Cracked Heels

WinterWillow · 02/07/2019 16:02

I work as an events planner and as such most of my time is spent on my feet, which has left me with terribly dry and cracked heels.

I have a wedding and family holiday coming up at the end of the month and I'd really like to get this sorted so that I can feel my best.

Any suggestions on the best product to use? Ideally I'd like something that's fast acting and that doesn't break the bank!

Thank You

Flexibility...reasonable price and very good.

ProperVexed · 02/07/2019 16:08

Flexibility?.. flexitol! Makes your heels very flexible

CoconutMango · 02/07/2019 16:08

Flexitol. But also closed heels and shoe liners/socks...

CoconutMango · 02/07/2019 16:09

Open heel shoes are the main problem!

Justmuddlingalong · 02/07/2019 16:09

The Superdrug own brand heel balm is just as good as Flexitol. But cheaper.

Greenolivesorblackolives · 02/07/2019 16:10

Vaseline before bed!
(Disclaimer- be careful, it’s slippery)

onemouseplace · 02/07/2019 16:13

Flexitol is brilliant. I got an industrial sized vat on Amazon ages ago which has worked out loads cheaper than the tubes you can buy in the chemist. It's quite slippery though, so you need to wear socks while it absorbs.

soberken · 02/07/2019 16:17

Flexitol and daily pumice in the shower

Mine were SO bad I contemplated getting a blade and slicing skin off (very bad idea)

SpeckledyHen · 02/07/2019 16:17

Flexitol

RainOrSun · 02/07/2019 16:19

Soap and Glory Heal Genius.
And some sort of file. Newton's chiropody sponges are good. Or I just have some sandpaper like stuff attached to a handle.
File and cream, file and cream, file and cream.

WinterWillow · 02/07/2019 16:20

Thanks all I'll try the Flexitol!

Has flexitol got animal products in? If so is there anything similar without animal products does anyone know?

Beebumble2 · 02/07/2019 16:30

After I’d solved the same problem with Flexitol, I found that going barefooted at home helped. Also, using a heel skin grater ( egg shaped thing from Superdrug) after bathing or showering stopped them cracking.

LindaLa · 02/07/2019 16:55

Vapour rub works.

Tiger balm does too.
My feet have never been softer!

digdug · 02/07/2019 17:12

Newton Chiropody Sponge, then Flexitol.

Honestly they're the best things ever. You can get a three pack on Amazon. Leave my feet looking and feeling so good. I give them a good scrub after a soak in the bath (remember to rinse bath out afterwards 🤢).

I then smother the Flexitol and and put cotton socks on to sleep in. Baby fresh feet in the morning.

Emmapeeler · 02/07/2019 17:17

I second vapour rub... it is also anti-fungal.

soberken · 02/07/2019 21:45

@endofacentury active ingredient is Urea (25%)

I don't know if that's animal product.

giggly · 03/07/2019 12:27

Vapour rub as in Vicks?

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 03/07/2019 12:45

Newtons chiropody sponge first then flexitol.

Destinesia · 03/07/2019 13:37

I much prefer O'keeffes or dermatonics over flexitol. Whichever one you choose the key is to use it consistently. I also find these really good (I don't have these exact ones)

albird · 03/07/2019 13:42

I use CCS cream all year round (heel cream) as I used to suffer terribly - haven't had a problem for years now.

Emmapeeler · 03/07/2019 19:26

Vapour rub as in Vicks?

Yes! Snufflebabe or Boots own works too Smile

Loopytiles · 03/07/2019 19:29

Cheese grater foot thingy and cream with urea in.

soberfabulous · 03/07/2019 19:33

I live overseas in a hot country so my feet are often on view. I'm militant about keeping them smooth as a result!

Foot file every evening after a shower with damp feet and then a dry file before bed. You might need to do this for a week to get all the cracked hard stuff off. Then lanolin or other gunky emollient and socks to bed.

They'll be soft in no time Smile

Calloway · 03/07/2019 19:36

Newton chiropody sponge followed by O'Keeffe's Healthy Feet cream.
