Holiday eyelashes - advice please!

VenusTiger · 28/07/2019 00:19

I’m 38 have never had eyelashes extended or permed etc. but think I’d like it for holiday this summer. I’m blonde and my eyelashes and brows are basically invisible when they’re make-up free.

I really don’t like the big eye brow look nor do I want annoying long lashes particularly, especially if they start to come away and I’m left with bits here and there.

Any advice please for a first timer, what should I have and how much “should” it cost?

I had my eyelashes dyed many years ago and think it went wrong as one of my eyes stung and was red for days after..... please tell me this is a one off!

I had a lash lift recently and the effect was great

Hotterthanahotthing · 28/07/2019 00:27

I used to dye my eyelashes for holidays and then just use clear mascara, not running in heat or water and a clean pillow if you are unable to remove it at night.
I never had a problem but if you have get a skin test first.

VenusTiger · 28/07/2019 00:58

Thanks both!
@clpsmum I bought a lift kit but I’m too scared to use it 🙈 did you get yours done prof or diy?

@VenusTiger got it done professionally don't think I'm brave enough to do it myself. It was £26 for an eyelash lift and tint and well worth the money

MoreSlidingDoors · 28/07/2019 09:07

Christ. Don’t attempt a lash lift on your myself. You don’t want to be getting perm solution in your eye!

The lady who does mine does several a day, has been doing them for years and still gets someone else to do hers!

NigellasGuest · 28/07/2019 09:23

LVL lashes. Costs around £50 and well worth it! Make sure you go to a good person though and get it done a week before you go on holiday.

pontiouspilates · 28/07/2019 09:33

I had Lash Bomb almost 4 weeks ago and my lashes still look great. It cost £38 and should last for 6 weeks. I haven't bothered with mascara at all since I've had them done. I'll definitely do it again next time I go away.

Howdoyousleep · 28/07/2019 09:36

I have had my eyelashes tinted a few times and done it myself with a kit at time and the effect is rubbish. Maybe good for long thick eyelashes but a waste of money for me.

I get eyelash flares for a special occasion but they do ping off so would not be good for a holiday swimming etc.

I pay £30 every 4 weeks.

NigellasGuest · 28/07/2019 10:46

Well I'm in London so pricier

VenusTiger · 28/07/2019 11:21

Thanks everyone! LVL it is! Will make sure to have eye test first though.

@MoreSlidingDoors, fair enough, I won’t do it myself! Thanks for the tip.

My sister lives in SW6 and doesn’t pay more than £35.

Hey!
I'm a lash tech, lash lifts are brilliant for enhancing your own lashes you can't get them wet for 24 hours but after you can do almost anything to them wear mascara etc.

Classic lashes - one on one lash extension still very natural.
Russian volume between 2-8 lashes per natural lash depending on your lash strength.
In the salon we charge £30 for lash lift classic £50 Russian £50.
Also make sure you have a patch test for any service ♥️♥️♥️xxxxx

Banana1984 · 29/07/2019 00:14

@Cloestacey93 where are you based?

Cruiz · 29/07/2019 03:18

Hi,
I do Eyelash Extensions and there great for holidays, no need for mascara etc.
If your looking for a natural look , ask for Classic style extensions, not Russian or Hybrid,
Just explain to therapist what your looking for , as they can choose a lash extension suitable , and not long.
I can send you a picture of different styles of looks you can, so you have a idea what you’d like.
When you had your eyelashes tinted before, I think they had done your treatment wrong, as that should not happen. Can you remember if they got the tint etc in your
eye. If you go for this again, make
Sure they take a patch test 24hr before treatment. Xxx

Cruiz · 29/07/2019 03:18

And it should roughly cost around £30, for Classic Lashes, depending where you stay.

I pay £30 every 4 weeks.

Just been pricing it where I live (Scotland) and it varies from 48 to 55!

TooOldForThisWhoCares · 29/07/2019 07:35

I paid £48 for LVL in Leeds. The effect is good but it's the first time I've had it so don't knoe how long it will last or how it will do in a holiday situation with a lot of chlorine, humidity etc. I'm hoping it at least lasts the 2 weeks! (It will be the 4th week since it was done at the end of the holiday) however I think I'm a convert to lash lifting! It looks great, the lashes are so "separated" although I do still put some mascara on to increase the volume of them. The price is a bit off putting though and I might just go for a cheaper lash lift on its own next time and just use mascara. Also the fact you can't use oil on them is annoying because I remove my eye make up with jojoba oil which is kind and moisturizing to the whole area around my eyes.

NigellasGuest · 29/07/2019 09:02

I used my normal eye make up remover after LVL - a combination of Emma Hardie balm, Shu Uemura and Take The Day Off for eyes (not all at once)! Just whatever was to hand. Anyway, i haven't checked but i don't believe that none of those contain oil? How can eye makeup remover not contain some kind of oil? Or perhaps I'm missing something.

TooOldForThisWhoCares · 29/07/2019 09:04

I'm not sure Nigella, but I've used jojoba for years so haven't looked at the ingredients of normal eye make up removers. I was advised to use micellar water. I would rather use my oil but it's something to do with oil breaking down the bonds within the perm lotion.

NigellasGuest · 29/07/2019 09:05

Oh and TooOldForThis I've just come back from a holiday where I was in and out of the pool and jacuzzi every day, and also indulged in a hammam with lots of steam, and my lashes are still good!

NigellasGuest · 29/07/2019 09:07

I should look at the ingredients on my cleansers.... the Shu Uemera is definitely a runny face oil though....

TooOldForThisWhoCares · 29/07/2019 09:07

Ha I've just googled, micellar water does contain oil (micelles are balls of oil?!) But I'm assuming that's better than the pure unadulterated oil I normally use?
