Arrrghhh!! How to dress big boobs?

Amrapaali · 03/04/2019 19:35

I am a 30J (!!) After many years freelancing (work wardrobe mostly my pjs) I have now gone full time.

I am generally happy with my style but whatever I wear- dresses, tops- my boobs are always going to be the focal point. The men in the office are all gentlemen but I have seen most of them slyly give the "girls" a once-over

My question is this: Can you lovely MNers suggest outfit ideas where my boobs wont be so much centre stage? Or do I just give up and accept I will always be the woman with y'know (cupped hands in front of chest gesture?) Grin

FWIW, Ive done the bra inetrvention on MN many moons ago and am wearing the right bra

For this I am eternally grateful and MN shall be named in my will. Grin

Also My style is eclectic, a tiny bit rocker chick and I do wear mostly fitted clothes. So not trying to drown my boobs in voluminous fabric IYSWIM...

V-necks or scoop necks, but no cleavage.
Long scarf looped around neck and tails hanging over boobs.
Bravissimo clothes (not the really cleavagey ones, obvs!).
For example

lissie123 · 03/04/2019 20:26

Bravissimo are good for big boobs. Great staff and advice about what fits and sizing.

Amrapaali · 03/04/2019 20:32

Thank you both!! That Bravissimo tunic looks so unique! Those stripes are like a weird optical illusion- do they make boobs appear smaller I wonder??

Yep used to do the scarf thingy. Have gone off that now...

I second bravissimo. Go and try everything on if you can. Make sure you get decent well fitting bras.

IHeartKingThistle · 03/04/2019 20:40

I don't wear white or light coloured tops to work!

ribbityrabbityroorooroo · 03/04/2019 20:42

I am also a 30J and live in Boden's wrap tops with a Primark vest top underneath - I have a drawer full of vests! The tops don't even need ironed Smile.

buckeejit · 03/04/2019 20:47

Pepper berry is bravissimo line, expensive but pretty good - check ebay too. A j cup in a 30 back is a smaller cup than 36f I think. There are some Facebook groups I think too, or bloggers-can't remember any though!

wink1970 · 03/04/2019 20:47

Booby girl here, I usually wear v- or wrap- necks which help give balance.

Ultimately, though, you have to just feel good about yourself, and if idiots want to look then let them look. Feel good and you won’t give a shit, and that will show ...

Fstar · 03/04/2019 20:53

I wear a vest top and these tops, flowy and flattering. Also loose shirts with a vest underneath

stucknoue · 03/04/2019 20:56

Bravissimo is your best bet alternatively dresses the cross over and you can pair with a vest top underneath for modesty (they gape on larger women)

purpleme12 · 03/04/2019 20:57

Show them off if that's your asset!

XingMing · 03/04/2019 21:09

They are not an asset, unless you're a show girl. V necks, no cleavage, no serious cling. Dark colour tops. At least for work, what you wear for fun is your business.

purpleme12 · 03/04/2019 21:13

I am only slightly smaller in cup than this and your comment is a bit insulting. Different things are assets to different people. Different things look good on them. You do not have to hide them if you don't want to. (That also doesn't have to mean the other extreme but I would have thought that was obvious)

MsSquiz · 03/04/2019 21:22

I do fitted shirts with a coordinating vest underneath so I don't need to worry about buttons coming undone!

I also love a wrap top or dress with a vest or t shirt underneath if it's a proper wrap and not just a wrap style top.

I consider mine to be assets, even if I don't want them "out there" all of the time. You can dress them well, without having them "on a plate" or totally covering them up and showing no cleavage at all

purpleme12 · 03/04/2019 21:24

Exactly thank you

purpleme12 · 03/04/2019 21:26

And no way would I stick to dark colour tops just I've got a big boobs! Why should they restrict me in colour?!

XingMing · 03/04/2019 21:26

Sorry you felt insulted but by the age of 15 I was fed up with people clocking the rack before they met the person.

YesQueen · 03/04/2019 22:13

I'm a 34JJ and not much hides them. I have cleavage in everything apart from a crew neck or polo neck, neither of which I can wear
I just go for v necks, fitted stuff, skater type dresses and camisoles under anything needed

Amrapaali · 03/04/2019 22:43

Oh wow!! Thanks a lot everyone. Some lovely tips here. Tried Pepperberry ages ago, never rated them. Always seemed to "enhance" my breasts. Wasn't a look I was going for.

Don't get me wrong I love my breasts but as PPs mentioned, don't always want to show them off especially at work.

Will give Pepperberry another whirl.

Amrapaali · 03/04/2019 22:50

Agree with YesQ not much can hide them but just after some nifty outfit ideas where I can look as streamlined as possible...

Oh and another bugbear is nipples showing through tops. I really don't like padded bras as they make things appear ...umm bigger. So I always opt for thinner fabric bras. Result nipples glaringly obvious even through cami and top Hmm

Meh not too fussed nowadays but it's just one of those frustrating things...

OP posts:
StarlightLady · 04/04/2019 02:52

How? Don’t hide. With pride and confidence! Well fitting clothes that say, hey this is me.

Look any ogglers in the eye with your best “what’s your problem?” look. You can beat them at their own game.

And yes, Bravissimo/Pepperberry can help too. But careful with any summer tops that alkegedly offer support as well. Some can be akin to wearing a corset.

KatharinaRosalie · 04/04/2019 06:32

Cowl necks are flattering and won't make boobs look bigger.
Neckline has to be relatively low on everything, high necks make us looks like we have one huge boob shelf. Not cleavage flashing low though.
Darker fabrics on top, nothing shiny.
There are some bras that have very light padding to hide nipples, like Fantasie Rebecca.

StarlightLady · 04/04/2019 07:03

To add to my previous comments, we all have nipples, a nipple outline should be no more of a big deal than the contour of the breast.

With the exception of the minority of women who opt not to wear a bra (and I’m not judging here; their choice), most of us wear one to enhance that contour and for comfort.

We really should not need to become masters (or should that be mistresses?!) of disguise. We have breasts which curve, they have nipples on the end.

Aside from when on the beach, I don’t walk about showing masses of cleavage, especially for work, but neither do I feel that I have to try and camaflage my feminine normality.

Amrapaali · 04/04/2019 07:40

Cowl necks used to be around a lot Katharina?? Don't see them much in the shops anymore. Please link if you have any suggestions. I did like a nice cowl neck...

Will try the Fantasie bra. My go-to is always Freya for a good fit and support
