Has anyone else bought the ridiculously comfortable farting sandals from M&S?

They are hugely comfy. One of the most comfortable pairs of sandals I’ve ever bought. But...the combination of feet and foam makes it sound as though I have chronic flatulence. It’s loud and constant. Does anyone else have them? Do you have the same problem? Any ideas on how to fix the noise? DH refuses to leave the house with me wearing them. Hmm Grin
I’ve tried talc. They are so comfy and don’t look bad so I’m desperate for a solution so I don’t need to confine them to the back of the wardrobe.

I have another pair of shoes that squeak a bit but these are much worse. They actually sound like a whoopee cushion with every step. Hmm

Give them away and buy some crocs sandals

TheWaiting · 25/05/2019 22:54

@MrsSpenserGregson, please do try them on and report back. I think they come in 3 colours.

Noooo, Iggly, they are too comfy.

No advice but thanks for the thread - am wiping away tears of laughter at the farting shoes at the funeral Grin

TheWaiting · 26/05/2019 11:35

Yes, the funeral story is funny albeit somewhat unfortunate.

I tiptoed a lot that day! Still have the shoes but only worn in noisy places Grin

MrsDrudge · 26/05/2019 13:15

I think we need a video - with sound!

PotOfSilver · 26/05/2019 13:24

Thanks all, so so funny and a problem I think we have all had at some point in our lives! I find tights makes it worse!

ImaginaryFriends · 26/05/2019 13:33

I have farting sandals and found that these work quite well, they don't completely eliminate the farting but it's greatly reduced.

I just said they weren't comfortable when I returned them, though

That really made me laugh!

Alsohuman · 26/05/2019 13:43

Birkenstocks do it on me. I’m so relieved someone else has experienced it, my friends think l’m mad. Do you have a high instep, OP?

TheWaiting · 26/05/2019 14:15

Yes, I have a high instep. I think that’s the issue as it’s creating and releasing a vacuum with each step. Like clasping my hands together to make a farting noise. That’s exactly what it sounds like and feels like.

TheWaiting · 26/05/2019 14:17

Surely someone else has bought the sandals? I’d like reassurance that I’m not the only one with fart inducing feet.
@MrsSpenserGregson, I hope you tried them on!

My Hush Woodstock sandals fart too! 😂

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/05/2019 16:53

Are they all textile?
If so , they're vegetarian sandles and the noises won't phase the fellow Lentil-Weavers Wink

MrsSpenserGregson · 26/05/2019 17:01

@TheWaiting I have let you down! My DD (12) absolutely refused to go anywhere near M&S as she would simply die if she had to be within a 500-mile radius of me trying on a pair of farting sandals. I shall try to go back this week to try them on ....

CherryCheezcake · 26/05/2019 22:50

Re high instep - I learned recently that what I had been calling the instep is actually the arch. The instep is the top of your foot, not the underneath.

I have a farting sandal. It never recovered from being ankle deep in flash flood water.

HermioneMakepeace · 27/05/2019 00:11

I bought a very expensive pair of LK Bennett shoes and the left one made an unfortunate noise that seemed to come from between the sole and the heel. It was just like a loud farting sound. I literally couldn’t wear them. However, LK Bennett refused to take them back in spite of many phone calls and emails pleading with them. I was left with a £200 pair of shoes that I could never wear. Considering I was unemployed at the time and bought them to go for interviews, I was devastated.

I will never shop at LK Bennett again for that reason.

soarin · 27/05/2019 01:55

🤣🤣

Gentlemanwiththistledownhair · 27/05/2019 13:08

Could you modify the sandal so that the gas pressure doesn't form? (I suspect the sound is actually air not being able to easily flow out of an area of the shoe so the pressure build up until it is high enough to force out: like blowing a raspberry against skin)

All you need is a small gap / hole somewhere so that air can get out of the side. As it's by your arch, could you make a hole somewhere discreet? Perhaps even make a line/triangle shape so it looks in keeping with the design if anyone did happen to spot it?

Alsohuman · 27/05/2019 14:00

My feet do this with Birkenstocks which are completely open. If you’ve got a high instep there’s nothing you can do about it.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 27/05/2019 14:09

I agree it's down to having a high arch, although I have no problem with Birkenstocks. I find it's more likely to happen in a closed in shoe where the side of the shoe is quite tight so the air is forced out under pressure.
