Shoes for narrow feet?

littlecabbage · 10/06/2019 18:37

I am so sick of trying to buy shoes for my narrow feet and ankles (not a stealth boast, am less narrow of thigh and hip Grin). Can anyone suggest where to buy narrow shoes (sandals, ballet pumps, etc. Trainers not a problem as can lace them up)?

Guess not! 😁

Tbh I tend to put a gel insole in which lifts my feet in the shoe slightly and makes them fit better, which doesn't quite answer your question.

JaceLancs · 11/06/2019 23:23

I have narrow feet especially across the toes
Try Dune, some Aldo flats, Peter kaiser, I buy a lot of Italian and Brazilian shoes when I find them cheap eg tkmaxx
I’ve bought moda en pelle sandals but have to go down a shoe size

Tolleshunt · 11/06/2019 23:29

I have this problem. It's an utter ball ache in this country. The only thing i can suggest is a trip to Italy. They know how to make a proper narrow show there

Tolleshunt · 11/06/2019 23:30

Shoe!!

That was basically a place-mark. I'd love to know the answer too.

78percentLindt · 11/06/2019 23:47

James Ingles and special features. If you can get into the shop so much the better. One in Peebles one in the New Forest. I am dreading replacing my ballet flats as the last isn't used any more.
Some shoes are Frumpy but special features staff in particular are really helpful. I have phoned and asked about shoe fit and was advised that as i returned shoe x as it diďnt fit me , shoe y probably wouldn't either.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 11/06/2019 23:51

It’s a Ball ache OP I have the same problem particularly with trainers, looks like I’m wearing clown shoes. I have no answer just wanted to empathise!

78percentLindt · 12/06/2019 07:19

That should be Special Feetures damned auto correct.
Also for trainers specialist sports shop or running shop as some New Balance shoes come in different widths.

SallieSallow · 12/06/2019 07:57

I have narrow feet that are extra narrow round my heels, also have stupidly high arches. I can’t wear heels either so my choices are extremely limited, I’ve given up on any type of slip on shoes & just stick to lace ups or boots/shoe boot styles. On the very rare occasion I need to dress up I have to try & find something with loads of straps.

Glitteryfrog · 12/06/2019 08:16

Clark's do narrow fit occasionally. I did email them to moan about the lack of selection and got told there 'wasnt the demand'.
Carvella a quite narrow.

NationalAnthem · 12/06/2019 11:15

Was hoping to find some answer for dd on this thread but sadly frumpy and narrow seem to go hand in hand. She has resorted to trainers and DM boots! School shoes are a complete and utter nightmare.

purpleme12 · 12/06/2019 11:36

Oh my god I have the same problem! I don't know why they can't do narrow ranges as they've introduced wide ranges! Sandals are almost impossible and I've never been able to wear slip ons. Boots also impossible. I live in trainers

Very · 12/06/2019 13:03

I find Russell and Bromley pretty good - Aquitalia especially, although they mostly just do boots. Expensive but I don’t mind investing in good shoes... I figure they work harder than a handbag Smile

littlecabbage · 12/06/2019 14:00

Thanks for all the responses. I did look on the Clarks website, and there were only 2 styles that came in narrow, neither of which I liked. And the James Ingles and Special Feetures ones are mostly frumpy, as you say.

I will look at some of the other brands mentioned, and start considering family holidays to Italy!!

I’m ok with boots as just bulk up with socks, my feet are always cold so don’t mind wearing thick socks or multiple pairs. I hate wearing sandals but it’s seldom warm enough for me to need them, very much doubt I’ll have to bother this summer!

Iwishyouwell · 12/06/2019 15:09

Ferregamo shoes are narrow.

Weathergirl1 · 12/06/2019 15:27

LK Bennett and Hobbs for my best shoes (can usually still fit party feet in those too).

Clarks had C fitting Hamble Oak brogues a few years ago but looks like the demand wasn't there (even with C fitting I had to stick felt ball pads under the tongue to stop the two sides overlapping when they were laced. I got weird looks when I asked about 'tongue raisers' which is what our local Clarks shop called them in the 80s/90s for my school shoes 🙄).

I have worn Dune in the past but not for a few years. Definitely second PPs suggesting Italian shoes. I find Spanish ones tend to be narrow too.

Also Converse. I didn't realise they were narrow until a few years ago - could have been wearing them for years!!

Weathergirl1 · 12/06/2019 15:30

PS: to the PP asking why wide but not narrow - my hypothesis is that the population is generally heavier now than it was and foot width isn't just related to bone structure!

Seventytwoseventythree · 12/06/2019 15:32

I find superga better than converse for day to day trainers. Personally like the accessorise pumps because they have elastic around the edge where your foot goes so avoids the sliding-out effect I usually experience with ballet pumps!

Seventytwoseventythree · 12/06/2019 15:32

With superga definitely need to size down though

SallieSallow · 12/06/2019 15:43

I find converse much better than superga, I get the ones with the arch support insole but the normal Chuck Taylor’s are fairly narrow fit too. They used to do them in an extra narrow fit, think they were called dainty but not sure if they still do them.

threetimesover · 12/06/2019 16:01

Russell and Bromley are super narrow!

purpleme12 · 12/06/2019 16:27

I don't shop online cos most of the time you'll get three things and they won't fit or won't look good. But all these suggestions it looks like you'd have to order online

BrassicaBabe · 12/06/2019 16:56

No one makes narrow fit shoes! Angry

I'm mostly fine with anything lace up or strapped. But what I really want is a nice pair of slip on court shoes. Decent and simple. Nothing! If I had the money I'd pay to have a pair made for me.

Loads of wide fit stuff around. Nothing in a C fitting. Grrrr

LagoDiComo · 12/06/2019 21:45

Office have a few options. The Safari sandal, the Hallie sandal (sizing down for both) and the Olivia pumps (elasticated).
Sizing down Carvela Bravo sandals are quite narrow
