Anyone else seen this in the media today? Can't do links but the few pieces I saw looked really good.

OP posts:
RottnestFerry · 25/07/2019 19:48

Age or dress size?

31RueCambon · 25/07/2019 19:50

Id have a look. I liked their stuff when i was young. Bit too fashionable for me now, but if they had amore classic range im guessing it would have a gentle nod to the trends.

nitgel · 25/07/2019 19:52

Will probably be a sea of polyester like most high street shops

31RueCambon · 25/07/2019 19:55

Well that isnot what 40+ women want. Id be surprised.
I predict a cheaper jigsaw.

Anois · 25/07/2019 20:53

If they use natural fabrics and are well made they should do well. I haven't even looked at RI in the last 15 years.

Hairydilemma · 25/07/2019 20:55

I’m 46 and buy the stuff they have in there already. Not sure what that says about me (or them!)

Echobelly · 25/07/2019 20:56

Does that really need to be a thing'in this day and age?

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 25/07/2019 20:57

Looks like Per Una to me

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 25/07/2019 20:59

That red and black carpet monstrosity is just horrid

DearLady · 25/07/2019 20:59

They’re looking to get the get the Dorothy Perkins / Wallis market, with Arcadia being in trouble...
Not the sort of stuff I’d buy. But, may be of interest to anyone who shops in Next / Debenhams.

MitziK · 25/07/2019 21:01

Looks like Primark clearance rails to me.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 25/07/2019 21:04

Harpenne is a terrible name!

BugEyedBeans · 25/07/2019 21:19

The Harpies were the flying witches of the ancient greeks...

TSSDNCOP · 25/07/2019 21:23

I’m 50 and buy in there regularly already. As an adult I can decide what suits me without corporate guidance.

missyB1 · 25/07/2019 21:26

Some nice coats in that collection. The dresses and tops unfortunately suffer from the usual mistake of being far too loud and fussy.

TSSDNCOP · 25/07/2019 21:26

I got to 12 and got bored. Do over 40 year old women only have a penchant for sensible dog walking coats?

tierraJ · 25/07/2019 21:32

I'm 42 & shop in River Island but wouldn't choose to shop somewhere aimed at '40+' as I feel younger!! Or something.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 25/07/2019 21:35

It doesn't look any different to what is already on the market. Will be interested to see the materials and the cut because the main problem for me is the lack of generosity wrt fabric and sizing - lots of clothes are too short, not roomy enough across the bust.

Shenanagins · 25/07/2019 21:39

I can see what they are trying to achieve especially if they have been paying attention to these very pages.

However it all depends on whether they determine whether these over 40’s don’t really give a toss about style and stray into per una territory recognising that some pieces from their main collection captures all ages.

Craftycorvid · 25/07/2019 21:40

Bit ‘meh’ for me. Also looks like the fabrics would be really itchy!

StCharlotte · 25/07/2019 21:45

Or Mango?

Cinammoncake · 25/07/2019 21:53

That article is bizarre - rediscovering themselves baby boomers Confused

Seems odd to create a range for a specific age group like that anyway

Wavyheaded · 25/07/2019 21:53

Looks like the same stuff as everywhere.

Anois · 25/07/2019 22:02

I won't be forming an orderly queue to buy any of that ...

31RueCambon · 25/07/2019 22:25

I liked a few things in that line up.

I'll give the site a chance! I've signed up so hopefully I'll get a code.

I don't feel ignored on the high street but a grown up version of a few of the shops I used to go to regularly but now never do would be good. More options.

River Island as it is is just a bit too young for me now, although I dress younger than many of the women in my office who are 20 years younger. But I don't see them at the weekends to be fair to them.

I know the line not to cross though.

Oasis, I quite like their tops but they're always made out of that dreadful material that feels cold to the touch.
