I always insisted on having long hair, even though my hair is fine and gets really straggly, thin and lank once it gets to shoulder length. Although I’d love the kind of thick hair that looks good long, I definitely don’t have it!

Anyway, after over 30 years of wearing my hair in a rubbish looking ponytail because it looked crap down and I refused to go short, I finally took the plunge and got my hair cut to chin length. It looks so much better. For the first time ever my hair looks thick and healthy, and it actually suits me so much more than longer hair, to my surprise.

The other thing is getting a few really dark, sticky out moles removed. I had them done privately and it cost quite a lot but really improved my confidence and I wish I’d spent the money and done it years ago.

I really wish this thread had pictures lol. I also want to see this casual chic wardrobe. My style is eclectic 😬

i tried the weleda skin food thing last night (i didn't have vaseline) i washed my face with a hot flannel then applied to forehead, around eyes and beneath nose as it smells nice.

it sank in overnight but i have a pimple on my nose. i never get spots....
not sure i will do it every night but i am sure it def feeds the skin.

@KavvLar I did a bit of looking round but eventually went for a local clinic. I’ve had a good result as I’m quite fair with dark hair and I understand it can vary according to skin/hair type - needs a good contrast to work well. I’d definitely choose Laser over IPL as I’ve had better results with that. I’d also be wary of the bigger chain clinics signing you up on deals to have a certain number of sessions. I’ve only needed four (on each area) rather than the eight one large chain tried to sell me. You also need top ups maybe once each year - I’d get a Lumea for that but my short/long sightedness means I can’t see my bikini line well enough to do a decent job 😂

For me, it's what most of MN seem to hate....acrylic nails🤣

For the first time in my life I have longer length nails, I can have them in beautiful bright colors and they are more or less indestructible.

Prior to having acrylic nails, the last time I had long nails was my wedding day in 2000, they were cheap stick on things and 2 came off! Lovely to have nails that don't move.

They aren't super length talons either, just longer length nails.

Knickers over tights 😀 stops my tights falling down.

OMFG I’ve never thought of this!

U2HasTheEdge · 06/06/2019 20:47

Accutane.

My undercut. I have super thick hair that I could never keep long because it was too much to deal with. My under cut has solved my problems and for once my hair is nice.

Has anyone any advice for fine lines around my upper lip?

I have one particularly deep one running up towards my nostril from my upper lip - it looks like a scar it's so deep. Would love to get ride of it.

lotusbell · 06/06/2019 22:05

@flashbac, this is me! I'm too scared to do it but always need it thinning out and my hairdresser has never suggested it as an alternative. How often do you have it shaved, how far up does it go? I'm intrigued!

lotusbell · 06/06/2019 22:09

@Sakura7, I've got soap stashed all over the place, the ND ones last ages so are worth the extra money, I think

pockledigg · 07/06/2019 07:00

Welshmoth - - I had Botox in this area last Saturday and it's worked really well (my first Botox ever). I thought that I would need fillers but the Dr said Botox would work -and it did! Had my 11's done too - really pleased with the result.

AliCanTea · 07/06/2019 08:51

Getting rid of my fringe - I’ve had one all my life and finally grew it out! It tended to look great when freshly done but the moment I went out it would go lank or frizz up... I’ve suddenly discovered I actually enjoy windy beach walks now I’m not fretting about my stupid hair...

AliCanTea · 07/06/2019 09:06

Also realising that shampoo was causing my acne. Switched to Simple, sorted. Could have saved myself a lot of scarring.

KaliforniaDreamz · 07/06/2019 10:11

In winter fishnet tights under tight black skinny trousers (or any trousers). weirdly gives a much better shape.
got this tip from a dancer friend.

PenelopePunk · 07/06/2019 11:14

Accutane here too. Amazing. All of those years thinking all I needed was a new potion or lotion when accutane was the answer all along

fluffiphlox · 07/06/2019 13:13

Letting my hair be curly.

Fibbke · 07/06/2019 13:24

Growing out my frumpy mum bob, having botox in my number 11s and using hydralonic acid on my face. I look a good 5 years younger. Wish I'd done it years ago.

Philips Lumea
Losing 2 stone
Invisalign to straighten teeth

Cynderella · 07/06/2019 13:44

For bars of soap, much better than soap dishes are the magnetic holders from Amazon. They're exactly what you need for solid shampoo bars too.

WelshMoth · 07/06/2019 17:37

Will hydralonic acid sort out my lip lines?!

WelshMoth · 07/06/2019 17:41

pockledigg only now seen your post- thanks! How much? Is it painful?!

WelshMoth · 07/06/2019 17:41

...and can you move your lips?!

iknowimcoming · 07/06/2019 18:17

Any suggestions for horrible spider veins on and around my nose?

flashbac · 07/06/2019 20:03

@lotusbell I don't really pay much attention to my undercut. My partner tidies it up for me with his beard trimmer now and then but it's hidden under my hair so it doesn't show if it's growing out funny. I have gone quite high with it. Makes my hair so much easier to manage and wash and dry.

pockledigg · 08/06/2019 06:29

Welshmoth - it was my first time - 11 injections in total - of which 2 were for my mouth lines. Slightly painful but nothing too bad. He said that he'd do these 'free' as he has mixed results on them and he can't put too much in this area in case mouth movement is affected. My mouth movement isn't affected at all. £240 in total but 11's completely gone and eyes seem 'lifted'. Going back a week today for my 2 week 'check'.

lotusbell · 08/06/2019 06:43

Thanks @flashbac, I think I'll discuss next time I go to have mine cut!
