Can anybody suggest a perfect haircut for me?

It is currently medium length and I just ponytail it all the time.
I want something shorter for the summer - ideally off my neck but not short on top as I hate the growing out stage. I hate inverted bobs (apologies to anyone who has one - they're just not me.)
Must be casual, I'm no glamour puss!
And I don't want to have to faff with it in the mornings.
Any ideas? I would be grateful

What is an inverted bob?

I have a bob-ish, shorter at the neck then slopes down to the front... looks longer than it is, IYSWIM.

Or is that an inverted bob!

TooTicky · 18/07/2007 14:00

Erm, yes it is

LOL sorry!

newlifenewname · 18/07/2007 14:08

You know we neeeed to see your hair now!

TooTicky · 18/07/2007 14:09

Nonononoooo!!! The sides come halfway between chin and shoulders, the back a bit longer (hence ponytail). Dark, thick, no fringe. Fringes are hassle

TooTicky · 18/07/2007 14:10

Oh, and straight.

How about jaw length-ish, but layered from ear level, so you could put it behind your ears and hopefully wash and leave it?

TooTicky · 18/07/2007 14:19

Maybe...oh, I'm useless at this. Can never visualise anything. Grump.

What about something on the lines of this

Tatties · 18/07/2007 14:36

Yes Angel, that's the kind of thing I was thinking - maybe a bit shorter even. TT is that too bob-like for you?

allgonebellyup · 18/07/2007 14:39

oooh Wings, that is my hair at the moment!!

TooTicky · 18/07/2007 17:13

Ooh, not sure, maybe a little...
Awkward bugger aren't I?

OP posts:
TooTicky · 18/07/2007 17:13

Maybe though...

I like that tooticky

Tatties · 18/07/2007 19:12

How much faith do you have in your hairdresser Ticky? I think it doesn't always work to pick a particular hairstyle, but if you tell the hairdresser how short you want it, what you don't like and how much time you have in the morning, they should be able to come up with something that will suit you.

TooTicky · 18/07/2007 21:00

Trust? Um. Well. I go there because it's in a side street so I don't feel conspicuous. Don't like the big shiny places with big windows. Oh, and it's cheap. But she always reminds me how terrible I looked once when I gave up on growing my hair out. I haven't been back since growing it out this time. And she did once cut it completely how I didn't want it.
But, as I said, the shiny places scare me.
Need somebody to come and hold my hand really. And my toddler

tooticky you need a babysitter toddlers and haircuts, ooh that isn't relaxing... I had a look omn a website that gets you to choose a hairstyle and face shape etc, but it was awful....

surely you can find somewhere not too shiny? and conspicuous looking, that is better than the one that hasn't done as you asked? I don't go back if the hair cut is crap... hence my long unstyled hair!

TooTicky · 18/07/2007 22:31

Oh, I'm just a coward. I do find the shiny places very intimidating. Everybody looks so immaculate and I fear I will be sniggered at.

OP posts:
TooTicky · 18/07/2007 23:25

Maybe this kind of length but without the spiky bits? I dunno. Looks a bit scraggy, doesn't it?

OP posts:
Tamum · 18/07/2007 23:28

That looks a bit scary to be honest Perhaps you could go to a shiy place and take your knitting so you feel less self-conscious? Hmm, maybe not

TooTicky · 18/07/2007 23:31

Yes, it is a bit scary.
Why are there no alternative hairdressers? Knitting-friendly places with wooden toys for toddlers and walls decorated with lentils.

Oh, in case you're wondering, the book hasn't arrived yet. I think the strikes have really slowed things down

OP posts:
Tamum · 18/07/2007 23:34

Oh yes, that sounds good. Bit of a gap in the market there. Did the patterns arrive btw? I sent my MIL a letter on Monday that hasn't arrived yet so I don't know what's happening with the post.

Tamum · 18/07/2007 23:34

Whoops, cross posted- that's awful, sorry. I posted it the day I emailed you. Rats.

TooTicky · 18/07/2007 23:42

Local post seems okay, but long-distance stuff v. slow.
