I always insisted on having long hair, even though my hair is fine and gets really straggly, thin and lank once it gets to shoulder length. Although I’d love the kind of thick hair that looks good long, I definitely don’t have it!

Anyway, after over 30 years of wearing my hair in a rubbish looking ponytail because it looked crap down and I refused to go short, I finally took the plunge and got my hair cut to chin length. It looks so much better. For the first time ever my hair looks thick and healthy, and it actually suits me so much more than longer hair, to my surprise.

The other thing is getting a few really dark, sticky out moles removed. I had them done privately and it cost quite a lot but really improved my confidence and I wish I’d spent the money and done it years ago.

Just want to report back on the vaseline. It's all gone in the morning. I think it's really doing things. Forehead creases are disappearing and my skin is completely clear Grin

higgyhog · 08/06/2019 10:20

Eyelash extensions, I'm 62 and since I've had them I feel pleased every time I look in the mirror. The effect is amazing.

Hullabalooo · 08/06/2019 17:44

@iknowimcoming I'm asserting wondering exactly the same thing. Hate my nose veins

areyoubeingserviced · 08/06/2019 21:58

Botox. Lashes. Nails

Summery1 · 09/06/2019 13:46

Best. Thread. Ever.

And I'm going to try Yumi lashes. And weights. Thanks everyone!

WelshMoth · 09/06/2019 16:59

I'm having rather lovely results with the baseline but I make sure I apply my night moisturiser (Origins Ginzeng in my case) beforehand.

WelshMoth · 09/06/2019 16:59

*vaseline!

RuggyPeg · 09/06/2019 17:12

Facial thread veins - electrolysis and IPL. Works a treat. Hurts but it's quick and pain goes as soon as it's done.

DefinatelyAWeeGobshite · 09/06/2019 18:55

I wish I’d discovered brows before I did. I used to leave line, didn’t so much as brush them through and when I look back at pictures my makeup looks so undone! Now
I have them threaded occasionally and use a tinted brow gel so nothing drastic but I just look so much more...groomed I think!

Good skincare routine. I’ve always loved buying skincare but would just browse Boots or Superdrug and buy things without researching or just getting whatever deal was on. I’ve been getting more into it, especially since having kids and seeing how much it’s changed and am into serums, oils and masks.

Facials. I had my first facial at a salon near me last year and couldn’t believe I hadn’t done it before!!! I’ve only had one more since but I have a voucher to spend so will definitely book in again soon.

Accutane.
Led face mask.
Stopping drinking.

despairingwife · 09/06/2019 19:34

I do this and look just about ok at a youngish looking size 12 at age 40!

  • strength training mixed with HIIT
  • Daily meditation 5-10 mins
  • 2-3 ltrs water per day
  • Eyebrows naturally micro-bladed
  • teeth monthly crest strips and annual smilepod clean
  • skin: nightly double cleanse followed by retinol (or glycolic acid exfoliate twice a week)
-skin: daily vit c serum & SPF 50
  • daily fish oil one fish 369 tablet (not cod liver oil)
  • no sugar
  • no processed foods
  • limited caffeine
  • limited alcohol (was amazing when I managed to cut this out 100% but last few months I have slipped back to drinking weekends Confused)
  • use sleep tracker app

I should add that all if this has helped me physically (losing 1.5 stone and staying slim tall size 12) but also psychologically getting much better keep and less anxiety.

sheshootssheimplores · 09/06/2019 20:45

fluffycloud which LED mask? That’s one of the things I’ve considered in the past but just couldn’t find enough evidence to purchase one.

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/06/2019 21:05

It’s a beauty star one off amazon. I’d get one with a neck attachment though in future.

I got cystic acne last year and I think the red light setting stopped me getting deep scars.

RuggyPeg · 09/06/2019 22:16

Despair - it's really easy to look young at 40. It's 46+ when the rot really sets in and the old face starts to resemble a melted welly.

margaritasbythesea · 09/06/2019 22:35

Oh jeez ruggy! I turn 46 in a month!

BuildBuildings · 10/06/2019 07:52

The ordinary
ASOS
Filling in my eyebrows
Urban decay eye primer

whyohwhyowhydididoit · 10/06/2019 08:46

OPI gel nail polish - I have always had weak flaky nails that don’t grow and don’t hold polish. I have had OPI gel manis without a break for three years now and my nails are stronger than ever before ( I do take a hair/nail supplement and use cuticle oil a lot too). I love catching a glimpse of my lovely nails now.

Botox. I started it a few years to lift my droopy eyelids and it is transformative. It lifts my eyes, gives a good arch to my brows , makes me look fresher and I still have movement. Having read this thread I’m going to ask about having it round my mouth to fill out the cats bum creases.

Birdrib · 10/06/2019 09:52

For those asking about colours - I had a go at the link posted earlier in the thread and found it helpful so shared it with my sister who has previously paid the £150 to get her colours done. She said it’s basically word for word what she was told and now wants her money back Grin

sheshootssheimplores · 10/06/2019 10:01

Could you post the link again Birdrib?

WelshMoth · 10/06/2019 10:40

Build
What's The Ordinary?

JMAngel1 · 10/06/2019 11:39

God yes Ruggypeg - agree 46 is the killer age - I have had to actively put half a stone on to keep my face pointing upwards.

Soola · 10/06/2019 12:05

@WelshMoth

The ordinary is a skincare range. It’s cheap and I bought loads when it became very popular and have chucked or given away every item as they were all rubbish.

A far better skin care brand is SR Skincare which is in the same price range but does actually have very good products.

sheshootssheimplores · 10/06/2019 13:09

Melted willy 🤣🤣

I had to admit to my friend that 35 was a definite turning point age wise when it came to youth deserting you, so I can totally believe 46 is another nail in the coffin. I’m 44 and I had a brow and eye lift a year ago, so the top half of my face isn’t too bad. I can see the jowls starting to form on the bottom half though 🤦🏻‍♀️

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/06/2019 13:52

I’m only keeping the ordinary caffeine serum for eyes, the rest was very meh.
