Work shoes that won't hurt my feet but also aren't hideous

I'm trying to find some work shoes that aren't completely vile to look at but won't a. cut into my achilles b. cut into the top of my foot c. rub the sides of my feet.

Something that would look good with both trousers and skirts would be great.

We're not allowed to have sandals, toes should be covered. Also no trainers.

I don't like block heels.

Budget is whatever, because I would kill for shoes that I don't want to throw in the bin at the end of the day.

these aren't the prettiest, but they are super duper comfy xx

NeverPutAWetFootInABirkenstock · 23/05/2019 17:26

How about Birkenstock ballet flats?

Imleavingonajetplane · 23/05/2019 17:29

Fit Flop have great shoes and pretty much always have a sale on.

If you want something different, try Shoe Embassy.

IAmAlwaysLikeThis · 23/05/2019 23:00

sleep No, those are too ugly, sorry.

never They could be ok but reviews say they are wide and I was narrow feet.

I have a nice pair of geox with a not too high wedge heel.
They're a few years old but a slim wedge can look nice and is comfortable

happystory · 23/05/2019 23:04

I've always managed to find something in Clark's, maybe not the most stylish but comfortable if you're on your feet all day ( am a teacher)

Their moccasins are very comfortable, hopefully the loafers are too,

I've had some lovely flats for work from Geoxx. I've also finally embraced the whole brogues thing with several pairs of Hamble Oaks. Took a bit of getting my head around but weirdly I get lots of nice comments about them and they're super comfy

SunshineInTheSnow · 24/05/2019 01:47

Allbirds have come out with flats. Don't know if they are available in the U.K. yet but they sold out here in the US

OxanaVorontsova · 24/05/2019 01:53

I live in Topshop or Next loafers at work, I’m on my feet most of the day

Shoebedoo · 24/05/2019 03:09

I got these last week and they are SO comfortable! I wear footsies with them

What sort of shoe are you after? Court shoe, loafer, etc., etc??

Geox shoes for me too, they are generally a) narrow ish fitting and b) comfortable.

I bought these last week and they are very comfortable.

The problem is then your poor taste in footwear, rather than the lack of availability of comfortable and smart shoes.

IAmAlwaysLikeThis · 24/05/2019 04:20

Thanks for all the suggestions.

floribunda what a terribly useful comment. Thank you so much, I hope I can be just like you when I'm older.

You can of course try, but I feel the learning curve will be rather too steep. Especially in those shoes.

SuperSange · 24/05/2019 05:18

I wear predominantly brogues and loafers. I've had my Clark's brogues for years and they're like slippers. M&S are great for comfy shoes like that too.

AnotheChinHair · 24/05/2019 06:01

I know Fly London are a controversial choice but I personally like the look of them because they suit my body shape but mostly, they are unbelievably comfortable. Sometimes they need breaking in.

Hush Puppies?
They have some ballet flats but also a wedge option?

I don't really wear these with skirts - more of a ankle grazer black slim leg trouser look....

But I have these from last yr in a cream colour - pretty comfy -

Controversially I also have these - again with black trousers - beyond comfy and have actually been complemented on them by 2 younger trendier colleagues!!

Floribunda 🤣🤣🤣

Fatted · 24/05/2019 06:26

OP if your shoes are rubbing and cutting into your feet, can you not wear them with tights or socks to stop this?

You also say you have narrow feet but I'm thinking if this is a regular problem across brands you've probably actually got wide feet.

OxanaVorontsova · 24/05/2019 16:09

OP - you asked for ideas and have had loads of suggestions but only responded negatively Hmm

Capezio · 24/05/2019 16:25

Allegro ballet flats. All the padding is hidden inside so they are slimline. Really comfy supportive base and soft leather upper. They do a pair with tassels across the toes too. Several colours are available in each. I only got them this week, after being fed up of summer shoes rubbing, but so far so good.
