Poorly fitting bras

Just looking for any pointers from those in the know. Every 6 months or so I go to a local bra boutique, get measured and fitted. It seems to be happening more that the bras look great in the shop and for a few days but then that's it. The issue I have is boobs falling into the centre but worse of all is the side and back fat accentuation. I am obviously kverweight and working on that and I know losing weight is probably the ultimate answer but is there anything in the interim I can do to stop this? The band is quite thick but rolls so it seems thinner. I wear the bra on the centre hooks, pulling them tighter just has the same effect but worse.

Am I being fitted incorrectly or do I need a different type of bra? Will boning(ahem) help?

What size are you wearing?

BiscuitDrama · 21/06/2019 17:35

I like a bra that’s really deep at the side. It looks like that would help. Smile

dementedpixie · 21/06/2019 17:36

And what brand of bra?

dementedpixie · 21/06/2019 17:36

They don't look very sturdy

TheOutside · 21/06/2019 17:40

It's Goddard, 40C. I think it may be this range.

Could you measure yourself to get an idea if the size is correct?

TheOutside · 21/06/2019 17:42

I've never looked at them online before but if I had, I would have thought they did look far too 'petite' for my large frame. But you rely on the fitters to know this Sad

Go to bravissimo. I bet they stick you in a 36/38E. That bra is really flimsy. I would feel totally unsupported.

booborbust.com

What dress size are you?

TheOutside · 21/06/2019 17:43

I can measure myself but there seems yo be a lot of different website for discovering your true size??

I have four hooks on my bra and it's about four inches deep under the arm.

hopeishere · 21/06/2019 17:44

You need something sturdier. I have 38dd and wear Chantelle. They're pretty utilitarian but do the job.

Margotshypotheticaldog · 21/06/2019 17:44

I wear fantasie and they have considerably thicker back strap and sides, also a 40c. Never tried Gossard

dementedpixie · 21/06/2019 17:44

I liked to the Boob or bust website above

dementedpixie · 21/06/2019 17:45

The main thing is that what you measure under your bust is your back size - don't add any extra inches

NoBaggyPants · 21/06/2019 17:45

I tried that bra, there's not nearly enough support for a larger size.

Have a look at Boob or Bust as a good starting point.

TheOutside · 21/06/2019 17:45

I'll have a measure up then. I'm a dress size 18-20.

dementedpixie · 21/06/2019 17:46

I'm a 20/22 and have a 36 back (36GG)

letstryanewone · 21/06/2019 17:47

I'm the same dress size as you and there is no way a bra that flimsy would support me. The band needs to be much thicker (and I only wear cheap Asda bras at the moment but even they are more supportive)

FooFightersFan · 21/06/2019 17:48

I second a visit to Bravissimo- I was wearing a bra 2inches too big and 2 cup sizes too small. I'm stunned that I'm a 32E. I still think my boobs are small, but my bra size says otherwise.
I wasn't even measured but the fit is fabulous now.

Margotshypotheticaldog · 21/06/2019 17:48

Just checked, actually I'm wearing 40D! Similar to this,
Pic is of model, not me Grin

I'm betting you're a 36G, OP.

That bra is not right for you.
Fitting is a good idea, but you don’t have to go with the bra they fit with.
Try on loads, you know your own boobs / shape. You’ll know what’s comfortable & trust your own judgement.
It’s like buying any item of clothing.
Say your a size 12 dress, but in a flared style, not bodycon.
One pair of jeans might give you a great arse, another might give you mono-cheek.
Same applies for bras, there are so many fits & styles.
Plus, bras that look good on the hanger are not always the ones that look well under clothes.
