I know it's been done to death but wondered if anyone had found a new wonder treatment recently?

Cannot use:
Tgel- any variety
Nizoral- used to work, now doesn't
Ginger Body shop
Liz Earle
Phillip Kingsley
Baby shampoo
Or any bloody shampoo really!

Getting very fed up. ACV makes no difference either.

TIA

The things that have made most difference to me aren't the actual product used but how I use them.

I have very thick stubborn scales that need scrubbing with shampoo to encourage them to break down a bit. I shampoo twice as the first shampoo just gets rid of any grease then the second shampoo actually gets to the scalp.

I avoid my head being in contact with anything but cotton (for example Pilates equipment worsens mine).

The best shampoo I've found for my scalp is Dermax but I'm afraid it's not a magic wand. I still have scaly patches it's just better controlled.

I'll try Dermax. Thank you.

I have suffered with psoriasis for as long as I can remember all over my body. I have tried what feels like every medicated product....the best thing ever and only thing that worked for me was aveda scalp remedy, it lasts ages and cost about £25

As gross as this sounds... it works!

Soak hair in bath and massage a little Aussie mega shampoo. After five minutes scrub scalp with fingernails .

Then wash and condition hair in the shower to clean probably.

Then use aveda scalp remedy (best price usually look fantastic website)

I do this twice a week with normal wash in between.

My OH uses the Eucerin Urea shampoo for his scalp psoriasis.
He also started using their intensive 10% urea lotion on his arms last summer when he had a really bad flare. It's pretty greasy but cleared it up totally when nothing else would.

oohyoudevilyou · 06/04/2019 20:18

Selsun - the 2.5 % one, not Selsun Blue. Dries your hair out quite a bit though.

BitOfFun · 06/04/2019 20:33

Capasal is what they prescribe when I'm having a flare up.

RandomMess · 06/04/2019 21:13

When I get up will check what DD has!

One has sebco ointment the other some lotion that I cannot remember the name of...

VictoriaBun · 06/04/2019 21:18

Have a read of the ingredients of Faith in nature shampoo. I'd had two area on my scalp for nearly 5 years. Had been prescribed various lotion and potions from the drs including steroid liquid, which cleared it up then it would come back again . I tried the Faith in nature tea tree one and it cleared it up.

Lorrainekellysaccountant · 06/04/2019 21:18

Thank you, I'll do some experimenting!

Betnovate scalp application!

Harumphharagh · 06/04/2019 21:27

I say this every time this subject comes up and feel like no one ever listens to me! Started the curly girl method (because I have thick straight but frizzy hair that was very fried and dry) which involves using conditioner to wash your hair - no shampoo at all.

I now have ZERO, NADA plaques at all, after fifteen years of being plagued with them. Would never go back to regular shampoo for this reason (can use it occasionally with no issues).

There are tonnes of co-wash conditioners to try on amazon.

Lorrainekellysaccountant · 06/04/2019 21:32

Harumph, you're not root greasy with it? I'll happily give it a try!

Okay so I did go through an ‘adjustment’ period of about 6-8 weeks where it was a bit flat and lank. There is tons of advice online on how to do it. You have to use silicone free conditioner though - tresemme naturally undone or botanique are both good, As I Am coconut cowash is brilliant, a bit pricey for use all the time but might be a great introduction!

Harumphharagh · 06/04/2019 21:39

Oh, sorry, to answer your question, no it is never greasy now, it’s supposed to make your hair less greasy overall, I have very thick hair and wash about twice a week, although tbh could probably do it once a week with no one noticing (but scared of it smelling gross!)

SlipperOrchid · 07/04/2019 00:10

Unfollowing this thread with interest.

I’ve had scalp psoriasis for as long as I can remember.

I’m currently using Body Shop ginger but having had great success for a month, it is now ineffective.

I tried the Curly Girl method for a few months and sadly it didn’t work for me at all. My flakes were so bad that I actually stopped going outside because if I touched my hair, my shoulders were covered in tiny dry flakes. I was doing it correctly as I had joined a few different FB groups at the time and took on board all their advice. It was with huge relief that I shampood my hair in the end!

SlipperOrchid · 07/04/2019 00:11

I am following not unfollowing ... grrrrrr....

Fingerbobs · 07/04/2019 10:32

Another vote for proper steroid - Betacap it’s called, is liquid, goes on dry hair and although it smells horrific for a minute (peroxide smell) it goes and dries in very quickly and totally fixes it. Life changing stuff for me.

QueenofCBA · 07/04/2019 14:59

Moogoo Milk Shampoo and conditioner worked really well for my dry and itchy scalp, they also have a special product for scalp psoriasis that others are raving about. I never got round to trying it, though, as the other stuff does such a great job.

MontanaSkies · 07/04/2019 15:24

When I get a flare up this is what works for me: Capasal shampoo (it stinks though Sad) every other day, and a bit of Betnovate liquid rubbed into the area morning and evening. This starts to clear it after 3-4 days. I also try hard to massage the scalp when shampooing instead of just washing my hair.

Hope this helps. It is miserable I know. I'm also making note of the other things recommended on this thread.

Enterthewolves · 07/04/2019 15:28

Jason anti dandruff worked for me www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/jason-dandruff-relief-shampoo-60004606?skuid=004606&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&gclsrc=aw.ds&&&gclid=CjwKCAjwv6blBRBzEiwAihbM-ZNmZ0gsOqMcvqRFli4QldIN7uBU5hG2PdEXwjp05qRgXkVCfMXffhoCI0QQAvD_BwE I’m doing Curly Girl but I still need an occasional blast of Jason to keep it under control

gubbsywubbsy · 07/04/2019 16:44

Is it on the top of your head or around the back ? I had it at the back and had an undercut ... it went away within weeks .. I think because my hair is thick it was wet for a long time and irritated the skin.. also try sls free shampoo or just co wash ?

Itsautumn · 07/04/2019 17:00

Agree with betacap. My doctor prescribed it along with a coal tar ointment to break down hard scales. Smells horrific but works.

Hippopotas · 07/04/2019 17:07

Alphosyl is a good shampoo
