Experience with Hyperpigmentation Clinic?

Hi ladies,

A few months ago I read a thread on here regarding treatment in Haley Street, at the HyperPigmentation Clinic with Dr Venitta Rattan. For some reason I cannot seem to find the post. I am thinking of booking with the clinic but I am finding it hard to see any independent reviews of their treatments. The only reviews I see are on their website. Their YouTube is closed for comments and there are no google reviews? It’s very expensive so I want someone with hands on experience who can tell me of their experience before I commit my money. Anyone who has used them or knows an actual person who has?

OP posts:

Yes tranexamic acid is super effective as long as it’s not contraindicated. I use to a lot in my patients and get great results.

silver1977 · 09/05/2020 23:19

@DrNataliaSpierings that's great to hear!
Thankyou so much for answering, it's fantastic to get advice on here from an actual dermatologist. Very much appreciated 🤗

Frankiefree · 09/05/2020 23:29

@DrNataliaSpierings do you have any recommendations for dark pigmentation on bridge of nose caused possibly by glasses rubbing.

DrNataliaSpierings · 10/05/2020 07:10

No problem 😊

DrNataliaSpierings · 10/05/2020 07:11

I would suggest topical tretinoin and hydroquinone if not contraindicated. And getting new glasses

Frankiefree · 10/05/2020 14:55

Thank you. Would these need to be prescribed by a doctor or are they able to be bought over the counter?

OllyBJolly · 10/05/2020 19:13

Can someone give an insight into how the online consultation works, and an idea of the costs?

silver1977 · 10/05/2020 23:51

@Frankiefree they are prescription only from a dermatologist.

@OllyBJolly Dermatica I think has a waiting list at the moment. It is £22 a month for your prescription to be posted out to you every month. You can however easily change the date and time between deliveries depending on how long it takes you to use the cream up! Mine works out about every 6/7 weeks. I am more than happy to pay this rather than waste money on other expensive lotions and potions that promise miracles and don't!

I don't know of any other online dermatologists, Dermatica is well reviewed on here. Boots may also be an option but haven't looked into them?

MrsHoolie · 15/05/2020 00:04

I have Melasma on my cheeks which appeared very soon after I went on the contraceptive patch.

Obviously it really flares up in the summer and I wear high factor sun cream every day of the year. I tan really easily anyway so it's a pain.

I can't find any foundation that will cover it,I've also tried colour corrective stuff but nothing looks good.

Will definitely look into the things suggested on this thread.

cricketmum84 · 15/05/2020 08:51

@MrsHoolie I've found bare minerals gives quite good coverage although I agree without using a very heavy foundation nothing really covers it up and I don't fancy blocking my skin using these total coverage ones especially during summer.

Onaedo · 29/05/2020 14:08

Hello
Please can you email it to me?
Many thanks

So which Dermatica products should we go for? I've had brown spots on my face for a while (I'm 48 now and have olive skin) I had a few laser treatments but they merely make the spots lighter - they don't go away. I now use Vit C from The Ordinary as well as a few other TO products. But I'd love to get rid of those brown spots once and for all. I do use SPF 50 on my face every day.

Stinkyjellycat · 29/05/2020 16:37

@DrNataliaSpierings

I think it’s important so say that I don’t work for or am affiliated with dermatica in any way - I don’t have a financial or other conflict if interest in saying it offers a good, cost effective service. I have no financial ties to dermatica at all.
@DrNataliaSpierings It’s great to have you in this thread as it’s so informative. You are still listed on Dermatica’s website so you need to get them to remove you if you’re no longer working there. I appreciate you're not in control of their website!

If we use the combination of Tretinoin and Hydroquinone, can you jump in and use it every night as Obagi suggests, or should it be every other night to start with?

Bigpaintinglittlepainting · 29/05/2020 19:10

Does anyone know how long it takes for pigmentation to clear with Dermatica? I’ve been using tret and hydroquinine for 8 weeks now and whilst it has faded slightly it’s not been significant

Stinkyjellycat · 29/05/2020 19:52

@bigpaintinglittlepainting
Have you had much redness or peeling with the Tret/Hydroquinone? Just wondering how it compares to using Obagi.

Bigpaintinglittlepainting · 31/05/2020 20:15

@Stinkyjellycat no not at all but my skin doesn’t seem to react to anything!

Missluck693 · 01/06/2020 06:45

I wish I had come across this thread earlier before disposing a grand on a useless treatment. It might work for some but it didn't for me. Dr Rattan's strength is her video advice on skin which you can access for free on YouTube.

MBSH · 04/06/2020 17:50

It is possible for you to suggest what I can use for dark circles under and above the eye. I’m a black women who’s very frustrated and it’s effecting my self esteem.

GloJim · 02/07/2020 23:39

I’ve actually had x2 treatments at the hyperpigmentation clinic for dark circles. I’m due a third in Aug (was originally booked for May but Covid has meant a push back).

Unfortunately I’ve not been impressed so far. Treatment is v expensive (£990 for x3 treatments) and I’ve hardly seen a difference. Also their customer service isn’t very good, even after having spent that amount! One would think they’d at least have the professionalism to ensure their clients are responded to. Anyway, excuse the rant. Unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend.
p.s their treatment is specifically for brown and black skin

Bizarrely I've had food results with..... tomatoes. Seriously. Came across it while researching different treatments on the net and figured it wouldn't hurt to try (unless you're allergic to tomatoes). Rub the juicy bit over your face (or problem area) a couple of times a day. It worked for me although I then got complacent and they've come back up but I'm back on it and feel confident I'll get results again. There's also been some research into the benefits of eating tomato paste and olive oil daily. For the price of a few tomatoes it's definitely worth a try to see if it works for you. Hope it helps someone.

user1474402918 · 06/07/2020 21:15

Good results, not food results!

ChelseaMad2020 · 01/12/2020 10:47

Hi all,

Just thought I'd pitch in to the conversation...made an account just to say what I have to say...

So a friend of mine who recently visited the clinic was turned down from making future visits as they were apparently: "causing a disturbance" and were: "a disruptive figure" in this clinic.

And do you know why they said this? It was apparently because she was asking too many questions about her treatment plan and asked for her husband to be in the room with her, seeing as English isn't her first language and she wanted her English-speaking husband to be there to make sure they completely understood what they had to do with the creams/face washes etc. once they were back home...

So you pay £200-£300 per session, and they barred her because she was asking questions? If she was asking too many questions, shouldn't the staff tell her that her time has run out instead of banning her?! Have no doubts, my friend is the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of a disruptive figure, she wouldn't hurt a fly and is a total angel - do you know how distressed she was when she received this email describing her in such a way?

This place is a joke and have no idea of customer service...plus their 'clinic' is more of a basement than anything else...And she didn't get any clearance in her hyperpigmentation after the few sessions she had, so the results were a disappointment too...

Thought you all should know x
