Lets talk SHOES - for travelling in...

Normally I'm a killer heel girl but I recognise that killer heels with a 5YO, suitcases, escalators etc are completely impractical.. so I don't want to to take trainers as will not wear them once on holiday.

I'm thinking maybe investing in a pair of white ballerina pumps.. what do you reckon?

I don't want to take jeans as will be too hot so if I travelled in white cropped combats a vest and pumps would I look chavvy? I have some lovely cool linen trousers which I will pack but thought they would look hideous if I travelled in them..

What are your favourite shoes to travel in? Flip flops would be great but too difficult to struggle round the airport in I'm thinking

I suggested wedges to her, they don't have to be that high!

just thought that we would be better for her if she wasn't used to flat pump shoes..

Is that ok with you!

MascaraOHara · 01/08/2007 09:28

If I wore high wedges, I could take them as my evening shoes was my thinking and then not really bother taking another pair of heels? clueless

Nothing that will get tight when your feet swell. I am fine in flip flops. Don't like white trousers full stop. Cropped trousers are good though - have you got some in another colour?

Beetroot · 01/08/2007 09:29

we going to Normandy on 22nd - hope it is bloody sunny

MascaraOHara · 01/08/2007 09:29

lol @ thigh high boots... won't they chaff on a long car journey? I assume you will be teaming them with hotpants

I always travel in flip flops, never had a problem walking around airports etc. Plus they are easy for slipping off when you go through the security checks etc, as the past two flights I have been on I have had to take my shoes off

MascaraOHara · 01/08/2007 09:32

I think I am the only person in the worl who struggles to walk in flip flops.. I just can't seem to keep them on my big ol' hairy feet without curling my toes under.

I think a pair of flip flops (that can be kicked off during the five hour flight) are a lot more practical than those high wedges.

I am not sure what I am travelling in, it depends on my packing - space and weight. If it is going badly I will wear my wedge sandals as they are quite heavy, otherwise I will stick to a pair of flipflops. I am wearing a pair of trousers that can be rolled up to 3/4. Will start with them down because of a/c on plane and then roll when we arrive.

Quick hijack question - how many pairs of shoes do you take on hols? Is two pairs of wedges and three pairs of leather flipflops (one footbed) including the ones for travelling OK? Would realy like to take more....

Ah you see mascara I live in flipflops in the summer.

That post about having to take your shoes off has put me off wearing my wedges. I would have to bend over and mess with the teeny narrow ankle strap.

MascaraOHara · 01/08/2007 09:36

very much so cod. feel nothing apart from relief.

I always take too many pairs so was going to try and cut down this year, esp. as won't be doing to much in evenings
