Lets talk SHOES - for travelling in...

Normally I'm a killer heel girl but I recognise that killer heels with a 5YO, suitcases, escalators etc are completely impractical.. so I don't want to to take trainers as will not wear them once on holiday.

I'm thinking maybe investing in a pair of white ballerina pumps.. what do you reckon?

I don't want to take jeans as will be too hot so if I travelled in white cropped combats a vest and pumps would I look chavvy? I have some lovely cool linen trousers which I will pack but thought they would look hideous if I travelled in them..

What are your favourite shoes to travel in? Flip flops would be great but too difficult to struggle round the airport in I'm thinking

he just continued to be an arse and I just came to my senses I think... the final straw was when I asked him to help me decorate dd's room and he was too busy.

I travel in flip flops in fact I barely took them off this holiday except in the evenings when I wore a pair of wedgies. In fact I never wore the rest of the shoes or sandals I took with me.

Rocket dog flip flops have wonderful foamy soles that are like walking on air! Fab!

I may consider flip flops then.. I do have a nice pair but I do seem to find anything but bog standard walking difficult in them. Feel a bit nervous about lugging dd and suitcase and hand luggage etc around whilst trying not to lose my shoes.

Does sound like the easy option for going through security checks though.. I had forgotten about having to take your shoes off!

not everyone takes their shoes off at the security - random!

Beetroot · 01/08/2007 10:51

these?

bozza · 01/08/2007 10:52

How old is DD, mascara?

CountessDracula · 01/08/2007 10:52

birkies
or converse lo-rise

MrsBadger · 01/08/2007 10:54

(NB If travelling in vest to Egypt take a cardi or a pashmina or something in hand luggage.
Nothing like the security guards looking at you like you are a Loose Woman to make you uncomfortable.)

MascaraOHara · 01/08/2007 10:58

she's just turned 5.

Thanks for the tip Mrs Badger, hadn't thought of that - will add a light weight cardy to list of things to buy.

Flip-flops with foamy soles don't slip from your foot in the way that hard soled ones do though.

2-strap birkies (closed shoes might not go on after a longish flight)

bozza · 01/08/2007 13:03

she should be able to manage her own hand luggage then. I am expecting my 6 adn 3yos to carry their own. I have bought DD a new backpack for the purpose. She honestly thought that was going to be her entire luggage for the fortnight. I think you are worrying too much, you will be fine, honestly. I hope you have a good time.
