Cabin luggage

Not quite S&B but trust you lot!

I need a new cabin case, sized 50, 35, 20 to meet stupid Flybe requirements. I need it to be spectacularly light, soft, and ideally not just black or grey. I also need it to cost less than around £120 pounds.

Any recs, please and thank you?

I think that’s a slightly smaller allowance than most airlines which are more like 55-40-20 but how about www.revelationlondon.com/weightless-b2a-cabin-suitcase-55x35x20-1306 in blue?

Yes - it's so annoying. Thanks for that. I don't 'love' it but looks like my options are going to be very restricted. :(

Or this one in the peach colour? It’s a bit heavier but smarter. www.ryman.co.uk/aerolite-hardshell-cabin-luggage-case

Thanks. Definitely need soft and as light as possible. It doesn't need to be smart. Even a rucksack on wheels thing would do.

I got ours in TK Maxx when we flew FlyBe. About £40

Just checked sized and it's 55, 35, 20.
Still hard to find. Will look in TKM.

I've got a boring one from Argos already but hoping to give that to DO and get a nicer one for myself!

Are wheels a must? I bought one of these Osprey carry-ons recently and it's awesome. It's really light, apparently indestructible, all the straps come off if it needs to go through the hold, it's got internal straps and comes with a packing cube so things don't move around too much, if you don't overfill it it would go under a Ryanair seat, and it unzips fully like a suitcase. It's also much easier to lift up hotel stairs or if faced with cobbles and a walk. And it comes in nice colours and makes you look like a serious traveller! I've started seeing a lot of them going through the frequent flyer lanes recently.

this

Suitcase specifications:

Size H55, W36, D20cm.
33 litre capacity.
Weight 1.54kg.
Suitcase features:
2 inset wheels.
Retractable handle.
Cabin friendly - always check with your airline as the cabin luggage dimensions can differ.

I live off shore and fly fly(May)be most weeks . This has served me well for years . Just don’t over stuff it as it has soft sides but I have never been caught out .

Wheels are a must!

The Argos one is one centimetre too big, annoyingly. Would rather not take a chance in case I end up with the officious jobsworth.

Sorry can't help as we travel with a medium rucksack that goes overhead and a tote bag that goes under the seat in front. We flew to London with Flybe recently and I could not believe the size of the box thing they go around slotting over everyone's luggage to check the size, it's tiny! And they were absolutely brutal about it even though the flights weren't full. For some reason neither of us had our bags 'measured' both ways.

The one I've got already is an IT one - it's good but dull. I've seen another couple online though and some are a bit brighter.

Thanks for that one, Solitude. It'd be fine at a push, but I really was hoping for something not just black or grey.

I got a good IT one from Matalan with butterflies on a few years ago. I see they have a toucan one which is 55x35x20cm. Light weight.

It sure is, but I think it's too big. :(

There's an ATX cabin bag in 18" that is under your dimensions - can't link but it's on Amazon for £20.99 in red or purple

How far are you from airport ? I took my case in and popped it into the gauge . It fitted fine .
No good if you have to make a journey .
Also Flybe do their own cases ...hold on ...

Golly it’s pricey and black but here goes

Samsonite one sensible but dull.

Will look on Amazon.

I just want to buy one of the right size, Trumpton, rather than making a trip to the airport! Grin

Ah ok. I only live 10 mins away from our small airport so was able just to pop in .
Good luck . I have been thinking about personalising mine with some bright fabric as it’s very dull .
