I know it's been done to death but wondered if anyone had found a new wonder treatment recently?

Cannot use:
Tgel- any variety
Nizoral- used to work, now doesn't
Ginger Body shop
Liz Earle
Phillip Kingsley
Baby shampoo
Or any bloody shampoo really!

Getting very fed up. ACV makes no difference either.

TIA

I have a patch at the back of my head.

Are you sure it is psoriasis and not a Candida infection?

I use BS Ginger (S+C)
Some Superdrug Trichology
I have recently used Noughties Co-Wash but after the 3rd application my hair was as lank as greasy as hell.(Though I think that's where the adjustment comes in)

I do like Aveda Shampure , especially in the warmer weather when my scalp will drip sweat .

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 07/04/2019 17:43

You've probably already tried Polytar shampoo, but if not it might be worth a shot?

rockingthelook · 07/04/2019 19:30

Betacap, especially when scalp is very sore
Alphosyl and Capasal shampoo, nothing else at all works
When horrifically bad Cocois thick ointment to lift the scales

MsRabbitRocks · 07/04/2019 20:05

Not ‘treatment’ but I recently bought a brush for the shower that has done wonders for gently removing the placques and has really reduced the itching. I use it with TGel and a lavender conditioner. Best thing in a long while (since Dovonex stopped working for me-pesky auto-immune disease!!!)

@gubbsywubbsy that's really interesting about the undercut. My psoriasis is at the hairline on the back of my neck and I daren't get my hair cut short because I'm embarrassed. I didn't consider it might be better for me.

Notonaschoolnight · 07/04/2019 20:13

I had scalp psoriasis for 30 years and am also a curly and nothing from a chemist or gp has helped as much as using sls free shampoo with silicone free conditioner. I can’t conditioner wash only my hair is too fine and needs a shampoo

You do have to go through trial and error to get them right for your hair type my hair is dry and some sls free shampoo can turn your hair to straw but it’s definitely worth the effort

GregoryPeckingDuck · 07/04/2019 20:15

My SIL says the best option is no shampoo and making sure she gets enough sleep. I think that water qualify also makes a difference. I am starting to develop patches since moving into s hard water area.

youarenotkiddingme · 07/04/2019 20:21

Is it diagnosed as psoriasis?

If not have to heard if seborrhic dermatitis/ excema?

My ds has it and has a shampoo from gp and the betnovate scalp gel.
It's literally the only thing that works!

gubbsywubbsy · 07/04/2019 20:42

That's exactly where mine was .. it literally disappeared because I stopped scratching presumably because it stopped being itchy without so much hair and dampness on it .. mine was often bleeding it was that raw and now it's gone .. I didn't have the undercut because of it but it's been a lovely side product of having Less thick hair ( I still have tonnes but that bit gets more air to it ) give it a go .. it grows back so quickly and you can't see it when my hair is down .

Longdistance · 07/04/2019 20:49

I use Betacap. It’s such a relief on my scalp. The shampoos I use are Palmers shampoo, no parabens, and OGX organix shampoo that doesn’t have SLS as an ingredient.

Lorrainekellysaccountant · 07/04/2019 20:53

GP said psoriasis years ago but wondering if it is SD . I have eczema on my elbows.
It's tiresome. I haven't worn dark tops for years. On and off it's ok. Flare ups are utterly depressing! And itchy. I'll try all right now!

Are you sure it’s Psoriasis? And why exzema on your elbows?

I had psoriasis on my elbows and scalp for years, then last year had a huge flare-up all over my body.

I had UVB light therapy and now - touch wood - my scalp is perfect. I thank God every day it is so much better. The light therapy is amazing.

CarrieBlu · 07/04/2019 21:05

Another vote for betnovate.

kentparent · 07/04/2019 21:09

Lush shampoo bat followed by Bodyshop banana hair treatment left on for an hour or so

RussellSprout · 07/04/2019 22:03

I've had good results from Eucerin Dermo Capillaire calming urea shampoo. And I have horrible scalp psoriasis, which many medicated shampoos don't help with.

The urea comes from pigs urine apparantly!

HollywoodBoulevard · 07/04/2019 23:47

I’ve struggled for a long time with it, all the Tgel/capasal/polytar ones make my scalp very sore.

I now have Davines Oi shampoo and conditioner recommended by my salon, all Davines is sulphate free. I’m still a bit flakey but there’s no discomfort and that’s the main thing!

Aurea · 07/04/2019 23:50

This handmade 100% natural shampoo is brilliant for psoriasis.

greatvengeanceandfuriousanger · 07/04/2019 23:55

I've had uvb and it made no difference. My scalp is so sore, tight and uncomfortable. I'll try some of these solutions out.

Tarrarra · 07/04/2019 23:56

Cocois ointment from the doctor and polytar shampoo always sort out a flare up for me.

NotMyFinestMoment · 08/04/2019 00:12

You can get a light wand that has a comb attachment that you use to comb through your scalp (similarish to using a sunbed tube on your scalp) and to treat other skin conditions. I think the comb attachment comes off and you can use it on your body too. It works on the same or similar principle as a sunbed which for me clears my body psoriasis. But my scalp is getting worse and worse and is really bothering me so I am considering getting a light wand. Mine is now starting to spread down my face from my scalp. I already have it in my ears which i kept under control with betnovate and eumovate, but they are not really working now. Has anyone ever tried Aloe Vera on their scalps? The idea came to me the other day so I thought about buying some and trying it for a few days on my scalp and nothing else to see what happens. I am getting desperate :-/

Lorrainekellysaccountant · 08/04/2019 18:05

I'm less sure and concerned I'm treating SD with Psoriasis treatments now. My GP was quite dismissive and it was years ago. Light therapy is interesting. And Aloe Vera.

Pig urine. Nice! Desperation is as desperation does! I'll try it!!

But if you’re not sure, then go to the gp and ask to be referred to a dermatologist if the GP doesn’t know what’s wrong. Treatments for P won’t work necessarily for exzema.

INeedNewShoes · 09/04/2019 20:33

I managed to convince my GP to refer me to Dermatology but the appointment got me nowhere. They prescribed the same treatment as the GP did

WhereAreWeNow · 09/04/2019 21:34

I struggle with this too. Actually I think it's SD. BS Ginger shampoo was working for me but it's stopped working. Nizoral works a bit too but I avoid it because it strips all the dye out of my hair. I'm going to try adding tea tree oil to my shampoo. Tea tree is an antifungal as well as antiseptic.
