I got Botox today for the first time

So I've been thinking about it for a while and today I finally did it! I don't feel any different yet, I hope I notice something tomorrow. How do others feel about themselves after a treatment and how long before you noticed a difference? I was told the result will be subtle and the aim is to look natural so fingers crossed!

@trackingmedown I agree My Doc said less is more these days and the aim is still to have some movement.
@MaryBoBary good idea! My Doc took photos but I'm will as well.

There’s a nurse who does it at my waxing salon. I’m tempted

Jencottage · 04/07/2019 22:53

Takes about a week and I love it but need to abstain as breastfeeding right now. However one of my friends got it with me and it did but work on her !

Jencottage · 04/07/2019 22:57

Did not work on her - absolutely no effect, understandably she was super miffed ! I'd also only go to a proper doctor at a beauty clinic, Botox injected wrongly can really mess up your face !

GlamGiraffe · 04/07/2019 22:59

Mine has always worked by the 2nd day. It also lasts ages.

@DragonMamma
I have always had it done by a (different ones) doctor specialising in cosmetic medicine. I personally know so many people who have it done and the ones who more often have the better results from fillers and Botox get it from these people. It's a simple enough processes medically but not everyone has the eye artistically speaking to make you look your freshest or best.
In terms of Botox "baby botox " or "soft botox" is definitely the most natural looking thing. It's not that frozen look. It just relaxed the muscles enough and the doctors that do it are very wary of freezing to much. They'd rather give a bit, see how it works and then top you up a bit than risk giving you the frozen look or flat iron forehead with the heavy brows.thats the sign of a really bad job and it is still happening to people.

People never know I've had it done they just start saying how well i look. Mine lasts a good 9-12months is say. I'm lucky.

Op I think after 3 to give days you should be able to see what you'll look like. If it's not enough ask to go back for a top up or adjustmentafter a week or 10 days.

Pinkarsedfly · 04/07/2019 23:04

It’s the absolute tits.

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 04/07/2019 23:07

Cost wise it can vary wildly
I pay £140 for 1 area or £190 for 2 areas.

I go to a dentist and she is very, very good. Honestly the money I've paid for creams in the past. What a waste. Now it's botox and aldi lacura with spf Grin

butterboo · 04/07/2019 23:31

@GlamGiraffe I have an appointment to my Doctor in 2 weeks, she said it's better to too up and tweak rather than start with too much.
I chose her as she's been doing it for 15 years and is also a trainer. I got a personal recommendation from a friend who been seeing her for years and I had no idea until she told me she had Botox. We also talked about the nasolabial folds, she said they are treated with specific fillers. She would prefer to wait to do those on me. I think a good Cosmetic Doctor will give you the minimum you need in the right places to achieve a good result rather than try and charge you for more units.

Tolleshunt · 04/07/2019 23:38

Ooh, i’m very tempted!

How do you find a good dr to do it? Nobody I know has it done - allegedly - so I can’t get a recommendation. I want somebody really good.

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 04/07/2019 23:45

I would Google places in your area.
I went for a consult at skin clinic and didn't like them at all and they're also very expensive.

I'm in the west Midlands if anyone wants a recommendation from around here.

GlamGiraffe · 04/07/2019 23:52

@butterboo
Indeed, sounds like you're onto someone good. Yes definitely don't do the filler at the same time as the first botox.
I very occasionally have those folds filled, I don't know how old you are etc, but you might want yo ask about having voluma by juvederm put in your cheeks as it fills and lifts your cheeks and makes you look much fresher and can sometimes lift out the creases. It depends in your actual face. I'd previously just had them filled.i then saw the new wonder Dr who told me about this and it really is true. It seems a lot of it is caused by the drop for where your cheeks have hollowed and are sort if hanging- sounds so glam.
I have to say cheek filler is IMO less painful than naso labial folds(i have juvederm 3). I do find them extremely bad despite magic cream, and local anaesthetic. It's the one area that gets me. Have a gin first. It does only hurt for 5 mins and it is much better now doctors use a cannula not A needle anymore. Let me know of your progress.good luck.

namechanged2000 · 05/07/2019 00:01

I get it done. I'm early 30s. Best money I've spent!

Sinn · 05/07/2019 00:06

How much is it?

namechanged2000 · 05/07/2019 00:12

@Sinn I'm £150 for one area and £225 for 2 areas.

Crimbles · 05/07/2019 00:26

I've had it twice now (i'm late 30's). It's so subtle my DH hasn't noticed, but i feel so much better. I just look fresher i guess. It's baby botox that i have so i'm not completely frozen in the forehead area. My eyebrows still move and i can frown a little bit.

It took me about 7 -10 days to see noticeable results. It's the best money i have spent.

butterboo · 05/07/2019 04:20

@GlamGiraffe that's exactly what my lady said - re loss of volume in the cheeks and sagging and by filling them it plumps and lifts the folds. It's reassuring to hear they are saying the same things!

I had filler for the first time on Tuesday on the lines at the side of my mouth. I’m creeping close to 40 and the lines were making me look old. While the rest of my face still looks not bad for my age. I was very nervous, but I went to someone that a friend recommended. The women who done it is a registered nurse and has been doing this for 5 years. She used a cannula as she explained there was less chance of complications (which she talked me through) It cost £170 and took about 45mins. I’m delighted with the right side, she put a lot in there, she said the line was deeper than she initially thought. Which left her less to work with on the other side. So it’s not quite so good. But definitely better than what it was. I could see the difference straight away. Later that night it was very itchy, she had advised me to take antihistamine if this happened and it stopped the itch. There were no signs i had something done other than 4 little nicks which looked like small spots, and a few days on there is no sign of the incision marks at all. I’m going back to get left side done better, and I’m also considering having my top lip done. I’ve always wanted to make it a little bigger. I was so scared to start on this procedure path, but I’m now v glad I did. She said to me it’s better to start before to much damage has occurred. Can’t wait for my next visit!😁

MadameGazelleIsMyHomegirl · 05/07/2019 11:33

Can anyone recommend a good practitioner in BERKSHIRE? Eg Reading area?

bobstersmum · 05/07/2019 12:45

I am definitely going to ask for botox for my Christmas present!

SrSteveOskowski · 05/07/2019 12:50

A friend of mine had it done (she's 36) and I would never have guessed if she hadn't told me. She just looks fresher and less tired.

We think a friend of DH's had it done. He's now got the shiniest forehead I've ever seen and seems to have no expression in most of his face.

JemimaPyjamas · 05/07/2019 13:08

@butterboo sorry, I didn't see you'd replied to my post. No, nobody as noticed, but it was very subtle and basically makes me look fresher. I am also still able to frown but it's a fraction as deep as it was before I had the botox. I also had it on my crows feet, and a slight eyebrow lift

SolitudeAtAltitude · 05/07/2019 13:14

I know quite a few women who have done it and think nobody notices, as, it would be unkind to point out!

But it is noticeable as hell, they end up with unmovable frozen forehead, which for some reason is always really shiny.

Does botox make foreheads shiny? Or is that just the people I know?

I can spot a lot of fillers and lip-plumping too. Again, I would never say and it's not my business after all.

Do what you like, but to me it IS noticeable

Delatron · 05/07/2019 13:27

The point is that is is noticeable on some people but not everyone who has botox has a frozen shiny forehead. The question is, are you just noticing the bad work?

If you leave movement and the odd line I think it’s harder to spot. It can leave foreheads shiny but again I think that’s if you have it all over your forehead.

A tiny bit between the eyebrows doesn’t make the rest of the forehead shiny I find.
