Will Kate emerge from her Norfolk seclusion sporting a bigger than ever Alice band? Will the Mail and Express stories about Meghan get more ludicrous by the day? And will this thread see the arrival of Baby Sussex? All will be revealed in due course...

There are some gorgeous photos of the Queen there - the one of her smiling at the person with the grey hair that is quite close is a great portrait. Her skirt looks lovely too, shame we couldn't see it.
I'm not a fan of the Erdem dress either, it's too high necked and I think t would be better with shorter sleeves.

SlipperOrchid · 18/04/2019 13:23

Strikes me as not family-centric, something the Cambridges have previously always come across as

Do people think they have made the decision for kids not to be paraded around so much or is it merely logistical? Most people don’t bring their whole family on work trips?

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/04/2019 13:23

Eugenie does love that neckline but I don't think it flatters a larger bust. The hat is cute though.

The high neckline has never suited her. I think the pattern is too busyon her too. She is an attractive woman and this pattern detracts from her.

CoverYourEarsTeam · 18/04/2019 13:35

I think (FWIW), they've totally made a choice not to transport the kids around, unless they need to. Whirlwind trip to the other side of the globe - nah. Eastern Europe with a couple of toddlers - yep. And that's probably fair enough.
Also agree with you, @SlipperOrchid , the DofE is probs pretty unwell. I mean, he's 97 or so - even on a hood day, how good can he be? And on a bad day ...

BigGreenOlives · 18/04/2019 14:23

I’m not sure about the Thomas’s term dates but lots of the London schools go straight back on Tuesday so George would have missed school. I guess this is a quickly fitted in trip rather than one that’s been planned for a long time. Diaries are normally planned 6 months in advance.

ajandjjmum · 18/04/2019 14:34

I think William was asked to go to NZ very recently, to support them after the recent shootings. I read that the government of NZ specifically requested the visit from him - so I suppose there wouldn't have been time to deal with the logistics and planning for a full-blown family trip.

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/04/2019 14:34

Today in Things That'll Ensure You Never Sleep Again is this terrifying Diana cake.

How long before the DM speculate that the family didn't go because Kate is pregnant? Only a fool would fly three small children to the antipodes for a 5 day trip!

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/04/2019 14:47

It's about 36 hours to NZ from London. Even in first class that's a LONG flight, especially with three young children. George and Charlotte went on the Canada trip but that's nowhere near as long a flight, maybe 8 hours tops to Toronto.

I know the threads moved on since nanny chat but I did read (in bollocks story about Sussex nanny) that the royals ‘prefer’ bilingual nannies - and I wondered if Spanish Norland nanny maybe speaks to Mini Cambridge’s in Spanish?

That would be brilliantly upper class - conjures up a whole image. I know it would traditionally be French but i can now imagine the nanny raising the kids in a different language while Kate drinks G+T in a chaise longue in her dressing room, arranging her hair pieces or some such.

Elllllle · 18/04/2019 15:08

I hate the high necks on Eugenie. Hate the flippy skirts too. It's a very a British styling though I think. Is it just me, or is 90% of your high street high necks and fit/flare?

SlipperOrchid · 18/04/2019 15:09

Pingu Truth is stranger than fiction. A couple of years ago, Kate was somewhere or other and told her audience that Charlotte was fluent in Spanish!

beanaseireann · 18/04/2019 16:03

Despite Max's popularity on this thread, I read in the Irish Times today that support for the Dutch monarchy has fallen sharply among 18-34 year olds, with just 55% saying they would prefer a king or queen as head of state rather than a president.
In the last comparable poll taken in 2007, it was 70% of that age bracket.

Max and Willem are visiting Ireland in June on a two day state visit.

brizzlemint · 18/04/2019 16:10

The Cambridge children will have great fun if they are all fluent in Spanish and their parents aren't! Heaven help K&W when the Nanny is off duty.

MotherofPearl · 18/04/2019 16:16

That cake Shock

BertrandRussell · 18/04/2019 16:19

“I think Philip’s health is a lot worse than they let on.”

As my mum used to say “one in, one out”......

PinguDance · 18/04/2019 16:22

Tbh it does make sense to have a nanny who could give your children at least a basic grounding in another language - I’d do it! It never occurred to me before but actually it seems like a really obvious advantage of being able to employ a full time nanny who’s probably going to stick around for a long time.

beanaseireann · 18/04/2019 16:32

BertrandRussell
I've noticed in families it often is 'One in, one out'

brizzlemint · 18/04/2019 16:44

Philip was driving on the Windsor estate yesterday Shock

We've not experienced the one in-one out in our family, thankfully. It must be hard when it happens like that.

SwimmingInTheDeepBlueSea · 18/04/2019 16:53

If I could afford a nanny I would be inclined to have a bilingual one (not really bothered on what the second language would be) - being bilingual is supposed to make learning other languages later in life much easier and overall increase academic achievement. But yes the DC could be saying naughty things in the second language and the parents have no idea!

ajandjjmum · 18/04/2019 17:02

“I think Philip’s health is a lot worse than they let on.”

People have been saying that since he retired!

Paradyning · 18/04/2019 17:04

Yea there's unsubstantiated rumours of the Big C

brizzlemint · 18/04/2019 17:06

Most people at 97 have got something wrong with them, it's inevitable really I think.

noodlenosefraggle · 18/04/2019 17:18

I'm not sure why Im getting pictures of the royals on my Instagram feed, but I have seen quite a few pictures that are mock ups of Diana with Wills and Harry as adults. It's really creepy, but the comments underneath are all 'Oh how beautiful etc!' The people with Diana obsessions are very disturbing!

I like Eug in that dress Grin
