Morning all. Am looking for recommendations. I'm 41 with pretty rubbish skin and every year I buy a high factor spf for my face but end up looking like an oil slick. What does everyone use? What is OK under make up too?

Biore Aqua Watery Essence for me. Doesn’t make me oily, doesn’t make my eyes sting, doesn’t roll up into little bits under make up.

Hullabalooo · 19/04/2019 11:57

Helio suncare cream factor 50. Amazing!

Lottapianos · 19/04/2019 11:59

Another vote for Biore

I used to buy Sunsense tinted facial sunscreen. www.sunsense.co.uk/product/daily_face/ It was great under make-up as it was quite matte and the foundation adhered well to it. I don't use it anymore as I now react to chemical sunscreens so have to wear mineral only which means I can't go higher than factor 30. Now I use Natio for Men, which is a bit glowy but I have dry skin so it soaks in quite well. www.lookfantastic.com/natio-for-men-30-face-moisturiser-100g/10562410.html I'm not a big make up wearer but I found Boots foundation drops work really well mixed into the Natio if I want a bit of coverage.

I use the beauty pie one and the nip and fab post glycolic fix SPF 30 when on offer. Both non oily (need a moisturizer in fact with the former) and don't give me spots.

Polkadotdelight · 19/04/2019 12:04

Fantastic! Thank you!

frezyderm velvet face sunscreen, you can get it on amazon, it’s amazing - I use the spf 50

Missingstreetlife · 19/04/2019 12:12

I was told ultrasun but haven't tried it yet

mookinsx · 19/04/2019 12:15

Altruist
Can get on amazon - GP recommend to me and she uses herself. Dermatology recommended one etc. And the reviews on amazon support it too

AhoyDelBoy · 19/04/2019 12:53

Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence 🙌🏻 Gorgeous stuff and SPF 50

MistyMinge · 19/04/2019 12:58

I've just started using the Biore watery essence after seeing it recommended on here and by Sali Hughes. I have pretty oily skin. Been applying after moisturiser but before make up. So far so good, no oil slick on my face. It's a thumbs up from me.

MistyMinge · 19/04/2019 13:00

Google sali Hughes non greasy suncream and her Guardian article from last summer should come up.

HildaSnibbs · 19/04/2019 13:01

Jason facial sunscreen SPF 20, I put some on after my moisturiser has soaked in and you wouldn't know it was there. Non oily, hypoallergenic, smells lovely.

hollieberrie · 19/04/2019 15:34

Biore for me too

LostInShoebiz · 19/04/2019 15:37

Watery Essence is amazing. I keep trying other things and regretting it. Nothing can match it for oily skin.

orangejuiced · 19/04/2019 15:51

I vote Altruist too, you can buy from Amazon. Brilliant.

XingMing · 19/04/2019 15:58

Biore again, but Altruist is also good and so's the Beauty Pie. I also like the LRP SPF30 spray that's small enough to go in a handbag for top ups.

mysteryfairy · 19/04/2019 15:59

Biore is brilliant. I have very dry skin but works better for me than any previous western brand. It’s so light I was initially unconvinced it would be effective but fine even in baking sun.

1WayOrAnother · 19/04/2019 16:01

Body shop do one that sinks straight in, I swear by it

Pinkrach · 19/04/2019 16:56

Heliocare SPF50 oil free gel- absolutely great!

taybert · 19/04/2019 17:06

I burnt with Biore. I’m still looking for the perfect one but have been recommended Eucerin which I’m going to try.

LostInShoebiz · 19/04/2019 17:28

I burnt with Biore.

How quickly? Did you apply correctly? Unfortunately a lot of sunscreen failure is user error.

Polkadotdelight · 19/04/2019 19:02

So many suggestions, thank you again. I've gone with the sun sense for now as Amazon can get it for me by tomorrow but its great to have lots of back ups and I'm tempted by biore too.

LostInShoebiz I can’t really remember but I’m really pale and pretty used to sunscreen application. If I ever accidentally catch the sun it’s usually on my shoulders where I’ve missed a bit I haven’t reached properly. I can’t remember the last time my face burned when I’d applied sunscreen until I used Biore.

It’s always recommend on these threads and people obviously think very highly of it but I do wonder why it isn’t available to buy in shops in the uk. I’m interested to know if that’s a retail decision from Biore or there’s a regulatory reason.
