Your best VERY CHEAP shampoo and conditioner

What super-cheap shampoo and conditioners have you found that do a good job, and leave your hair looking shiny and feeling healthy?

I'm currently using Boots' 75p Coconut & Almond. The conditioner is ok but the shampoo is nothing special.

What are your recommendations, under £1 a bottle? Thanks :)

These are £2, but larger bottles.

I rate the red one.

LlamasSitOnPyjamas · 29/05/2019 14:25

I love Morrison's own raspberry/rose shampoo and conditioner, can't remember how much exactly but sort cheap and smells lovely. Their apple one is nice too!

HasThisSoddingNameGoneToo · 29/05/2019 15:56

Thanks! I'll definitely check out the Morrisons ones.

We've been trying alberto balsam and i have to say it does a good job.

IggyAce · 29/05/2019 16:01

Schwarzkopf supersoft shampoo and conditioner I like the red and the purple bottle ones, £1 each from home bargains or savers.

ItsAllGone19 · 29/05/2019 16:02

The Lacura one's from Aldi. Something like 79p a bottle. It smells lovely and my hair feels nice. We switched from a far more expensive brand because my husband bought it on a whim once and we much preferred it.

BendingSpoons · 29/05/2019 16:09

I also use Alberto Balsam and am happy with it.

stucknoue · 29/05/2019 16:09

Aldi have good ones

Heymummee · 29/05/2019 16:11

The Aldi lacura shampoo and conditioner in the black and green bottle which look like Tresemme are great. I was using £30 ones from my salon before and these make my hair look, feel and smell much nicer. Probably full of crap, but I’m happy with it.

Skyejuly · 29/05/2019 23:50

I use the cheap aldi one too.

Singlenotsingle · 29/05/2019 23:58

I use the Boots coconut shampoo and conditioner as well. Super cheap and my hair feels lovely for 2/3 days afterwards.

QuantamBaby · 30/05/2019 00:06

The Aldi Lacura range are really good and very inexpensive...

AndWhatNext · 30/05/2019 00:08

Really depends on your hair. I can use any shampoo (don't even bother with conditioner) and my hair is shiny and feels good. Currently use a Lush shampoo bar and still amazing. Even if I wash daily.
But my DD, needs argan oil shampoo to make it shine but cannot wash more than once a week otherwise limp. To make it shine needs conditioner, ideally a hair mask regularly too.
It's taken me years (to my DD's hair's detriment) that not all hair is equal.
Another example, if I don't brush my hair I don't get any issues with knots or matting. With DD, don't brush and within 1 day and we're eyeing up the scissors!

managedmis · 30/05/2019 20:49

Alberto Balsam ones are very good

Popuppippa · 30/05/2019 21:08

The Pound Store near me does Swartzkopf for £1 - the pink bottle is good.

Jsmith99 · 30/05/2019 21:11

Tesco anti-dandruff shampoo is just as good as head & shoulders and a fraction o& the price.

MikeUniformMike · 30/05/2019 21:15

Boots or Lidl.

Yearofchange · 30/05/2019 21:17

Apple or tea tree Alberto balsam are amazing for my hair which tends to be greasy.

xSharonNeedlesx · 30/05/2019 21:17

Alberto Balsam Lychee and Coconut. Smells absolutely divine and leaves my hair soft and shiny.

MountainPeakGeek · 30/05/2019 21:23

I've found it's less what shampoo and conditioner, as long as I use ones for dry hair, and more to do with switching regularly. My hair always seems best after the first wash with a different one and then gradually gets duller, but is then great again when I use another brand. I tried just using Neutrogena (not cheap!) anti residue shampoo once a week and sticking with the same normal shampoo and conditioner, but it still didn't seem to work as well as switching brands regularly. Maybe my hair is just odd Grin

Hepzibar · 30/05/2019 21:30

I have used every top brand you can think of to try and get a smooth sleek style, and spent a fortune too! Always ended up with dry frizzy ends. I tried the advice of 'keeping changing because your hair gets used to it', but I couldn't find one that actually worked in the first place.

From a recommendation on here to use a silicone free shampoo, I started using Herbal Essence 0%. It's cheap and it works. I have used it for about 3 years and Wouldn't change it.

78percentLindt · 30/05/2019 21:37

Alberto Balsam here too- I use the blue one for coloured hair. Aldi Lacura did an own brand version for a while and then all local shops stopped stocking it. However I noticed that they were stocking the raspberry and green ones again the other day. I am currently using a Tesco version, seems OK but conditioner seems a bit thin.

Synecdoche · 30/05/2019 21:41

A higher initial upfront cost but I've been using mine since December and it's only half used:

www.amazon.co.uk/Friendly-Soap-Shampoo-Lavender-Tree/dp/B0124QOZYY?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Followed by a diluted apple cider vinegar rinse.

My hair has never been better.

loudnoises1 · 30/05/2019 21:42
