Please help me choose an office friendly perfume out of this list

Out of these perfumes which one would you choose for the office? (If any!)

Elie saab le Parfum
Chloe le Parfum
Chanel au tendre

These are the ones I have that I think aren't too overpowering? Hoping not to have to purchase new as much as I love a new perfume!

Thanks x

The best option is none. Sorry.

BogglesGoggles · 30/07/2019 17:50

Channel tends to be fine in enclosed spaces. Just don’t spray throughout the day Envy

HappyHammy · 30/07/2019 17:51

They would be my.going out perfumes.

Care to expand @thedevilinablackdress ?
Appreciate your opinion would just like to understand your viewpoint. Are they vile or overpowering or just not trendy? Haven't been in an office environment in a while so it would help

I vote Chloe Smile

PurpleDaisies · 30/07/2019 17:54

I agree with none. The best professional smell is clean.

Cosentyx · 30/07/2019 17:55

Chanel.

onplan · 30/07/2019 17:55

So too strong @HappyHammy ? I tend to wear much stronger smelling perfumes for going out on the rare occasions I go out so these seem milder but maybe I'm just out of touch!

That Elie Saab one gives me a terrible headache...I was given a bottle of it and after trying to wear it twice I gave up! It's the only one that's ever done that to me.

The Chloe one is one of my favourites, I think it's much lighter than the ES one.

Can't comment on the Chanel.

For work I tend to go with a very light citrusy / orange as it's less likely to offend anyone!

onplan · 30/07/2019 18:09

Thanks @Floopily that's really helpful. I've ruled out elie Saab on that basis

Other people’s perfume or aftershave gives me a nauseous headache in an enclosed space.
If you must wear it, a very light citrus smell is probably best.

ChihuahuaMummy1 · 30/07/2019 18:12

Gucci premiere

Richlyfruited · 30/07/2019 18:12

I personally wouldn't waste them on the office!

What about the new M&S Collection range - cheap and inoffensive, light scents? I particularly like the Mimosa & Bergamot one www.marksandspencer.com/l/beauty/womens-perfume?facets=4294958238&slider_Current_Min=0&slider_Current_Max=90&sortBy=product.is_new|1

So interesting. I have always known colleagues to wear perfume without complaint. I must admit I only ever noticed someone's perfume if they heavily reapply at lunchtime (which I'm not a fan of and don't have the energy or inclination) This thread has made me think there are lots of office dwellers suffering in silence!

Perfumes give me migraines. I wish they were banned.

onplan · 30/07/2019 18:36

@PurpleDaisies you read my thread title and decided to come on in anyway? I sympathise with your condition but it's like someone asking for help choosing between chicken or fish and me piping up that I'm vegetarian.

PurpleDaisies · 30/07/2019 18:39

I am on this thread to tell you there are no office friendly perfumes. It’s not rocket science to understand why people like me (and fair few other posters too) would post on this sort of thread. I assumed you didn’t know rather than were just inconsiderate.

PurpleDaisies · 30/07/2019 18:40

This thread has made me think there are lots of office dwellers suffering in silence!

Look. You’ve even admitted yourself that you didn’t know perfumes often made others suffer.

notacooldad · 30/07/2019 18:41

A while ago the women in our team made a collective decision not to wear perfume in our office. There was a group sigh of thank god for that from everyone!
The perfumes on your list are all nice but I guess it depends on your office enviroment which one is the most suitable!

brassbrass · 30/07/2019 18:42

Someone applied amarige during a break in a meeting the other day and it was quite gentle which is surprising so I asked what it was. Strong perfumes on the tube for example really set me off but this was quite pleasant. I keep meaning to check it out for myself.

Lucked · 30/07/2019 18:43

I wear Ellie Saab to work in summer, I like it for summer as it has a citrus sharpness to it but it is not sweet. I apply at home and it has great longevity. I don’t think it projects overtly far however I have my own office so other people are not a problem.

For me it is very much a work perfume and it’s not something I reach for at other times but that may just be an association I have made to the smell.

Songes · 30/07/2019 18:43

Chance Eau Tendre and Chloe EDP are both quite light.

I think the trick with wearing perfume to the office is not to over do it.

showmethegin · 30/07/2019 18:45

Zara do some really lovely perfumes. They are cheap as chips and just very fresh smelling and not overpowering at all. That's what I use

Sagradafamiliar · 30/07/2019 18:47

Who knew wearing perfume was so controversial 😂 anyone would think you were lighting up one of 50 a day and spending the remainder of your time spraying weed killer liberally about the office.

I'd go for the Chloe. It's a great everyday scent and about as inoffensive as they come.

onplan · 30/07/2019 18:49

@PurpleDaisies I think calling me inconsiderate is quite unfair since I am actually asking the question? I recognise my taste in perfume is strong. I wouldn't rock up to the office in Tom Ford black orchid for example so I was seeing out of the perfumes I have which would be the most suitable but I suppose that doesn't suit your narrative.

To everyone who has offered your opinion as well as alternatives, thank-you! That was the kind of helpful post I was hoping to get on the style and beauty board
