Poorly fitting bras

Just looking for any pointers from those in the know. Every 6 months or so I go to a local bra boutique, get measured and fitted. It seems to be happening more that the bras look great in the shop and for a few days but then that's it. The issue I have is boobs falling into the centre but worse of all is the side and back fat accentuation. I am obviously kverweight and working on that and I know losing weight is probably the ultimate answer but is there anything in the interim I can do to stop this? The band is quite thick but rolls so it seems thinner. I wear the bra on the centre hooks, pulling them tighter just has the same effect but worse.

Am I being fitted incorrectly or do I need a different type of bra? Will boning(ahem) help?

It has me at 40 GG. I'll try again later, there's no way my boobs are GG, they're just a handful Grin

I agree with other comments, that bra is too flimsy and unstructured. I am a 34H and all my bras have 4 hooks on the back and the back band is much deeper. Measure round your body with a tape measure under boobs and that'll give you a back measurement, then use the website suggested and you'll get an idea of cup size. I get all mine from Bravissimo, no stores near me but I try on at home and just return ones not right. They are really helpful over the phone if you ring them before you order and tell them what you are looking for.

Are you actually measuring a 40 around your ribs? You’re not adding or taking away anything? (That’s the main mistake people make).

I only ask because I am a 16/18 dress size and I am a 30G - sometimes a 32F which is a sister size depending on shops. I do have a small rib cage for my size but it’s worth double checking your measurements. A GG cup on a 40 back isn’t actually that large as the back measurement balances out the cups.

This is a good link- thebetterbracampaign.blogspot.com/2013/03/bra-fitting.html?m=1

Also, the thing with your local bra shop (even though it’s nice to support them) is that they will have limited items in your “size”.
So, they will put you in the only 40 backs they have, even ifbit’s Not the right style for your shape.

The bra is too flimsy. Have you tried longline bras? Freya has some nice ones.

TheOutside · 21/06/2019 18:17

I do also suspect this! @DearLady

Bravissimo is within a driving distance for me so I will try there.

I think I measured lower down my ribcage than right in the crease of my boobs. I will try again.

Yes, sturdy looking bra = much better look under clothes. Bravissimo have plenty in colours/patterns but with much better support. Bra sizes are different now, D or E is not a big cup at all especially in small sizes.

I would get fitted at Bravissimo and get one decent bra, if you can get to a shop. You can always look for online sales once you know your size, I tend to stick to one or two brands.

You need to measure right under the breasts close to where they attach to your body. The back is likely looking tight because the cup size is far too small

Try something like this when you've got your size. It's got a wide deep back band
