, it was in a pink bottle.
Too strongly scented for me IIRC.

NoSquirrels · 08/08/2019 15:48

^^This. It’s not scented either. I slap it on and forget about it. My skin is fine, but I’m crap at having a consistent routine.

I shouldn’t think it will change your life or could be described as ‘the one’ but if you’re a bit lazy like me, hate making new decisions and need to be able to buy it easily when you run out, it does the job!

kjhkj · 08/08/2019 16:26

Yes I remember my mum having a glass bottle of "Oil of Ulay"

Ragwort · 08/08/2019 16:39

I can remember the glass bottles 😁

motherofgod2 · 08/08/2019 16:42

I used to use it. It's lovely and smells great but as I've got older my skin is drier now and it's not moisturizing enough. Shame as I really liked it.

bingowingsmcgee · 08/08/2019 20:57

It reminds me a lot of Johnsons baby lotion

DeniseRoyal · 08/08/2019 21:13

Not so sure about Olay, but my skin has never been better since I started using Nivea Soft. Big tub for a fiver, and I use it all over. Sorted 👌

TSSDNCOP · 08/08/2019 21:17

I LOVE the smell of Johnson’s Baby Lotion.

Tiny bit of the oil on freshly shaved legs too.

The oldies are the goodies.

TSSDNCOP · 08/08/2019 21:18

Isn’t Dame Joan a massive Nivea fan? Love it on hands and feet, but too thick for face IMO.

Olajs · 08/08/2019 22:55

I used to use the original pink one in my teens and 20s and I absolutely loved it. It smelled so nice too. I’m 40s now and it’s not thick enough for me these days but I sometimes use the Olay 7 signs of ageing range and that’s pretty good.

Bezalelle · 08/08/2019 22:58

I used to swan about with my Nana's glass bottle, exclaiming "Oil of Ulay, donkey cream of the west!" No idea why...

Deathraystare · 09/08/2019 12:49

You mean the highly scented one in a pink bottle?

I don't think it would help very dry or ageing skin.

I was amused where I once worked, went to dinner at a guy's house and he had a bottle in his bathroom. He lived alone. Ok it might have been left there but hmmm.

I like the 7 effects ones but not the pink one!

thedevilinablackdress · 09/08/2019 13:37

Why is it amusing that a man would use moisturiser?
Unless this happened in the 1970s??

Skyejuly · 09/08/2019 15:26

Ulay! I remember my mum had this.

MrsBeckyS · 04/02/2021 09:34

I have had eczema most of my life from very young until mid twenties. I tried all sorts to fix it. I finally tried Olay in my twenties. I now refuse to use anything else it totally cleared up my skin which even prescription creams couldn’t do.

cardoon · 04/02/2021 11:34

YY, it's no good if you have dry skin and in made my face sting like buggery!

WagnerTheWehrWolf · 04/02/2021 11:40

No moisturiser is The One. Moisturiser is just the lovely gloop that seals everything in and makes your face feel nice and soft. Products that make a difference to your skin are retinols, vitamin c, azelaic acid if you suffer from rosacea. And a decent cleanser.

WagnerTheWehrWolf · 04/02/2021 11:41

Just realised this is an old thread...
