I got Botox today for the first time

So I've been thinking about it for a while and today I finally did it! I don't feel any different yet, I hope I notice something tomorrow. How do others feel about themselves after a treatment and how long before you noticed a difference? I was told the result will be subtle and the aim is to look natural so fingers crossed!

How often do you need to get it?
How mich does it cost?

Delatron · 05/07/2019 13:44

It varies according to where you are in the country. I’m in SE and have two areas done but half a dose and it’s about £200. It can last 6 months or more but because I go for a smaller dose it tends to wear off after about 3-4 months. I always let it wear off fully to keep perspective and in an attempt not to overdo it!!

I’m also aware that it can look great the first few times then not so good. You have to be careful in your 40s as if you have a bit of sag going on too, then the face becomes out of balance and that is when it’s noticeable.

So I’m doing microcurrent (Nuface) and lasers for the rest of the face. Botox is just a small part of the ‘tweakments’.

Hauskat · 05/07/2019 14:03

I want to get my eyebrows microbladed but can’t afford it just yet. Really need to get some Botox between my eyebrows ASAP as I have ever deepening vertical lines there. I’ve finally stopped breast feeding and could do the Botox now but am worried that if I have my eyebrows done afterwards they might look wrong when it wears off. Am I over thinking?

GlamGiraffe · 05/07/2019 14:17

@SolitudeAtAltitude
Do they all have it done at the same place?
It shouldn't make it shiny. That's odd. I only had it in my forehead once and haven't needed it since. No shine.
I'm going to try to post amendments to see if it shows. Not good at this.wish me luck.no good at pics😂

GlamGiraffe · 05/07/2019 14:29

@SolitudeAtAltitude
They're different angles and lighting so Not ideal. My artistry is rubbish. One has it one doesn't....

What lasers are you having @Delatron ?

PoorAnnie · 05/07/2019 19:56

I'm in my 50s and have had Botox for about 10 years. It's very subtle, so I still have wrinkles, just not as many, which is the look I aim for. In my experience the practitioner makes a huge difference. Mine is a nurse who once worked in Harley St.
It takes about 10 days for mine to really take effect and I don't lose my wrinkles (these days..) but just look a bit less tired. It used to last 6 months but I now find it's only about 4 months. I'm getting old!

SolitudeAtAltitude · 05/07/2019 20:12

Glamgiraffe, I can't tell from pics Grin

Pics are static

It's all about how someone's face (doesn't) move, if that makes sense, when they are talking/thinking/smiling

I have never asked if they all have itdone at the same place as I always pretend I don't notice

Delatron · 05/07/2019 22:15

@Slaymill I have something called 3forMe laser treatment which is IPL to target redness and another laser which breaks down pigmentation. Also stimulates collagen. Lasers are amazing.

Lizzielocket · 05/07/2019 22:43

I’ve been having Botox every 5 months for a couple of years, I’m 43. I have it lightly in my forehead so I don’t have that frozen look but more put in my no 11’s as they are the lines that make you look tired, the last couple of times I’ve had some in my bunny lines.
I’ve had filler twice and it lasts just over a year. In my opinion if you are going to have Botox it’s best to have a little deep filler in your cheeks too, sunken cheeks are as ageing as lines.
I pay £300 for 3 areas of Botox and have a syringe of filler in the apple of each cheek and along my cheekbones, it’s £350 for the first syringe and £250 for subsequent syringes. My GP administers it privately, I would never go to a salon or a nurse who has a set up from home.

houseofrabbits · 06/07/2019 07:35

I'm in my late twenties and have been considering Botox for a few years. My eyebrows feel 'droopy' and it makes me feel really tired. I'm not sure if Botox is the answer for drooping eyebrows? I also have some vertical and horizontal lines I would like to lessen. Can anyone recommend a clinic in Buckinghamshire?

LucheroTena · 06/07/2019 07:57

I think people who have it tend to start looking like the vampires in Buffy. The forehead starts to swell.

People like Kylie have so much money and I guess they go to the best surgeons rather than a beautician, as suggested on here. But you can spot it with them too! I think wrinkles look better. Or put a bit of weight on, you don’t see 40/50 year olds with wrinkles if they’re not thin.

Delatron · 06/07/2019 08:07

I think Kylie has been having botox for so many years, that is the problem. She had that ‘botox’ look about 10 years ago.

Less is more with botox.

Slaymill · 06/07/2019 13:48

Thank you @Delatron could you PM me where you get the laser (3forme) treatment. I've looked online and they seem few and far between i.e one in Scotland one in London.

JDSTER · 06/07/2019 14:04

I’m wondering same as houseofrabbits if anyone has had Botox to lift their eyebrows and reduce the sagging around the upper eye area. I’m in my mid 40s and this has only become noticeable in the past year or so. I don’t have genetically heavy eyelids this is definitely an ageing thing.

Sonicknuckles · 06/07/2019 14:09

Isn't it just injecting poison into your face?

YesQueen · 06/07/2019 15:13

@Sonicknuckles technically yes. But I inject myself with other drugs that increase my risk of leukaemia and swallow others so I'm happy with doing it

MaryBoBary · 10/07/2019 20:01

How are you doing OP? Will you be posting a 1 week progress pic tomorrow?!
