Feminine deodorant

MaiaRindell · 11/06/2019 17:37

I have been using Femfresh spray deodorant daily for three months and it has changed my life. I have spent years feeling self-conscious about fanjo dampness and odour. It completely removes both and the relief is immense.
But, I now have thrush for the second time in a week. Has anyone got any advice or alternatives I could try? I really don't want to stop using it. Help!

I can’t even believe it’s a thing. What a fucking world to live in.

CassianAndor · 11/06/2019 17:41

yeuch (to feminine deodorant). I shower morning and (usually) evening. Nothing else needed. Spraying chemicals on my vulva? No thanks.

MaiaRindell · 11/06/2019 17:41

Why, moreslidingdoors? If you were a very sweaty person like me, why shouldn't you want to remove odours? Every pair of underwear and lioght-coloured trousers I own are sweat stained from the extreme moisture

I wasn't really looking to be judged, I was looking for advice after finally finding relief to my self-consciousness

WtF? You’ve had thrush twice in a week but you want to keep spraying chemicals on your vag?

Whackitupto200 · 11/06/2019 17:44

If you’re staining your clothes that’s not normal. Get it checked by the docs instead of nuking your privates.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 11/06/2019 17:44

The only advice I can offer is to stop using it.

SrSteveOskowski · 11/06/2019 17:44

In all honesty, the spray is probably what's CAUSING the thrush.

MaiaRindell · 11/06/2019 17:45

Whackitupto200 or an alternative. It doesn't have to be chemicals. I'd obvioulsy prefer something natural. I don't want to go back to being sweaty and smelly all the time.

Wish I hadn't asked. I was wondering if anyone had effective alternatives. I have been the doctor and been tested for BV which it's not. My doctor suggested it was sweat. Considering the deodorant removes it completely, I assume she was correct. There's nothing wrong with wanting to feel fresh.

Ask men in your life what deodorant they use for their sweaty knobs.maybe the company that makes the product they use also have a female version on the market.

FlibbertyGiblets · 11/06/2019 17:56

Deodorant isn't antiperspirant I don't think.

How easy to get a referral to a derm re hyperhydrosis?

MoreSlidingDoors · 11/06/2019 17:57

It doesn't have to be chemicals. I'd obvioulsy prefer something natural.

Everything is chemicals.

I don’t put anything but water on mine. Could you deal with whatever it is with a damp flannel, perhaps?

dementedpixie · 11/06/2019 17:59

Do you wear panty liners? Maybe try a liquid talc? Where are you actually spraying it?

zenasfuck · 11/06/2019 17:59

Stop spraying stuff on your chuff
Where are you sweating from? Is it sweat or discharge?

RagingWhoreBag · 11/06/2019 18:12

Do you have any pubes? If not, grow them back, that's what they're for!

RagingWhoreBag · 11/06/2019 18:13

And cotton knickers. I wear men's boxers, comfy, no VPL and they come in lots of lovely colours/patterns!

MaiaRindell · 11/06/2019 18:16

MoreSlidingDoors Water and a damp flannel to 'deal with whatever it is'. How patronising. I have said it's sweat. I was looking for advice from people who might have experienced something similar.

zensfuck Definitely not discharge. It's from the crease where my thigh meets my groin.

dementedpixie I don't wear panty liners. They make me sweat more. I will try liquid talc. Thank you.

RagingWhoreBag Still have pubes! I will try cotton boxers. I never thought of that. Women's knickers in pure cotton are hard to find.

Maybe try washable liners as they would be less plastic

Fatkins · 11/06/2019 18:18

Yes, I wonder if it could be a sweat problem, (non medical term sorry). If it's so bad you're staining your clothes, I really would go back to the GP. I know someone who had such a terrible sweat problem that he couldn't hold a pen as it slipped out of his hands! He had an operation where they did something to a gland in his armpit I think.

Anyway, I understand why you use the deodorant in those circumstances, but I also understand why people hate the product so much. I used to work in a chemists and was genuinely shocked at the number of women who bought it! The wipes and the spray. I just think it's clever marketing tbh as surely not all of them needed special vulva spray. But maybe they did. Who knows?

I love Lush products and they do loads of lovely dusting powders. Maybe they would do the job, although I don't know how vulva friendly they are tbh.

Tbh, I'd be going back to the GP.

MoreSlidingDoors · 11/06/2019 18:19

You can get Botox injections for excessive sweat.

MaiaRindell · 11/06/2019 18:22

Fatkins Thank you. I will try Lush. I don't spray on my vulva - just the crease where the elastic of big pants would sit. I am quite a sweaty person who tends towards smelling anyway. My underarms can be very sweaty too. I will maybe try to see the alternative GP at my practice.

Women's knickers in pure cotton are hard to find.

I don't know where you're shopping, but I never wear anything else!

The Femfresh is causing your thrush. The solution is to stop using it. There is no alternative.

Things you can do:
Buy coloured knickers and the stains won't show as much.
Replace them frequently. Can you afford to spend £10 on knickers every three months?
Wear washable pantyliners with wings, and change them every time you go to the loo. Not disposables, the waterproof backing will make you sweatier.
Use talc or liquid talc - only outside the knicker area.
Similarly, you could try Mitchum or Triple Dry outside the knicker area.
Learn to love yourself, and don't assume that being sweaty makes you stinky or dirty, or that anyone else can see or smell you.

Hi I recommend medicated talcum powder, called cuticura
